What's Happening This Week
Things keep evolving here at the new Grimey's. We just got several new record racks and a new 7-inch rack for the 45s and we've expanded our capacity already. Also, we replaced that behemoth new releases vinyl rack that wasn't very practical. Now it's much easier to browse the new releases and we can put way more LPs in the rack. Check it out tomorrow on new release day! Look for some more changes and more added capacity downstairs in the bookstore soon as well.
Speaking of new releases, this week is a big one. You can tell it's close to the holidaze when the big box sets and deluxe reissues start dropping and this Friday's slate leads with the expanded reissue and remix of The Beatles' "White Album". There's also a 50th anniversary deluxe reissue of Jimi Hendrix's 'Electric Ladyland' and (finally!) a nice roundup of all of the recordings by beloved southern indie rockers The Glands. There's even a roundup of all of the early recordings by Fleet Foxes packaged in a box. As for new recordings, we have the final collection from Charles Bradley, plus fresh ones from Muse, J Mascis, Jon Spencer, The Gibson Brothers, Rhett Miller, The Revivalists, Vintage Trouble, Kane Brown and more. We've got the new Boygenius 12" from Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus, and more vinyl from Sufjan Stevens, Stereolab, Queen, Genesis, Elton John, plus picture discs from Metric, Neon Indian, Tokyo Police Club, Sleigh Bells and tons more, all detailed on our new release page.
This week's new addition to the Grimey's event calendar is an in-store performance by Will Hoge, celebrating his new protest album 'My American Dream', for Tuesday, November 20th, at 6PM. This is also a toy drive for the Give A Little Christmas charity so bring a new toy or stocking stuffer for kids from infants to high schoolers and help spread a little extra cheer this year.
We've got more free live music for you this weekend. The Gibson Brothers play on Friday the 9th, at 6PM, and Maggie Rose rocks the shop this Saturday, November 10th, at 5PM. See details about these and all upcoming events on our events page.
Grimey's staffer Will is up next at The Cut, our weekly DJ night at the L.A. Jackson rooftop bar at the Thompson Hotel on 12th Avenue South in the Gulch. Come on out this Monday, November 12th from 11-8pm and chill with Will!
