Hitting The Racks

Here's your weekly rundown of what's hitting the new release racks at Grimey's

New Releases

Alex Amen - Sun of Amen CD (ATO Records)

Recently released on vinyl, now available on CD. With his indie breed of country/folk-rock, Alex Amen makes his ATO Records full-length debut with 'Sun of Amen': a body of work that opens a space for sustained and quiet wonder, offering up songs touched with both magnetic ease and extraordinary beauty. Last year, with only a handful of singles to his name, the Texas-born / Brooklyn-based artist landed on the lineups to tastemaking festivals like Pitchfork London, Newport Folk, and Austin City Limits.

American Aquarium - New Ways to Lose CD/LP (Losing Side Records)

American Aquarium's latest record was brought to life at the historic Sunset Sound Recordings alongside the inimitable Shooter Jennings. The project finds the band returning to a cornerstone of their sound, delivering a bold, rock 'n' roll album that recalls their critically acclaimed 2012 release Burn.Flicker.Die. With New Ways To Lose, that same sense of urgency returns, sharper and more self-assured than ever. The new record captures the peak of Barham's songwriting: vivid storytelling, emotional precision, and a keen eye for the unfiltered experience of being human. [Indie exclusive transparent yellow vinyl pressing.]

Willow Avalon - Pink Pocket Pistol LP (Atlantic)

The latest album from the country singer songwriter. The best stories always end with the bad guy getting what he deserves. And on Willow Avalon's new album Pink Pocket Pistol, a few cruel men end up on the wrong side of a woman's revenge. [Pink glitter vinyl pressing.]

Balmora - These Graven Halls LP (Daze)

Debut full-length from the melodic metalcore group. Features guest vocals by I Promised The World, Holder and Upon Stone. Scratching on "Ammonite" by DJ Punchdrunk from Empty Shell Casing. [Violet & yellow split color vinyl pressing.]

BCMC - Stash LP (Drag City)

A two-headed, four-handed groove-and-space-based understanding & alignment of purpose laid out in pure BCMC DNA. Cooper Crain and Bill MacKay's keyboard and guitar duo make unbridled electro-ecstatic, intuitive assembly of deep and wide trans-hemispheric sounds. Even if you only like Ummagumma, Nino Rota, King Crimson, Sandy Bull, Crystal Silence/Hotel Hello, you will still want to dig deep into BCMC's Stash.

Ryan Beatty - Sweet Fortune CD/LP (Atlantic)

The fourth studio album from Grammy Award-winning artist Ryan Beatty. Sweet Fortune arrives after nearly a decade in which Beatty has reinvented himself time and time again, traversing the spectrum of the pop world. He delivered hooks for artists like Brockhampton and Tyler, The Creator in the late '10s, then would venture into the ether to dream up his own albums - quieter, blearier, more reflective. In more recent years, he toured with Noah Kahan and Maggie Rogers while secretly working on what would become Beyoncé's blockbuster 2024 album Cowboy Carter. Beatty would go on to win the Album Of The Year Grammy for contributing four songs to the record.

Bouncing Souls - Born to Be CD/LP (Bouncing Souls)

For nearly four decades, The Bouncing Souls have remained a cornerstone of punk rock, influencing generations while continuing to grow a loyal, cross-generational fanbase. Their new album Born to Be captures the band's enduring spirit, exploring themes of connection, resilience, and community in the face of modern challenges. Created collaboratively by all four members and produced by Will Yip, the record reflects a band still creatively energized and deeply invested in their craft. [Indie exclusive clear vinyl pressing.]

Martin Brugger - The Shell LP (Squama)

Five years on from his 2020 debut Music For Video Stores, Squama cofounder Martin Brugger is back on the label with The Shell. It's an introspective record on which field recordings, noisy synths and lo-fi folk guitars yield contemplative emotions with a veiled dream-pop sensibility, the sparse instrumentation and an eerie atmosphere mirroring the quarrels of the inner self. Otherwise created in solitude in his Munich studio, the record features two contributions from label mate Lilian Mikorey (aka PILLBERT).

Chanel Beads - Your Day Will Come CD/LP (Jagjaguwar)

The second album from the experimental project started by New York-based artist Shane Lavers, following the 2024 album of the same name. The second iteration of Your Day Will Come catalogues a sonic shift and evolution in Chanel Beads' sound. This time around, it's layered with more original parts and players. Violinist Zachary Paul has a greater presence, though Lavers continues to toy with the semiotic baggage of plug-ins. The gossamer voice of Maya McGrory can once again be heard across the album, and she co-wrote the majestic "Silver Cup." Casual hangs led to contributions from friends like Tchad Cousins (Urika's Bedroom), Mari Maurice (More Eaze), Anastasia Coope, and Bella Litsa.

Contemporaneous / David Bloom - Dylan Mattingly: The Wild Heart LP (Nonesuch)

The Nonesuch debut from composer Dylan Mattingly, performed by Contemporaneous with conductor David Bloom and vocal soloist Iarla Ó Lionáird. The vinyl edition features two movements - 'Ulysses Dances' and 'Last Dance' - from the five-movement work The Transmutation Notebooks, as well as Sunt Lacrimae Rerum (these are the tears of things).

Downtown Boys - Public Luxury CD/LP (Sub Pop)

Downtown Boys have pushed relentlessly forward as an artistic and political project since their founding in Providence, RI, and their new album keeps politics front and center while summoning the band’s most urgent and powerful sound to date. Sentiments like “everything for everyone,” and “we will have it all” perfectly represent the cathartic, communal live experience this cadre of multi-instrumentalists create. These sentiments also encapsulate the inclusive, joyful fusion found in Downtown Boys’ sound: punk and indie roots mix with Latin traditions, drum machines blend with acoustic drums, saxophones both support and interject between riffs, and layers of synths blend with guitars, doubling or tripling melodies to create blankets of melodic texture. ["Loser Edition" ocean blue color vinyl pressing.]

E.Vax - Just Like Fire LP (Because Music)

The latest album from E.Vax a.k.a. Evan Mast of indietronica duo Ratatat follows his 2021 self-titled album and 2023 soundtrack for Chillin Island.

Fai Laci - Elephant in the Room CD/LP (Easy Eye Sound)

Elephant In The Room (produced by Dan Auerbach at Easy Eye Sound Studios) is Fai Laci's first full-length album after two independently recorded EPs. The Boston-based five-piece is emerging to be one of the most compelling new voices in alternative rock, amassing a fervent fan following through social media, and standout live shows across the Northeast since their inception in 2024.

Feeble Little Horse - Bitknot CD/LP/cassette (Saddle Creek)

The third album from the Pittsburgh-based indietronica/noise rock group. A spirited investigation into the unnatural space created between human nature and a culture of convenience, a synthesis of dirt and digital, bitknot by feeble little horse creates a language wherein one can re-imbue a sanctity of interdependence away from consumptive “self-sufficiency” and materialism. Vocalist Lydia Slocum’s meandering introspection playfully harmonizes against multi-instrumentalist Sebastian Kinsler’s hooks, walls of noise, a supercharged car battery’s worth of synths and samples dropped in the ocean of their guitar-driven songwriting framework. Meanwhile, some of Jake Kelley’s most laser-focused drums to date create a sonic chimera that is as likely to be found nascently developing in the early aughts as some unknown, chromatic future. [Indie exclusive metallic silver vinyl pressing.]

The Field - Now You Exist 12" (Studio Barnhus)

Over the last two decades, The Field has refined a language of repetition that feels not assembled but uncovered. On this five-track EP for Studio Barnhus, the Swedish producer's first solo release in eight years, The Field returns to the sonic architecture that defined his seminal debut From Here We Go Sublime, but with a looseness that allows the structures to breathe. Tracks like "In Our Dreams" and "333 706" move forward on meditative chords, harmonies stretching their reach until the tracks feel elated by their own momentum. The B-side tilts the frame. "Another Day" introduces some melodic immediacy, folding a tender vocal presence into The Field's glittering matrix of sound, softening the grid without dissolving it.

Devon Gilfillian - Time Will Tell LP (Fantasy)

To get to where we're going, we've got to suffer a little. Devon Gilfillian's fourth studio album, Time Will Tell, is the sound of doing exactly that but realizing what a blessing it is to be here at all. This album was recorded in Nashville's legendary RCA Studio A, live to tape on varispeed with mostly single vocal takes and includes the singles, "IRL" and "Black Dog Rabbit Hole." [Yellow vinyl pressing.]

Goose - Big Modern! CD (No Coincidence)

Released 6/19 on LP, now available on CD. Following the back-to-back releases of Everything Must Go and Chain Yer Dragon in 2025, Goose return with Big Modern!, a vibrant next chapter that expands the band's signature indie rock sound with neon-lit inspired synths, driving rhythms, and soaring anthemic hooks. New tracks like "Good2B" and "Good Times // End Times" arrive alongside fan favorites "Big Modern" and "Torero," capturing Goose's adventurous spirit while delivering some of their most bold and dynamic studio recordings yet.

Gwar - Pink 7" (Pit Records)

This limited edition, pink vinyl 7" contains two of GWAR's most popular covers ever. "We're Just GWAR", a cover of "I'm Just Ken" from the Barbie Movie and "Pink Pony Club", a cover of the Chappell Roan song of the same name. Both of these songs broke the internet when they debuted and the videos now have millions of views each.

Boldy James - Hook, Line & Sinker LP (Near Mint)

Boldy James & Your Boy Posca's third collaborative project. Featuring Conway the Machine & Eskondo this time around, Belgium's Posca cooked a full course of fuzzy & moody beats for Boldy to do what he does best - deliver effortlessly witty rhymes reminiscing about street life. [Graphite marble vinyl pressing.]

Loraine James - Detached from the Rest of You LP (Hyperdub)

Forged from the fire of internal struggles, Loraine James was wrestling with confidence and a desire for change when she embarked on “Detached From The Rest Of You," which finds her shifting from club driven sounds and winding instrumentals into more precise song forms. Loraine’s production is stripped to the bone, soundscapes of clicks and glitches inspired by Aoki Takamasa, Ryoji Ikeda, and the early-00s clicks & cuts school. Here, often with not much more than sparse keyboard chords to fill in with subtle colouring, she uses the space around the sounds and vocals to draw the listener in to a succinct and direct album, her most confident yet. Features guests vocalists Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto), Tirzah, and Alan Sparhawk (Low), among others

Jjerome87 - The Canyon CD/LP (Mushroom)

Jjerome87 is the solo moniker of British songwriter, musician and frontman of the critically acclaimed Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello-winning band, alt-J. Recorded in LA alongside producer Carlos de la Gaza, a dedicated group of session musicians and a trio of female vocalists, The Canyon is a collection of alt-J (esque) songs with a Californian, Motown, Blues and Gospel energy.

Greg Kelley & Yoona Kim - Distractions For Trumpet & Ajaeng CD (Relative Pitch)

On Distractions for Trumpet & Ajaeng two radically distinct instrumental traditions converge in a study of texture, fragility, and focus. Kelley’s whisper-quiet trumpet tones and microscopic bursts of air intertwine with Kim’s bowed ajaeng, its coarse, resonant grain stretching and splintering in real time. The result is a taut, immersive dialogue that transforms subtle gestures into seismic events and invites listeners into a heightened space of deep listening and unpredictable detail.

Nduduzo Makhathini - The Myth We Choose CD (Blue Note Records)

With his stunning 4th Blue Note album, The Myth We Choose, the brilliant South African pianist, composer, healer, and philosopher Nduduzo Makhathini explores the ways in which various societies choose their own myths through song. The album, which was co-produced by his son Thingo Makhathini, refracts Makhathini's distinctive sound through a broad spectrum of sonic settings with bassist Dalisu Ndlazi and drummer Lukmil Perez, plus collaborators including Black Coffee, Shabaka, Omagugu, Thando Zide & Muneyi.

Tift Merritt - Sugar CD/LP (One Riot Records)

Grammy-nominated Tift Merritt has long been a torchbearer in Americana. Produced by Lawrence Rothman (Amanda Shires, Margo Price, Lucinda Williams), her new 12-track LP explores the beauty of coming back to one's voice. These songs reclaim the value of craft, intention, and earned perspective, delivered with the raw lyricism that has defined Merritt's career. The record is rooted in the honesty, grit, and emotional clarity that make her one of Americana's most enduring storytellers. [Indie exclusive blue jade color vinyl pressing.]

Missoula - Death Doula CD/LP (Org Music)

Missoula is the instrumental rock project of drummer Brooks Wackerman (Avenged Sevenfold, Bad Religion) and guitarist John Konesky (Tenacious D). Their debut album Death Doula blends metal-leaning precision with melodic, intricately arranged guitar leads and dynamic, technical drumming. The duo delivers tightly composed, high-energy instrumentals that are both complex and immediate. [Blizzard color vinyl pressing.]

Moby - Future Quiet CD/2xLP (Little Idiot)

Future Quiet signals a new chapter for one of electronic music's most enduring and visionary artists. Encompassing modern piano minimalism, ambient soundscapes and a smattering of vocal collaborations, the album finds Moby reflecting on the tension between hyper-connected modern life and the deep human need for stillness.

Muse - The WOW! Signal CD/LP (Warner)

Muse are a culturally-attuned, genre-defying band who channel the anxieties of each era - technology, power, rebellion, and identity - into maximalist, stadium-ready rock that evolves with the times while staying unmistakably Muse. Kicking off with new single "Be With You," this next era of Muse is rooted in electronic experimentation and an insatiable curiosity. The WOW! Signal represents a world of cosmic mystery, existential hope, and the exhilarating possibility of contact with something far greater than ourselves. [Indie exclusive "galaxy marble" red and gray vinyl pressing.]

Beth Orton - The Ground Above CD/LP (Partisan Records)

If Orton's last album, 2022's Weather Alive, lived underwater, suspended, spectral, and dreamlike, The Ground Above marks a resurfacing. It is Beth's most direct and unapologetic music to date; profoundly urgent, embodied, and powered by a new found strength. Where the previous record unfolded in a postictal, time-out-of-time dreamscape, The Ground Above finds Orton firmly back on land, taking a giant intake of air. It documents survival, integration, renewal, and acceptance without resignation. [Indie exclusive "Cigarette Curls" smokey/translucent marble vinyl pressing.]

Pond - Terrestrials LP (Mangovision)

Beloved Australian five-piece POND offer a skerrick of hope in a hostile world with their 11th record Terrestrials. A cyclone of urgent, scorched earth rock'n'roll, Terrestrials tips the hat to the sounds of then while squarely facing up to the here and now. Conceived from a place of reverence for a particularly potent epoch in Oz rock, Terrestrials mines the sound of open sky melancholia, heat haze sizzling on the plains and jangly pub backrooms that hits an eternally poignant nerve for anyone familiar with the sound, time and place. [Blue vinyl pressing.]

The Pretty Reckless - Dear God CD/2xLP (Fearless Records)

The Pretty Reckless' 5th studio album provides the captivating vocals and high-powered musical prowess fans have loved for over a decade. In an emotional message to a higher power, Dear God delivers raw candor and fearlessness. From the sinister "For I Am Death" to the vulnerable yet hopeful "When I Wake Up," listeners are sure to be taken on a rollercoaster of emotions. ["Poltergeist" gray marble vinyl pressing.]

Andrew Sa - American Rough CD (Bloodshot)

Debut album from the queer country crooner. After honing his craft in Chicago's independent music scene and the campy, theatrical world of the Cosmic Country Showcase, Sa collaborated with producer H.C. McEntire to bridge the gap between mid-century country-pop and contemporary indie-folk. The record is a sonic tapestry woven with pedal steel, jaunty horns, and Sa's signature siren-like croon, drawing inspiration from titans like Patsy Cline and Roy Orbison while being deeply informed by the poetry of Arthur Rimbaud and Ocean Vuong. Sa courageously subverts the heteronormative traditions of country music, reimagining the genre through the lens of gay desire to create a space where hardened bodies find each other in the dark and soften.

Cécile McLorin Salvant - With Every Breath I Take CD/2xLP (Nonesuch)

Cécile McLorin Salvant's first orchestral album, featuring Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley. Salvant and the ensemble perform timeless songs newly arranged by composer and bandleader Darcy James Argue., including Stephen Sondheim's "Send In the Clowns," Duke Ellington's "Sophisticated Lady," and Salvant's own "Left Over."

Spacemoth - Inward Eye LP (Greenway)

Spacemoth's Inward Eye is a journey through inner and outer worlds, blending cosmic psychedelic pop with pulsating rhythms and looping textures inspired by nature and memory. Written on the road and shaped in motion, the album expands Maryam Qudus' sound into something more dynamic and immersive. Alongside Spacemoth, Qudus has developed a body of work as a producer and engineer working with Toro y Moi, Spellling, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, La Luz and more. [Indie exclusive "Telepathic Clouds" pink & green marble color vinyl pressing.]

Jon Spencer - Songs of Personal Loss and Protest CD (Shove)

Released 6/12 on vinyl, now available on CD. Songs of Personal Loss and Protest was recorded with Jon's unstoppable touring band, and together they deliver twelve brand-new all-original songs of hyper-driven soul and powerhouse groove, beats hard like diamonds and slick like ice, fuzz bass in your face, and an avalanche of uncontrollable urges, pushing Jon's latest outburst of garage punk explosionism - hollering, drooling, sexified crooning, and vociferously lamenting these difficult times - to new levels of rock'n'roll expressionism.

Switchfoot - Forever Now CD/LP (BMG)

Alt-rock legends Switchfoot are back with Forever Now, an epic return to the band's guitar-driven roots. The project feels less like a collection of songs and more like a defibrillator to the zeitgeist of our times. It's a return to form that shows why they've always mattered and why they absolutely still do. [Light blue vinyl pressing.]

Tasha - You Are Spring! LP (Bayonet Records)

In You are Spring!, Tasha spirits us away from dull, gray winter into a world replete with images and sensations of new life. Think: a riot of bell shaped blooms; blush and citrine and butter yellow; the sky a clear, lungful of blue; warmth, everywhere, kissing skin overwintered and longing for touch. Recorded and produced in L.A. with her frequent collaborator Gregory Uhlmann, You are Spring! follows All This and So Much More, an album written on the heels of Tasha’s involvement in Tony-nominated Broadway musical Illinoise. On her fourth album to date, Tasha continues her sonic progression, described by the Chicago Reader’s Leor Galil as “her indie-rock sensibilities [evolving] to accommodate wide-screen expression,” while keeping “her tenderhearted intimacy intact.”

Temples - Bliss CD/LP (V2 Records)

The fifth full-length from the British indie-psych outfit. [Indie exclusive white vinyl pressing.]

Turnover - Down on Earth CD/LP (Unfd)

Turnover enter a new era with Down On Earth, their first fully independent album. [Indie exclusive green vinyl pressing.]

Adrian Younge - Younge CD/LP (Linear Labs)

Younge is Adrian Younge's magnum opus: an orchestral album written from the perspective of a hip hop producer, and a hip hop record composed with the discipline of classical and cinematic music. Inspired by composers like Lalo Schifrin, David Axelrod, Ennio Morricone, Galt MacDermot, Bo Hansson, and later visionaries such as Portishead's Geoff Barrow, the album draws from a lineage of emotionally charged, forward-thinking music that quietly shaped hip hop decades later through sampling. It reframes orchestral composition not as nostalgia, but as a living language built for reinterpretation.

Reissues, Comps, Live Recordings, Vault Excavations...

The 1997 debut album by the Afro-Cuban All Stars, a project led by Juan de Marcos González and produced by Nick Gold to celebrate the golden age of Cuban music. Celebrating 40 years of Book of Love's debut album! Newly remastered and pressed on crystal clear vinyl, this is the first official vinyl reissue since the album's original release in 1986. Featuring the band's iconic tracks "Boy," and "I Touch Roses," this is an essential 80s synth-pop album.

Boone Creek - Boone Creek CD/LP (Hightone Records)

A lost treasure returns with new surprises! After their tenure with J.D. Crowe and the New South, future bluegrass legends Jerry Douglas and Ricky Skaggs founded Boone Creek (with guitarist Wes Golding and banjoist Terry Baucom). They pushed boundaries with a sound that infused traditional bluegrass with jam and pop. Remastered from the original tapes, this album includes four outtakes that were far ahead of their time.

Bubble Puppy - A Gathering of Promises CD (International Artists)

Straight out of Texas and wired into the DNA of American psychedelia, Bubble Puppy's 1969 debut A Gathering of Promises is back - remastered, restored, and ready to roar again. Cut from the original analogue tapes, this definitive edition resurrects one of the great lost psychedelic albums of the late Sixties - all fuzz, fire, and soaring harmonies intact. The expanded CD edition dives deeper into the trip, featuring all four of the band's singles - eight bonus tracks in total, including four non-album gems and two alternate mixes.

Butthole Surfers - After the Astronaut CD/LP (Sunset Blvd Records)

Riding the least likely commercial success of the 90s with Modern Rock chart topper "Pepper," Austin odd rockers Butthole Surfers returned to the studio in 1998 for the followup, After the Astronaut. Leaning further into experiments with electronics, hip-hop, acid grooves, and the otherwise unusual, the result is a dizzying orbital trip expanding the idea of what's possible in rock music. Disputes between The Butthole Surfers and Capitol Records left the album unreleased, while the band regrouped and re-recorded some of the material for 2001's Weird Revolution, released through Hollywood Records. A quarter century later, Butthole Surfers are realizing their vision for After the Astronaut. Newly mixed by guitarist/producer Paul Leary. [Indie exclusive white vinyl pressing.]

The Jim Carroll Band - Dry Dreams LP (Fat Possum)

The follow-up to Catholic Boy, Dry Dreams is leaner and colder than its predecessor. Jim Carroll trades the debut’s raw shock for a darker, more cinematic intensity: jagged guitars, haunted melodies, and street-poet lyrics that feel like midnight transmissions from New York’s underbelly. Featuring “Work Not Play,” “Lorraine,” and “Barricades.” Long overshadowed, now reclaimed — Dry Dreams stands as a crucial second chapter of the bands career.

Oliver Coates - Pillion O.S.T. LP (A24 Music)

Oliver Coates' score for Harry Lighton's directorial debut Pillion (starring Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård) is not what one might expect for a film centered around a BDSM relationship between bikers. The score is restrained and elegant, with piano driven compositions accompanied by spacey synth flourishes and haunting operatic vocals. What results is a romantic electro-classical soundtrack (including a synth rendition of Erik Satie's "Gymnopédie No. 1") that feels akin to flying down an open road on a speeding bike.

Chris Cornell - Carry On 2xLP (Interscope)

Chris Cornell's second solo studio album, released on vinyl for the first time. Newly remastered by Levi Seitz at Blackbelt Mastering and pressed on 180-gram black vinyl, the 2-LP set includes two bonus tracks, "Today" and "Roads We Choose," plus an unreleased extended intro for "Billie Jean," the cover of the iconic Michael Jackson song. The album also features the theme song "You Know My Name," from the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale.

John Craigie - Lonely Rubber Soul LP (Zabriskie Point)

Live sold-out performance from acclaimed Portland, OR based singer-songwriter John Craigie, covering the entire Beatles' album "Rubber Soul' with his unique blend of wit, humor history and stories told between each beloved song. [Brown marble vinyl pressing.]

Rodney Crowell - Then Again CD/LP (New West Records)

Crowell's "lost" album recorded in the mid-2000s. Once lost and now found, Then Again is something the Rodney Crowell of the 2000s could never have predicted but something the Rodney Crowell of the 2020s recognizes instinctively: a work of nuance, insight, and sensitivity that considers death but celebrates life. “I’m trying to understand that this spirit of mine is going to leave this body and go off somewhere else. I’ve got a pretty good idea that it’s going to be someplace good, but I still need to perfect some part of my spiritual journey here before I check out. I can see that in these songs now.” [Indie exclusive swamp green vinyl pressing. CDs and LPs autographed by Rodney!]

Dead Calm - Accept LP (Hunkofplastic)
Dead Calm - Keep Moving LP (Hunkofplastic)

Vinyl reissues of the prolific young Irish artist's 2023 and 2025 albums. Liam McCay's work under the name Dead Calm explores genres like slowcore and indie rock with poignant, introspective, and often melancholic themes. He began with the fiddle, pivoted to guitar during the pandemic, and has since released several full lengths under a variety of monikers (also including Sign Crushes Motorist and Take Care), even turning down record deals to keep his creative process personal.

Del the Funky Homosapien - Future Development CD/2xLP/cassette (Rhymesayers)

Del's third album and, following his departure from major label Elektra, his first solo full-length for his independent label, Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings. Originally released on cassette in 1997, and later reissued on CD and vinyl in 2002, the album largely relied on in-house production from Del along with contributions from Hiero crew members A-Plus, Opio, and Toure. Sonically, Future Development bridges the funk-heavy stylings of Del's debut with the darker, more futuristic textures he explored on No Need for Alarm. Lyrically, Del refines his rapid-fire wordplay with sharper thematic focus, tackling life in Oakland, societal observations and hip-hop culture, all with a blend of humor, streetwise insight, and multi-syllabic dexterity. [Royal blue and silver color vinyl pressing.]

Doja Cat - Planet Her 2xLP (Sony Legacy)

Fifth anniversary limited edition vinyl reissue, featuring standout tracks like "Woman," "Need to Know," and "Kiss Me More" ft SZA. [Clear pale blue vinyl pressing.]

Eldritch Anisette - Complete Fairytales LP (Numero)

First state femo for the floor-punch averse. Lasting barely a year and never escaping the Delaware Valley, Eldritch Anisette eeked out a 7" and two dozen shows before aging out and leaving six moments of heartfelt adolescence behind for the world to rediscover. 30 years since their soul-baring, Complete Fairytales gathers the band's almost-lost Nick Rotundo sessions onto a single LP with accompanying lyric sheet for easy screaming along with the kids.

Roberta Flack - The Montreux Years CD/2xLP (BMG)

Robert Flack: The Montreux Years presents live performances spanning nearly four decades, from her Montreux Jazz Festival debut in 1971 through to 2008. This new collection showcases her quiet intensity as a live performer, pairing her masterful piano work with her unmistakable vocal presence. It features standout versions of her best loved classics, alongside powerful interpretations of songs by other notable songwriters. All recordings in this collection are previously unreleased and mastered for superior sound quality.

Frail - No Industry LP (Numero)

Post-hardcore, Philly style. Discontent with the metallic youth crew format, Frail pursued Gen-X's ferocious, noisy rage against everything at San Diego's galloping pace. No Industry, the quintet's first and only vinyl compilation, includes vital singles for the Yuletide, Bloodlink, and Kidney Room labels, plus rare comp tracks from across their '93-95 run. Spontaneous Music Live removes the curatorial perspective of their heavily edited studio albums and pulls the curtain back on that search-pluck-reconstruct editing process. What we're left with is the psychedelic realism of the band in situ, in their home town, collectively improvising, fully in-the-moment, mining for that moment of discovery. We hear, in macro, each nugget of sound which could be the basis for a future SML album track, spattered amongst the collective chaos-and-control like stars in the night sky.
