Hitting The Racks

Here's your weekly rundown of what's hitting the new release racks at Grimey's

New Releases

Félicia Atkinson - Sans Visage LP (Shelter Press)

Director Georges Franju's horror classic 'Eyes Without A Face' from 1960 is a hauntingly beautiful film that has earned its rightful place in cinematic history. A black and white fairytale that deftly balances between fantasy and realism, clinical detachment and intense emotion, beauty and pain. For the 2024 edition of the annual Videodroom film festival in Ghent, composer and visual artist Félicia Atkinson wrote and performed a brand new score for the film. Sans Visage brings her sparse piano and glacial electronics to the front, a lovingly constructed homage to the film that underlines the still devastatingly current themes it so brazenly explored.

Baby Rose - Yearnalism CD/LP (Secretly Canadian)

Fresh off winning her first Grammy Award in the Best R&B Album category for her part on Leon Thomas' MUTT, Baby Rose returns with her third studio album Yearnalism, steeped in confidence, care and liberating love. The singer-songwriter-producer defines yearnalism as the process and documentation of desire in its many forms: "Desiring freedom, desiring love, desiring what you can't have, desiring expansion." Rose notes that despite the current trend of "too cool" emotional avoidance in music and entertainment, she pushed herself and her collaborators to bare a different side of themselves. "If you're coming into my court, you're coming to yearn," she declares with a laugh. [Maroon vinyl pressing.]

Consensus Madness - Endeavors LP (Iron Lung)

Chicagoans Consensus Madness have arrived with a short, sharp shamble of a debut album… sung in provincial Midwest accents of course! A love-letter to proto-punk, first wave, and hardcore punk as a whole. Endeavors’ was inspired by a healthy dose of Dangerhouse, UK77, Neue Deutsche Welle, 90s Japanese garage, The Midwest, the grind, and an unending enthusiasm for great music that is still being made in the weird corners of this crazy world.

Daydream Plus - Second Last Day of Summer CD/LP (Run for Cover)

After a lifetime spent playing heavy music, Payson Power formed Daydream Plus in 2020 as a way to explore melodic, catchy compositions, indulging influences he’d only been able to access in brief flashes. After two EPs where the Toronto trio existed in the narrow overlap between intricate math rock and urbane city pop, Power slowly expanded his scope. Taking bits from video game soundtracks, energetic anime scores, and even chords yanked straight from the Steely Dan songbook, Second Last Day of Summer sees Daydream Plus building a more richly detailed world. Aided by Power’s fellow Tomb Mold bandmates, drummer Max Klebanoff and bassist Kevin Sia, the trio work to take the spirit of Don Caballero and apply a sheen of smooth jazz atop it. ["First Run Club" white vinyl pressing.]

Fabienne Delsol - Indigo Red LP (Damaged Goods)

Fabienne Delsol is back with her fifth solo album! Fabienne has been finessing her unique blend of neo- and classic psych, ye-ye, and '60s beat inspired pop since releasing her debut solo album No Time For Sorrows in 2004. Fabienne's recording of 'I'm Gonna Haunt You' (No Time For Sorrows) was featured in the second season of the massive BBC show Killing Eve, opening her music up to a wider audience. Indigo Red is her first album to be recorded at Gizzard Studios by Ed Deegan (ex Toe Rag Studios) at the controls and co-produced by Delsol and Deegan. The album mixes new original songs with covers of songs by artists including Silver Apples, The Count Five, Sharon Tandy, and Francoise Hardy.

Edgar - Pavor LP (Dark Entries)

Edgar debuts on Dark Entries with Pavor, an 11 track LP of sleazy disco, warped synthpop, and gothic cumbia. Veteran musician Luis Gutierrez has spent the past two decades touring in bands, running Lalalandia Studio, and building his practice in Oakland and Guadalajara. But now, for his first solo outing, he has become Edgar, a pop star who knows no limits! From the opening salvos of “Otra Agua,” it’s clear we’re in for a wild ride: seasick synths slide along slamming disco beats, menacingly chanted vocals sit amid a flurry of careening horror movie samples. On Pavor, Edgar brings us a healthy dose of pure excess, reminding us that dread can be a hell of a lot of fun.

Eva Under Fire - Villainous CD/LP (Better Noise)

Detroit rock band Eva Under Fire return with Villainous, their most ambitious and personal record to date. After amassing over 100 million streams and scoring a Top 15 of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay Chart, the Detroit rock quintet have delivered a raw, unflinching journey through grief, identity, and hard-won self-acceptance. The album which features Maria Brink of In This Moment on the title track, chronicles the full arc from falling apart to reclaiming yourself on your own terms. Villainous is Eva Under Fire at their most vulnerable and their most confident. [White vinyl pressing.]

Hayden Everett - So the Sun Can Pour LP (Many Hats)

Hayden Everett is a Seattle-based artist blending folk storytelling with jazz-trained musicianship and expansive production. A UCLA jazz graduate, he writes much of his music on solo backpacking trips, guided by a belief that presence gives art it's weight. His debut EP, produced with Jeremy McDonald (Kevin Garrett, Vulfpeck, Beyoncé), earned placements on 'Grey's Anatomy' and praise from Earmilk, Atwood Magazine, and KCRW. Hayden has toured with The Paper Kites, Hazlett, Trousdale, Luca Fogale, and Vacation Manor.

Everyone Asked About You - Never Leave CD (Numero)

The virally Tok'd Everyone Asked About You return with their first new recordings in 25 years. Never Leave follows up on six midwest emo seeds set into the wind of adulthood. What do we become when the guitar is pawned, when we sing only in the shower, when our hair begins to thin, when our parents die, when the dog is on prozac? Can we crash synths and guitars and ADHD polyrhythms into our abandoned teenage call and response dreams? Catching up a quarter of a century of life in just 13 minutes, Never Leave's four songs are urgently paced -there's no extra time in the couch cushions of middle age.

Fathers - Fathers CD/LP (Blue Note)

New generations of musicians continue to explode existing notions of what jazz is by fearlessly taking the music in new directions. The new collective Fathers consists of four broad-minded artists who have established their presence at the forefront of that movement: producer Kenny Beats, keyboardist Kiefer, bassist CARRTOONS, and drummer Nate Smith. On their eponymous debut album, Fathers, the collective uses jazz as a jumping off point for an 8-track set that seamlessly blends jazz textures, hip-hop beats, and funk grooves into a potent mix.

Girl Trouble - As Is LP (K Records)

Girl Trouble has been staying true to their unique brand of Northwest garage rock in their native Tacoma, Washington all this time, since their founding in 1984. During the last 15 years, the band has recorded dozens of new tracks, nailing down the sound they were after: something more raw and more real. Continuing the experiment, the band decided to put all the recent batches of their recordings together into a "rock tapestry." These sessions represent the polished, overdubbed Girl Trouble in a studio and the live-in-the-room, no frills Girl Trouble, which they've always wanted to capture on a recording. The result is the best of both of these GT styles, and everything in between.

Holy Wave - i'm DADA LP (Suicide Squeeze)

The sixth studio album from Texas melodic space rock fixture Holy Wave finds them stretching their familiar sense of woozy atmosphere into something leaner and more direct. There are more loops and samples woven throughout than before, grooves that feel constructed, cyclical, hypnotic. Some tracks drift toward dub’s elastic spaciousness; others pulse with cinematic downtempo gravity. There is a fresh sense of momentum throughout the record, rhythms that pull forward, dream-saturated textures, sheets of fuzz, and softly suspended vocals.

Houndmouth - Lordy CD/LP (Dualtone)

For the making of Lordy, Houndmouth frontman Matt Myers enlisted a small circle of musicians including Iron & Wine's Sam Beam, MJ Lenderman, Phil Cook, and live touring keyboardist Caleb Hickman to flesh out the band's blend of rock & roll and American roots music. "Everything sounds close, like you're having a close conversation rather than a surface-level conversation." The result is Houndmouth's most intimate record yet, delivering an emotional punch that lingers long after the music fades.

Hurry - Zoned Out LP (Lame-O Records)

Recorded at The Metal Shop by Ian Farmer and co-produced by Farmer and frontman Matt Scottoline, the sixth Hurry album finds the Philadelphia indie rock band operating at full strength. Backed once again by Rob DeCarolis on drums, Joe DeCarolis on bass, and Justin Fox on guitar, the band sounds tighter than ever, so in sync it all feels effortless. From the opening track, 'All Sunk In,' with it's chugging electric guitars and earworm melody, the tone is set immediately. 'Moving After You,' the album's standout, features Gerard Love. It's timeless pop music made for these times. [Olive green & beer color vinyl pressing.]

Infinity Song - Infinity Song CD/LP (Roc Nation)

Infinity Song is a soft rock band based in New York City comprised of siblings Abraham, Angel, Israel, and Momo Boyd. With a blend of tight vocal harmonies, dreamy lyricism and sublime guitar riffs, the band creates a transcendent experience for the audience on every stage and in their recorded music. Their breakout moment came in 2023 with the viral success of "Hater's Anthem," a track shared by millions worldwide, leading many to compare the band to legendary '70s groups such as the 5th Dimension, the Mamas and the Papas, and ABBA. Their self-titled new album features the singles, "Miss Michigan," and "One Foot Out."

Kelela - New Avatar CD/LP (Warp)

Third studio album from the R&B innovator, featuring collaborations with PinkPantheress, Fousheé, and A.K. Paul. Describing the process behind the making of this album, Kelela explains: “My origin story as a songwriter and artist set the context for the catharsis I experienced while making new avatar. I wrote my very first songs in a punk house. The indie scene I was part of provided me with an outlet for genre-defying experiments that illuminated intersections I was hearing in my head. We didn’t spend tons of time on songs cuz the kids in that scene didn’t care about nailing it. It was (lowkey) about messing up, giving 0 f--ks and dismantling the need to be perfect in the first place. It took the pressure off and allowed my first vision of myself to blossom. I used a similar approach with this body of work - moving through with a lot of intention while capturing the freedom and spontaneity that inspired my inception as an artist."

Leenalchi - Here Comes That Crow LP (Luaka Bop)

There's so much to tell you about this amazing Korean band, but what will get you to listen? What if we tell you that they play futuristic psych pop? Or that they sound like animals talking to each other over tripped-out bass lines? Here Comes That Crow is Leenalchi's first worldwide release (on Luaka Bop). "Leenalchi has changed the way I think about music, dancing and Korea. I have never heard anything quite like this. " - Brian Eno

William Matheny - Material Witness LP (Diamond Teeth Recs)

From 2017’s Strange Constellations to 2023’s That Grand, Old Feeling, plus a scattering of EPs and singles, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist William Matheny has earned his place as one of West Virginia’s most vivid and dynamic musical voices. Material Witness, recorded in Nashville with Grammy-winning producer-engineer Justin Francis, raises the stakes with ten original songs that often find Matheny “contemplating mortality and the passage of time,” he says. Tying everything together is Matheny’s voice, a conversational tenor that conveys both hard-won wisdom and heartfelt emotionalism with equal weight and resonance.

Pain Gain - Pain Gain LP (Play It Again Sam)

Pain Gain is the sound of a left turn that became a calling. In 2023, the supergroup trio of Chloe Kaul (Kllo), Hamish Lefevre (SWIM), and Samuel Cooke (CRUSH3d) each shed an electronica persona as they loaded a car with guitars, modular synths, and a tape recorder for a weeklong hideaway in the woods. Their debut album trades velocity for gravity, shrugging off genre as a useful fiction: weaving into indie rock melodrama and out through exalting pop balladry, its ten tracks are a study in personal upheaval. And while vocalist Chloe Kaul's at-times-excoriating lyrics dig and pick at the soul, there is a balance within the band's music where no single voice dominates, and each member presses their weight of emotion into the frame. [Green vinyl edition.]

Panda Bear & Sonic Boom - A ? of When CD/LP/cassette (Domino)

Panda Bear and Sonic Boom’s second collaborative album maintains the sense of musical play brought forth in their triumphant 2022 debut together, Reset. It is built on loops of harp and sequences of steel drum, webs of pedal steel and even bits of a mariachi band. These are, of course, deliberate choices, sounds and textures they’ve never used and that offered a clear sonic break from the success of Reset. It works, too. The pastoral psychedelia of “Something Like Dreaming,” the Wall of Sound soul sway of “Like a Moth to a Flame,” the wildly warped skiffle simplicity of “Revive Him”: Listening to A ? of WHEN feels like being a kid inside this pair’s musical playground, beaming as you bound from station to station. [Indie exclusive pink vinyl pressing and pink & green cassette.]

Party Wave / Forrest Frank - Dawn Patrol CD/LP (Ten Thousand Project)

This collaborative album from PARTY WAVE and Forrest Frank features 16 tracks, blending faith-driven songwriting with a laid-back, sun-soaked sound inspired by surfing, friendship, and early mornings by the water. [Orange vinyl pressing.]

Pimmie - Don't Come Home LP (Santa Anna)

OVO Sound R&B artist Pimmie releases her breakout EP Don't Come Home on vinyl. The EP features the tracks "Call Me When You Can", "Foul", and "BET." [Limited edition Red Velvet color vinyl pressing.]

August Ponthier - Everywhere Isn't Texas LP (Nowhereland)

The debut full-length from indie/country pop singer-songwriter August Ponthier is a coming-of-age album for late bloomers who grew up in a place that didn’t always love them back. "It’s a collection of songs that tackle topics like gender envy, reconnecting with childhood, escapism, generational trauma, and queer joy, all while processing a complicated relationship with your hometown,” Ponthier tells Rolling Stone. While many of the songs explore the complicated relationship between their upbringing in Texas and their queerness, Ponthier explains that there’s still a lot of joy on the record. “When you’re writing about growing up somewhere as vast, complex, and contradictory as my home state, zeroing in on one mood or one conclusion can’t do it justice.”

Gabriele Poso - Maraviglia LP (AG Records)

Maraviglia, the sixth album by Italian percussionist and producer Gabriele Poso, celebrates collective musicianship through a vibrant, groove-driven sound. Inspired by late 70s Italian disco and global rhythms, the record blends Mediterranean warmth, Afro Caribbean percussion and jazz sensibility, with one foot firmly on the dancefloor. Recorded live to tape in an analog studio in southern Italy, with heavy percussion, Rhodes, Hammond and a full brass section, the album delivers an organic, joyful sound built for both deep listening and global dance floors. [Indie exclusive yellow vinyl pressing.]

Princess Nokia - Girls CD/LP (Artist House)

Girls is Princess Nokia at her most fully realized, a bold celebration of femininity in all it's power, vulnerability, and duality. Blending hip-hop and dreamy pop textures, the album moves between confession and high-gloss attitude, anchored by standout singles "Drop Dead Gorgeous," "Medusa," and "Blue Velvet," each capturing a different facet of her sonic and emotional range.

Kira Roessler - Enigma CD/LP (Org Music)

Enigma is the second studio album from Kira Roessler (Black Flag, dos). Following her 2021 solo debut, the record expands upon her minimalistic, bass driven sound, pairing stark arrangements with an understated emotional intensity. Co-produced with her brother Paul (Screamers) and featuring backing vocals from Petra Haden, Enigma unfolds with a precision that highlights Kira's singular voice and compositional restraint. [Purple vinyl pressing.]

The Rolling Stones - Foreign Tongues CD/CD+Blu-ray/2xLP/2xLP+Blu-ray (Capitol)

Foreign Tongues, the vibrant 14-track album from the Rolling Stones, arrives less than three years after the Grammy-winning Hackney Diamonds. Led by the infectious single “In The Stars,” it was recorded in under a month at Metropolis Studios with producer Andrew Watt. Blending their signature sound with fresh sonic territory, the album features Charlie Watts on one of his final sessions, plus contributions from Darryl Jones, Steve Jordan, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith and more. [Indie exclusive green vinyl pressing. Deluxe CD and vinyl editions include a Blu-ray disc with features Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround and Hi-Res Stereo audio, as well as an art print. Deluxe vinyl edition also includes an exclusive slipmat.]

Allison Russell - In the Hour of Chaos CD/LP (Fantasy)

In the Hour of Chaos is less a third “solo record” and more a mixtape to a musical yet to be written. The album comes at a time when connection is needed more than ever. A generative connector and community leader Allison Russell, alongside production team Dim Star, cast a creative circle of collaborators to bring the songs to life, emerging from honest, raw dialogues between friends, lovers, chosen family, humans. The new record features Norah Jones, Joy Oladokun, Kara Jackson, Denitia, Ruby Amanfu, Devon Gilfillian, Kashus Culpepper, Brittney Spencer, Sara Watkins, Kyshona, Julie Williams, Chibueze Ihuoma and Ahya Simone. A lovely essay by poet, essayist, and novelist, Ocean Vuong is included in the album. [Indie exclusive “Aubergine” purple vinyl pressing.]

She's Green - swallowtail / chrysalis 2xLP (Photo Finish Records)

She's Green is a Minneapolis-based shoegaze/dream pop quintet known for their ethereal soundscapes and captivating live performances. This release packages their brand new 2026 EP Swallowtail with their 2025 EP Chrysalis. [Indie exclusive iridescent white vinyl pressing.]

Will Sheff - Extra Mile CD/LP (Solid Ghost Records)

Over the course of his career, Will Sheff has released ten albums that have given the front man of esteemed indie rock band Okkervil River a reputation as one of the greatest working songwriters in the country. Praised as "one of indie rock's most ambitious thinkers" (Pitchfork), Sheff released his debut solo album 'Nothing Special' in 2022 to critical acclaim from The New Yorker, NPR, Uncut, Pitchfork and more, with the New York Times saying it "harnesses both the glow of poetry and the gravity of hymns." Extra Mile follows in the path of Nothing Special, featuring collaborations and contributions from friends and musicians like Griff Goldsmith of Dawes, Zac Rae of Death Cab, Peter Silberman of The Antlers, A.C. Newman, Jenn Wasner, and Christian Lee Hutson. [Deep purple vinyl pressing.]

Show Me the Body - Alone Together CD/LP (Loma Vista)

The fourth full-length from the post-hardcore outfit. Alone Together is an album about praxis. Putting belief into action. The opening line, "radical love compels me to fight," reflects lived experience, standing up for one another and for what you believe in, regardless of outcome. Alongside producers Klas Ahlund and Kenneth Blume, Show Me the Body have recontextualized their core language into something with more clarity than ever before. This is not about atmosphere but direct communication, a call to galvanize ourselves and the people around us. [Indie exclusive silver vinyl pressing.]

Snarls - In Heaven There's Rainbows LP (Take This to Heart)

Snarls is an alternative rock band from Columbus, Ohio, known for their mix of heavy guitars, delicate vocals, and emotionally candid songwriting. Formed by vocalist Chlo White, bassist Riley Hall, and guitarist Mick Martinez, the band emerged from the Midwest DIY scene in 2018 with a sound that blends grunge-tinged alternative rock with indie pop sensibilities. On their new EP, Snarls open up in a way like never before, exploring themes of doubt, determination, addiction, love, lust, and loss - all wrapped up in grungy guitars, booming drums, and gut-wrenchingly ethereal vocals. [Transparent blue galaxy color vinyl pressing.]

Swamp Dogg - Swamp Dogg Contemplates the Afterlife LP (S-Curve Recors)

Swamp Dogg Contemplates The Afterlife showcases this American musical treasure in his most introspective work to date. A Zelig-like figure in modern music history, Swamp Dogg is equally adept at blues, soul, and country – his oft-stated roots — but his new album also encompasses gospel, bluegrass and, of course, rock ‘n’ roll. At age 83, Swamp Dogg takes stock of his life on this album, dealing with issues of regret, nostalgia, mortality, and the mystery of what’s to come.

Tedeschi Trucks Band - Future Soul CD/LP (Fantasy)

With Future Soul, Tedeschi Trucks Band push their sound forward while staying firmly rooted in the soul, blues, and rock that define them. Produced by the genre-fluid Mike Elizondo (21 Pilots, Turnstile), the album finds the 12-piece ensemble leaning into deeper grooves, bolder dynamics, and richer textures. The title track charges ahead with a muscular riff and blistering vocals, while "I Got You" confirms its status as a live-born fan favorite. "Crazy Cryin'" blends gospel-tinged emotion with blues grit, and "Who Am I" offers a reflective turn, balancing Susan Tedeschi's soulful voice with Derek Trucks' lyrical guitar. [Indie exclusive orange vinyl pressing.]

The Temper Trap - Sungazer CD/LP (Mushroom)

Indie-rock group The Temper Trap make a triumphant return with Sungazer, a decade on from their last album. An explosive, anthemic new record that looks to the future as much as embodying their wildly successful past. Including singles 'Giving Up Air', 'Lucky Dimes' and 'Into The Wild', Sungazer sees a new era of The Temper Trap unfurl. The past few years have seen the band return to live stages around the world, huge dance remixes of their hit 'Sweet Disposition' by John Summit, Lost Frequencies and BUNT., and a long-awaited official release of Mac Miller bootleg 'Love Lost'. [Indie exclusive blue vinyl pressing.]

Twisted Teens - Florida Water Blues LP (Going Underground)

Twisted Teens is a rockin' roll band from New Orleans. The Kinks of living in a school bus with no wheels on it. The Rolling Stones of Jungian anarchism. The Buzzcocks of the poisoned bogs of south Louisiana. Punk inflected country music, or country inflected punk music idk. Memetic warfare via earworms (it's extremely catchy). Outperforms all other bands in every metric, drinks every night but still makes it to the gym. Draws no contrast between the familiar and unfamiliar.

Keith Urban - Flow State LP (Capitol Nashville)

Flow State is a yacht rock-inspired album from Keith Urban. [Translucent orange vinyl pressing.]

The War and Treaty - The Story of Michael and Tanya CD/LP (Atlantic)

2x Grammy Award-nominated duo The War and Treaty take a bold step into a new chapter with their hugely anticipated fifth studio album The Story of Michael and Tanya. The characteristically electric project exemplifies the duo's ever-evolving creative growth, driven by honest and unique conversational perspectives. [White vinyl pressing.]

Suki Waterhouse - Loveland CD/LP/cassette (Island)

Suki Waterhouse, the indie pop storyteller behind the critically acclaimed Memoir of a Sparklemuffin, is back with her third album Loveland. Featuring 14 new tracks and co-written with some of music's brightest luminaries including Amy Allen, Aaron Dessner, Joel Little, Dan Wilson, Jules Apollinaire, and Natalie Findlay, Loveland charts the tender distance between who we were and who we are becoming - a meditation on identity and motherhood. It is Suki's most intimate and fully realized work yet. [Available on red vinyl and as a pink vinyl edition with a signed insert.]

Jack White - Frozen Charlotte LP (Third Man Records)

The 7th studio album from Jack White shows the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer at his best, backed by an incredible band (Patrick Keeler on drums, Dominic Davis on bass, Bobby Emmett on keys) whose collective hand is scorching hot after coming off a tour of universally-acclaimed performances. Instead of resting on a "job well done", they went straight to work in the studio and laid down what became Frozen Charlotte. Recorded in White's Third Man Studio in Nashville, this album shows Jack carrying on the same raucous, raw, and frenetic energy from his lauded 2024 album, No Name. 13 tracks of distinct feel and tone, Frozen Charlotte is an intense rock and roll punch with never far behind blues underpinnings... all of which fits right at home with long time fans while leaving an inviting open door to newcomers alike. [Indie exclusive ice blue vinyl pressing.]

Xiu Xiu - Eraserhead Xiu Xiu CD/LP/cassette (Polyvinyl)

In 2016, with the blessing of David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti, Xiu Xiu released and toured the surprisingly successful album and concert, Plays the Music of Twin Peaks. Out of respect and deference to the beloved series, the band decided to put the concert to rest in 2018. After the untimely passing of David Lynch in 2025, Xiu Xiu began to receive several high-profile requests to revive their interpretation of this iconic music. Eraserhead Xiu Xiu is a new live concert with accompanying film & full-length album that uses field recordings, concert specific homemade instruments, organ, modular synths, vocals, flashlights, electrical interference, and elements of musique concrete to express the bizarre emotionality, conflicted sexuality, relentless darkness, and singularly unsettled moonscape of this most incredible of midnight masterpieces. The album is a masterpiece in sound collage and experimentation, with tracks like "Tetra" and "Sleep Synth" shifting from minimal auditory sensations to a clobbering, grotesque cacophony. [Clear vinyl pressing.]

Reissues, Comps, Live Recordings, Vault Excavations...

Roy Ayers Ubiquity - He's Coming (Verve Vault Series) LP (Verve)

Released on Polydor in 1972, He's Coming captures vibraphonist Roy Ayers at a creative apex, as Ubiquity's sound settled into the blend of jazz improvisation, funk rhythm, soul harmony, and spiritual import that would define his work throughout the decade. The album reflects Ayers's deepening move toward a groove-centered musical language rooted in soul-jazz and early jazz-funk. Ayers is supported by a core ensemble that includes Harry Whitaker on electric piano, organ, and vocals; John Williams on bass, with Ron Carter featured on "We Live in Brooklyn, Baby"; David Lee Jr. And Billy Cobham on drums and percussion; guitarists Sam Brown and Bob Fusco; saxophonist Sonny Fortune; and percussionist Juma Santos. The Verve Vault series is always mastered from analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

Black Sabbath - Seventh Star CD/LP (Rhino)

Released in 1986, Seventh Star was the twelfth studio album recorded by Black Sabbath for Warner. The first of three collaborations between guitarist and Black Sabbath founding member Tony Iommi and former Deep Purple and Trapeze vocalist Glenn Hughes, the album featured the MTV and radio hit "No Stranger To Love." This newly remastered edition now includes the single remix version of "No Stranger To Love."

Blue Eyed Soul - You Ain't No Weight LP (Numero)

Left-field Brooklyn soulful lounge from Numero’s Private Mind Garden. Seven lo-fi gospel meditations that bridge the gap between Shuggie Otis and Otis G. Johnson. Get lost in Lynn Marshall’s wavering falsetto and producer Norman Marcelle’s Lowery-brand organ and primordial drum machines. 1980 never sounded so heavy.

Various Artists - Blues in the Mississippi Night CD/LP (Lomax Archive)

The landmark Alan Lomax recording of Big Bill Broonzy, Memphis Slim and Sonny Boy Williamson returns to vinyl for the first time since its initial release in 1959. This is an essential recording - a cornerstone to any blues fan's record collection and an indisputable part of American music history.

Michael Brook - Cobalt Blue & Live at the Aquarium 2xCD/2xLP (4AD)

Inventor of the "infinite guitar," Canadian musician Michael Brook's 1992 4AD record Cobalt Blue is a timeless and quietly stunning collection of instrumental pieces and shimmering dreamscapes, featuring contributions from ambient music pioneer Brian Eno, composer & multi-instrumentalist Roger Eno, and Grammy-winning producer Daniel Lanois. Recorded later that year, Live at the Aquarium captures Brook's rare solo performance in London, highlighting the hypnotic sustain and atmosphere that define his work. Newly remastered by Rashad Becker and presented as a crystal clear 2LP with artwork by Alison Fielding based on the original v23 designs, this set marks the first vinyl reissue of Cobalt Blue and the vinyl debut of Live at the Aquarium - a long-overdue celebration of an underrated gem in the 4AD catalogue.

Apollo Brown - Clouds CD/LP (Mello Music)

On Clouds, Apollo Brown delivers one of the purest distillations of his signature sound - dusty drums, soul-soaked samples, and an atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and timeless. Released early in his catalog, the album floats between boom-bap tradition and cinematic soul, drawing from vinyl crackle, melancholy melodies, and head-nod tempos that reward close listening. Apollo Brown's beats don't rush the moment; they linger, letting emotion seep into every snare hit and chopped vocal fragment. Clouds stands as a foundational chapter in Apollo Brown's journey: a reminder that before the acclaim and collaborations, there was a producer deeply committed to craft, emotion, and the power of a perfectly placed beat. ["Lemonade" color vinyl pressing.]

Cat Power - The Greatest LP (Matador)

Reissued on pink vinyl for the album's 20th anniversary with a reprinting of the original pink foil cover. For The Greatest, Chan Marshall returned to Memphis, pursuing the slinky Hi Records sound of the 70s, famed for its sensuous feel and beguiling rhythms. She got Al Green's guitarist and songwriting partner Mabon "Teenie" Hodges ("Love and Happiness" and "Take Me to the River") to play guitar on the whole album. The Greatest adds to Cat Power's singular sound all the elements that make an Al Green record great: Memphis horns, funky string arrangements, smooth background vocals.

Alice Cooper - Along Came a Spider CD (Earmusic)
Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare 2xCD (Earmusic)

Reissues of two late-career highlights from the "architect of shock rock," Along Came A Spider (2008) and Welcome 2 My Nightmare (2011). Both albums have been expanded for the new reissues. "Along Came A Spider" contains 3 bonus tracks, while "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" contains 7 bonus tracks.

CSS - Cansei de Ser Sexy LP (Sub Pop)

20th anniversary reissue. From São Paulo, Brazil comes CSS, the first South American band Sub Pop has foisted upon the global marketplace. Cansei de Ser Sexy, Portuguese for “Tired of Being Sexy,” is improbably, unbelievably and nearly eponymously their debut. It is a thick, pulsating thing full of haphazard synths (“Alala”) and a come-on of call and response that tears down any attempt at posturing (“Art Bitch,” “Patins”). It is equal parts rock mantra and throwback into something new, transcending boundaries of genre and geography. It careens full speed into dance territory, into the unknown and untouched, to emerge all hot and bothered with wild electro-rock. [Green marble vinyl pressing.]

Miles Davis - Ascenseur Pour L'echafaud 2xCD (Verve)

First released in 1958 by Fontana in Europe and Columbia in America, never had a soundtrack contributed as much to the fame of a film. The contradictory accounts of Miles Davis' creation of the soundtrack have all become part of its legend. Close to seven decades on, beyond the myth, this taut, feverish recording, imbued with extreme dramatic tension, remains one of the most iconic soundtracks in Decca's catalog and one of the only jazz soundtracks which was entirely improvised. This Deluxe 2CD set includes a bonus disc with the complete session takes, 60-page hardcover book, and liner notes by Ashley Kahn & Franck Bergerot.

John Debney - The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water O.S.T. CD (Varese Sarabande)

In 2015's The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, John Debney, a fan of animation and SpongeBob in particular, took his first big screen 3D bite of a rousingly scored adventure. Playing comic lunacy and soaring nobility, Debney enthusiastically captures the screwball spirit of Bikini Bottom with his cartoonishly creative score. Now, Varese Sarabande presents the full CD treasure, featuring a new interview with the composer on his approach for the perpetually optimistic character.

The Doobie Brothers - Takin' It to the Streets LP (Rhino)

The Doobie Brothers' sixth studio album, originally released in 1976, was the first to feature Michael McDonald on lead vocals. 180 gram Rhino Reserve pressing.

Gil Evans - The Individualism of Gil Evans (Verve Vault Series) LP (Verve)

Released in 1964 on Verve, The Individualism of Gil Evans stands as one of arranger-composer Gil Evans' most compelling works, showcasing some of the finest music of his career. The album blends Evans' originals and Miles Davis collaborations with inspired interpretations, all rendered through his distinctive big band lens. A core group of musicians, including Johnny Coles, Steve Lacy, Elvin Jones, and Paul Chambers, lend a remarkable consistency of texture and mood. From the brooding atmosphere of "Time of the Barracudas" to the one-chord intensity of "El Toreador," the album highlights Evans' mastery of tone, space, and orchestral nuance. The Verve Vault series is always mastered from analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

Art Farmer - Listen to Art Farmer and the Orchestra (Verve Vault Series) LP (Verve)

Recorded in 1962 and released the following year, Listen to Art Farmer and the Orchestra stands as one of his most ambitious statements as a leader. The album places Farmer at the forefront of a large ensemble arranged and conducted by Oliver Nelson. The personnel bridges New York's hard-bop scene with leading studio and jazz musicians, with Farmer featured as the principal solo voice against Nelson's full complement of brass, reeds, and rhythm. Guitarists Jim Hall & Barry Galbraith, bassist George Duvivier, drummer Charlie Persip, and pianist Tommy Flanagan support Farmer alongside an expanded orchestra. Nelson's orchestrations give him space to showcase his lyricism and poised tone, balancing tightly arranged ensemble passages with luminous solo statements. The Verve Vault series is always mastered from analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
