New Releases
Asleep At The Wheel - Riding High In Texas CD/LP (Signature Sounds)
In 1974 Asleep at the Wheel made the move from the Bay Area to Austin, Texas. With encouragement from Willie Nelson and Doug Sahm to relocate - the band settled in and made Austin their home, where they remain 50 years later. The band's 32nd record, Riding High In Texas, marks AATW's first new release since their 50th anniversary project Half A Hundred Years in 2021. "I have always wanted to do a 'Texas' record - a thank you and love letter to this state that has given me and the band so much," says Ray Benson, the band's leader and only original member. "This album is an introduction to the current and future of AATW. I hope everyone enjoys this eclectic collection of some of our favorite songs about Texas." Album Features Billy Strings, Lyle Lovett, and Brennen Leigh.
Case Oats - Last Missouri Exit CD/LP (Merge)
Last Missouri Exit, the debut album by Case Oats, is a remarkably assured record. The band-Spencer Tweedy (drums), Max Subar (guitar, pedal steel), Jason Ashworth (bass), Scott Daniel (fiddle), and Nolan Chin (piano, organ)-gelling around Casey Gomez Walker's voice and guitar. Last Missouri Exit is a collection of sharply drawn character studies, Gomez Walker's background in creative writing expressing itself in wry observation and a disarmingly easy sense of the lyric, the profound and profane tumbling out of songs like "Bitter Root Lake" with the weight of a confessional poem and the ease of a conversation between friends.
The Dead Mall - The Restaurant LP (Cornelius Chapel Records)
The Dead Mall feigns southern college-rock while staying dangerously close to their 3-piece punk roots. Their sophomore effort "The Restaurant" was mixed by Collin Pastore (Lucy Dacus, Illuminati Hotties) and mastered by Preston Cochran (bassist of The Dead Mall, credits include Lucy Dacus and Darrin Bradbury). Ryan Sobb and Alex Rodriguez make the remainder of the band on guitar and drums. Sobb's first guitar was a Costco 3/4 sized tuned by his uncle, Chris Ewen, long-time member of The Magnetic fields. After studying music in Birmingham he moved to Nashville and worked at a frame shop that would become the backdrop for the making of The Restaurant.
Deftones - Private Music 2xLP (Reprise)
Deftones have always defined boundless creativity in the music space. Across nine studio albums, they have carved out an unmistakable sonic identity - ferocious yet dreamlike, while making space for constant refinement and surprise. Now, decades on from the groove-forward sound of their era-defining debut, Adrenaline, and following a long line of masterpieces including 2000's White Pony, 2010's Diamond Eyes and 2020's Ohms- an album that earned them their second and third Grammy nominations - they return with one of the most focused statements of their career: private music. Joining the band's creative core of Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham and Frank Delgado (as well as touring bassist Fred Sablan, who appears on the album) is producer Nick Raskulinecz, who previously worked on Diamond Eyes and 2012's riveting Koi No Yokan. The result is a lean, masterfully paced 11-song set that plays like a new Deftones benchmark. [Indie exclusive white vinyl.]
Mac Demarco - Guitar LP (Mac’s Record Label)
Guitar is the first studio album from Mac DeMarco since 2019's Here Comes The Cowboy. Following the two most recent releases - the 199-track One Wayne G and the instrumental, tour-inspired collection Five Easy Hot Dogs, Guitar features 12 new songs written, performed and recorded in it's entirety by Mac between November 16th-28th in 2024 at his home studio in LA. Mac writes, "I think Guitar is as close to a true representation of where I'm at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper." [Indie exclusive orange vinyl.]
Daniel Donato - Horizons LP (Retrace Music)
Daniel Donato has carved out a unique and individualized spot for himself, one that speaks to the deep American music heritage that inspires him - and that he's pushing towards the future with inspired, intentional vigor. He calls it Cosmic Country, a moniker that's both self-descriptive and a statement of purpose. It's an organic rock band aesthetic with plenty of roadhouse twang; a showcase for Donato's instrumental virtuosity and facility for melodically infectious songcraft. Kathleen Edwards - Billionaire LP (Dualtone)
Acclaimed singer, songwriter and performer Kathleen Edwards returns with her highly anticipated new album, Billionaire, August 22 on Dualtone Records. Evoking her debut, Failer, the new 10-song album is full of Edwards' trademark lyrical sharpness and unflinching observations and was produced by Jason Isbell and Gena Johnson. Celebrated as one of the forebears of modern alt-country and Americana music, Edwards is beloved by fans and fellow musicians, and praised by The New York Times for her, "droll, observant and unsparing tone that is all her own. In her best lines, Edwards has the conversational vernacular and emotional eloquence of a great short-story writer." Since debuting in 2003, Edwards has released five albums, including 2020's Total Freedom - her first after stepping away from music for almost a decade.
Laufey - A Matter of Time CD/LP (Laufey)
Laufey's third album, A Matter of Time, is a beautiful masterpiece of introspection about the anguish that comes with life and love. [Indie Exclusive Autumn Edition contains 1 LP pressed on a rich Rouge vinyl, Indie Exclusive 24" seasonal calendar poster with lyrics and unique photo, "Autumn" note from Laufey, seven inch, and photo sleeve.]
Old Dominion - Barbara CD/LP (Sony Nashville)
Old Dominion's sixth album, Barbara, is a 13-track journey that blends their signature melodic, guitar-driven sound with deeper reflections on life, love, and mortality. Known for crafting unforgettable hooks, the band leans into more mature themes without losing their optimistic spirit, exploring the highs and lows of life with honesty and heart. [Limited edition color vinyl.]
Royel Otis - Hickey LP (Ourness)
Hickey is the bold 2025 album from Australian duo Royel Otis - a cleaner, more confident evolution of their sun-soaked indie rock. With jangly guitars, sticky hooks, and sharp, direct storytelling, tracks like "moody," "car," and "say something" capture the thrill of youth and the chaos of growing up. Romantic, rebellious, and irresistibly catchy, hickey is made to leave a mark. [Indie exclusive coke bottle clear vinyl.]
Pino Palladino / Blake Mills - That Wasn’t A Dream LP (Impulse)
Pino Palladino and Blake Mills return with their second collaborative album, That Wasn't a Dream, on New Deal/Impulse! Records. This record follows their 2021 debut, Notes With Attachments, which Pitchfork described as "the sound of consummate collaborators imagining a world where there's no such thing as a lead performer."
Luke Schneider - For Dancing In Quiet Light LP (Leaving Records)
Luke Schneider's new EP finds the pedal steel guitarist further refining his singular ambient vocabulary - gentle, resonant, and quietly radiant. Following two releases on Third Man, this Leaving Records debut is inspired by the intersection of breath and movement, drawing influence from his rural Tennessee surroundings and Lou Reed's little-known tai chi soundtrack, Hudson River Wind Meditations. These compositions offer a delicate but emotionally resonant choreography of the inner self.
Sofi Tukker - butter LP (Virgin)
A bossa nova inspired follow up to 2024's global dance smash BREAD; butter is a fan-focused companion album and exploration of the band's softer side + the continued influence of the music of Brazil and it's many iterations. Standard black vinyl, gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeve envelope + letter.
Superchunk - Songs In the Key of Yikes CD/LP (Merge)
"Bruised Lung." "No Hope." "Care Less." "Climb the Walls." "Everybody Dies." Scanning the tracklist of Songs in the Key of Yikes, one is given to wonder: Is Superchunk okay? In a world that's arguably darker than the one that greeted Wild Loneliness in 2022 or What a Time to Be Alive in 2018, are any of us okay? "It's always been the case that everyone is going through something that you may not be aware of," notes Mac McCaughan. "This is currently more true than ever-but also the case that we are all going through some things together. In the face of that, what good is art and where is happiness found? (Spoiler alert: I don't know.)" In seeking an answer, Songs in the Key of Yikes unleashes a sound that is triumphant and bright in the darkness, Majesty Shredding in overdrive. [Indie exclusive orange splatter vinyl.]
Three Days Grace - Alienation CD/LP (RCA)
Three Days Grace returns with Alienation — their 8th studio album and a landmark moment in rock. For the first time in over a decade, original frontman Adam Gontier is back joining Matt Walst on vocals along with Neil Sanderson (drums), Brad Walst (bass) and Barry Stock (guitars) the twelve tracks on “‘Alienation’ all play a pivotal role in defining this significantly new, but nostalgic, chapter of the band. The album is a journey through inner collapse and outward defiance—The songs reflect isolation as a condition of existence, not just circumstance. Some of what we write about - anxiety, addiction, heartbreak, disconnect, are often a different wave of the same storm. And yet, buried in all the wreckage is something human—still reaching out.
Winter - Adult Romantix CD/LP (Winspear)
Winter's newest record and Winspear debut, Adult Romantix, is a farewell love letter to LA-"a tunnel of summers and memories"-inspired by Mary Shelley's gothic-romantic literature and '90s rom-coms. Leading up to her emotional coast-to-coast move, Samira Winter spent roughly two years writing songs in a transitory state: often in between tours, in different cities and sublets. Nostalgic and wistful, the album blends swirling guitars, cigarette-glazed vocals, and icy breakbeats floating between strummy bliss and melancholic desire. Influenced by touchstones like Sonic Youth's Rather Ripped, the forlorn acoustic rock of Elliott Smith, the slippery electronic-rock of Dean Blunt, and California shoegaze à la Further and Starflyer 59, Adult Romantix vacillates between dewy, strummy ecstasy and moody, nighttime desire. [Limited edition red vinyl.]

Duster - Contemporary Movement LP (Numero)
A muffled cry into the technological darkness, Contemporary Movement slid into the world right as the MP3 was seeping out of college dorms. A 39-minute drift into the void, drenched in Cold War-era reverb and then submerged in four track hiss for good measure. Duster constructed a Brutalist masterpiece on the outskirts of a suburban mall, as if to say, "We were here." This numbered 25th anniversary edition is pressed on 180G vinyl and comes with a lyric sheet and poster.
Minus The Bear - Menos El Oso CD/2xLP (Suicide Squeeze)
Back in 2005, Seattle quintet Minus the Bear were riding the wave of a swift upward trajectory with their blend of '90s mathrock fretboard savvy, early '00s electro-indie textural depth, and the wistful melodicism of the more mature strain of Midwest emo. So it was an interesting time for the band to undergo a stylistic sea change. Looking beyond their fellow guitar slingers, Minus the Bear instead found inspiration in the more adventurous pop producers of the era and went full steam ahead with a revamped sound of glitchy guitar loops, modern R&B rhythms, and swirling electronic tapestries on their 2005 sophomore album Menos el Oso. The stylistic shift was a gamble in the waning years of indie rock orthodoxy, but the risk paid off and Minus the Bear's popularity exploded. Twenty years later, Menos el Oso still sounds fresh and vibrant while simultaneously capturing the essence of a specific era where the rules and formulas of guitar-forward music were breaking down. To celebrate the album's anniversary, Suicide Squeeze Records and Minus the Bear are offering up Menos el Oso (Deluxe 20th Anniversary Edition), featuring an expanded tracklist including five previously unreleased demos.

The Who - Live at the Oval CD/2xLP (Universal)
With 35,000 in attendance, on September 18, 1971, The Who headlined Goodbye Summer: A Rock Concert in Aid of Famine Relief for the People of Bangladesh at The Oval cricket ground in Kennington, South London. Newly mixed from the original 8-track analog multi-track tapes, this concert shows The Who continuing their dominance as the top live rock band of the era. The outstanding performance culminates in Pete Townshend and Keith Moon destroying their equipment in a grand finale.
Jack Wilson - Plays Brazilian Mancini LP (Good Time)
Now you can just walk into the store and pick up an album that it took me years to finally track down. Jack Wilson’ Brazilian tribute to Henry Mancini. Back in 1965, partnering with L.A. label Vault Records and a host of top Brazilian musicians, understated pianist Jack Wilson recorded a bossa nova tribute album to Henry Mancini. Now a highly prized Bossa Nova album for jazz collectors worldwide, this wonderful jazz album with all tunes penned by the great Henry Mancini features the great Roy Ayers (vibraphone), and a Brazilian rhythm section featuring Chico Batera (drums, percussion); Sebastiao Neto (bass) and multi-instrumentalist and legendary Brazilian composer Antônio Carlos Jobim (who, playing guitar here under the name of Tony Brazil, just happened to be in town for his early Reprise recordings and sat in on these sessions, arranging and playing guitar on every track). Delivering a unique bossa sound; quiet, subtle in a magical atmosphere, this is a must for bossa aficionados everywhere and includes standout tracks 'Blue Satin', 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and 'Days of Wine and Roses'.
