What's Happening This Week
In the immortal words of Loverboy, everybody's working for the weekend, right? Well it's finally here and we've got lots of great reasons to visit the record store with new releases hitting the racks tomorrow and two very fine live shows in the shop.
On Friday, February 22nd, British soul singer Yola releases her debut album Walk Through Fire, recorded here in Nashville at Easy Eye Sound Studio and produced by Dan Auerbach. Yola will join us for a free, all ages live performance at 6PM on the Grimey's stage on release day.
This Saturday, February 23rd, world-renowned guitar pickers Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles will perform at 1PM, celebrating the release of their recent collaboration Heart Songs. Both guitarists have been bestowed the rare honorary title of CGP (country guitar player) by the late, great Chet Atkins. Fans of exquisite guitar picking and 2-guitar interplay will not want to miss this one.
Also, SUSTO have a new album out tomorrow called Ever Since I Lost My Mind and they're stopping by next Tuesday, February 26th, at 6PM, to rock the shop in celebration. And this week we add a new in-store to the calendar with Glomus, a math rock band from Cookeville, going down Saturday, March 9th, at 5PM. See details about these and all upcoming in-store performances on our events page.
On the new release front, this Friday's slate is led by the Yola release and the new one from SUSTO, plus we've got the new Adia Victoria and the physical release of the much-anticipated Better Oblivion Community Center, the new collab between Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst. Also out are fresh ones from the Claypool Lennon Delirium, Dream Theater, Feels, Lily & Madeleine, Telekinesis, Badflower, Cochemea (from the Dap-Kings), Cardi B, Future and more. We've got reissues from Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield and Michael Rother, plus vinyl from Fruit Bats & Vetiver, Santana, Arctic Monkeys, The Zombies, Grateful Dead, Lil Yachty, a bunch of jazz reissues on vinyl and tons more, all detailed on our new releases page.
Thanks for reading and for supporting your local record store. We're here for you.
