What's Happening This Week
Thanks to everyone who voted for Grimey's in the Nashville Scene 'Best Of Nashville' readers poll! We came in first place for "best place to buy vinyl." We appreciate your support and remember, we're always here for you.
On Friday we've got a fun, spooky listening party for John Carpenter's score for the new Halloween re-boot with in-store trick or treating and some sweet prizes. Fun begins at 6PM and is free and all ages, natch. Saturday we have Bill Eberle performing songs from his fine new LP 'Soft Light' at 5PM. Since that's BEER:30, we'll have free brews for you too. We just announced an upcoming in-store with Saves The Day, on the day their new album '9' is released - Friday, October 26th, at 6PM. Go ahead and, um... save the date! And today we announce a book event with singer-songwriter Darden Smith, who has a new book out (in stock now) called 'The Habit Of Noticing: Using Creativity To Make A Life (And A Living)'. Smith will join us Wednesday, November 14th, at 6PM for a performance and reading. Check out details about all these events on our events page.
Friday's new release slate is led by the much-anticipated new Jason Isbell 'Live At The Ryman' album. We'll have the indie exclusive green vinyl version for y'all. Also out this week are fresh ones from Greta Van Fleet, Will Oldham, Richard Ashcroft, Yoko Ono, Cloud Nothings, Minus The Bear, Disturbed, Ace Frehley, Elle King and more. We've got the new score from John Carpenter for the new Halloween movie, the soundtrack to the new movie on Queen (CD now, vinyl in January), Christmas albums from Los Straitjackets, Lindsey Stirling and Martina McBride, the new archive release from R.E.M. of their BBC Sessions, a new Stax box focused on 1968 and vinyl from Jeff Buckley, Broncho, Alkaline Trio, the Beta Band, Simon & Garfunkel, Jerry Solomon and plenty more, all detailed on our new releases page.
Grimey's own indie pop princess Anna is up next at The Cut, our weekly DJ night at the L.A. Jackson rooftop bar at the Thompson Hotel on 12th Avenue South in the Gulch. And it's Anna's birthday! So come out and buy Ms. Lundy a birthday drink this Monday, October 22nd, from 11-8pm.
Thanks for reading and for supporting your local record store. We're here for you.
