Here's your weekly rundown of what's hitting the new release racks at Grimey's

New Releases

6lack - Love is the New Gangsta CD/LP (LVRN Records)

After a period of reflection and transformation, 6lack returns with Love is the New Gangsta, his most personal era yet. Rooted in self-exploration, healing, and radical honesty, the album finds the GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum artist examining love, identity, and growth as a man, father, and partner. Blending soulful melodies with atmospheric production, 6lack reframes love as the ultimate flex - choosing compassion, vulnerability, and connection over ego. [Clear vinyl pressing.]

Marisa Anderson - The Anthology of UnAmerican Folk Music LP (Thrill Jockey)

Marisa Anderson's music transcends borders. The topography of her work interrogates the intersections of artistry and expression with form and tradition. Anderson crafts pieces bursting with equal parts reverence and curiosity, contouring familiar shapes into work that is wholly her own. The Anthology of UnAmerican Folk Music is drawn from nearly one thousand songs culled from the private record collection of the late Harry Smith. For this record, Anderson works on music from places that the United States has been in conflict with since 1970: Southeast Asia, the USSR and the Arabic and Islamic regions of the world. In Volume 1 Anderson presents her own deeply personal iterations of nine songs from the Anthology. Composed, transcribed and arranged through a process of trial and error, deep listening and research, Anderson charts a musical course across the globe. [Indie exclusive green vinyl pressing.]

Armored Saint - Emotion Factory Reset CD (Metal Blade)

Armored Saint's ninth studio album since 1984′s March Of The Saint is a resurrection of sorts, a tearing down and a rebuilding in eleven songs of diverse musicality and lyrical themes. Produced, as were the previous four albums, by bassist Joey Vera and mixed by Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Stone Sour) the record finds the quintet challenging themselves. Songs like "Close To The Bone," "Hit A Moonshot," and "Every Man-Any Man" have Armored Saint honoring their past as one of the most respected and recognizable bands in heavy music while making forward-thinking music rooted in the present.

The Band Camino - NeverAlways Vol. 2 CD/LP (Atlantic)

The Band Camino return with the second volume of the Never Always album. Never Always Vol. 2 completes the full album experience with standout fan favorites like "Holly!", "Afterthought" and "12:34".

Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello has given this classic tune a fresh coat of paint, turning it into the perfect floor filler for 2026. Contains Basement Jaxx's original 12" version on the b-side.

Bleachers - everyone for ten minutes CD/LP [Dirty Hit]

Dan Byrne - This Is Where the Show Begins CD (Frontiers)

Dubbed by Planet Rock Radio as a “Voice of a Generation” and hailed by Classic Rock Magazine as “One to Watch”, Byrne has quickly carved out a reputation as the UK’s most exciting new voice in rock. His debut album on Frontiers includes his 2024 hit "Death of Me."

Ben Chapman - Feet on Fire CD/LP (Hippie Shack)

Ben Chapman is a road warrior who has spent the previous three years in a whirlwind of activity - writing songs for friends like Hayes Carll, Brent Cobb, and Marcus King; making his Grand Ole Opry debut; and releasing three acclaimed albums of country-fried funky-tonk, but nothing could have prepared him for what 2025 would bring him. His new record 'Feet on Fire' captures that period of wild transition, with songs inspired by Chapman's marriage to fellow songwriter Meg McRee and the arrival of the couple's first child. On songs like the guitar-driven title track, Chapman mixes Pink Floyd atmosphere with Crazy Horse crunch, showcasing the full spread of his musical influences. Elsewhere, he tips his hat to his southern roots with the laidback, loping "Out in the Country" and the Stax-sized soul ballad "Missing You."

Charli XCX - SS26 / Playboy Bunny 7" (Atlantic)

7" single featuring the brand new single and an exclusive b-side.

J. Cole - The Fall-Off 2xCD/4xLP (Interscope)

J Cole's 7th studio album, spanning 24 tracks. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, his 7th chart-topping release. Featuring appearances from Burna Boy, Erykah Badu, Future, Morray, Petey Pablo, PJ, and Tems. [Red vinyl pressing.]

Thomas Csorba - Tender Country LP (Turtlebox Records)

Csorba's third studio album is country music uninterested in posturing, guided instead by tenderness, humor, and an acceptance of impermanence. That mentality comes across acutely in his new single, "The Big Time," a gorgeous country ballad that poignantly illustrates the hardships of a life on the road and the family milestones you can miss along the way.

The Deslondes - Don't Let It Die: Vol. 1 CD/LP (New West Records)

The Deslondes are a five-piece group from New Orleans, Louisiana. The band splits up songwriting and lead vocal duties among its five members, continuing its democratic ethos and musical versatility. Now, with their latest record, Don't Let It Die: Vol.1 the band continues to build on their inventive take on New Orleans country and R&B by covering some of their favorite songs that have inspired their sound and love of music. Don't Let It Die: Vol.1 finds the band covering select songs from artist such as Swamp Dogg, Johnny Cash, Pat Reedy and Hurricane Smith. [Indie exclusive white vinyl pressing.]

Thomas Dollbaum - Birds of Paradise CD/LP (Dear Life)

The realest-deal storyteller in indie-rock today is the Tampa-born, New Orleans-based singer/songwriter Thomas Dollbaum, and Birds of Paradise is his most powerful and dynamic work yet. Following up his critically acclaimed Wellswood (Big Legal Mess, 2022) and Drive All Night EP (Dear Life Records, 2025), Birds of Paradise is a goodbye letter to lost loved ones and former selves. These songs find Dollbaum searching for acceptance in the transient in-between places: Florida's pine flatwoods, backroads leading to 1-95, where birds fly across the water. And even though the ghosts of his alt-county predecessors Townes and Molina are definitely present, on Birds of Paradise, Dollbaum emerges from their shadows-waving to the past, sounding all the more like himself. [Pink vinyl pressing.]

Drivin n Cryin - Crushing Flowers LP (Drivin n Cryin)

The first full length from the roots rock outfit since 2019's Live the Love Beautiful.

Noah Gundersen - Rites of Spring CD/LP (Noah Gundersen)

Noah Gundersen has been writing and recording music since he was 13, working his way from teenage hardcore to indie rock to the creation of his own distinctive strain of bold, genre-busting songcraft. Noah takes vulnerability to a new level on his album 'Rites of Spring,' produced by Andy D. Park (Medium Build, Joseph, Pedro the Lion, Death Cab For Cutie.) [Pink vinyl pressing.]

Hammock - The Second Coming Was a Moonrise LP (Hammock Music)

Now over twenty years together as a working duo, Hammock continue their remarkable string of sonic explorations with The Second Coming Was a Moonrise. Byrd and Thompson, both primarily guitarists, have found their musical bonds becoming ever stronger as their shared work grows even more dramatic and richer over the years, pursuing a feeling of sweeping, shimmering sonic awe that can never simply be summed up as anything other than itself. The Second Coming Was a Moonrise continues those sensations of exploration, feeling at once like one of their most intimate releases while exploring the rich sense of majesty that they can create in turn.

HYD - Hold Onto Me Infinity LP (Cascine)

HYD creates dynamic, seductive pop music that blends experimental sounds with striking visual worlds. Led by artist Hayden Dunham, whose debut album Clearing quickly gained attention for its bold mix of art, music and performance. With HYD, Dunham brings a multidisciplinary vision into the pop arena, treating sound, visuals and performance as one immersive experience. HYD’s sophomore album Hold Onto Me Infinity expands this universe further, pairing shimmering pop songwriting with a sense of reinvention. Features production from SOPHIE as well as her brother (and chair of her estate) Benny Long.

Little Barrie - Gravity Freeze CD/LP (Easy Eye Sound)

Cast in the grand tradition of great British rock bands and fueled by a love of American blues, funk and soul, Little Barrie return with Gravity Freeze, their sixth and most satisfying album to date, on Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound label. This time around the hooks are sharper, the grooves are deeper and the atmospherics thicker. The nine tracks on offer build on the band's previous, highly acclaimed work - their contribution of the Better Call Saul theme tune included.

Lowertown - Ugly Duckling Union LP (Summer Shade)

Sophomore album from the New York-via-Atlanta indie rock duo. Ugly Duckling Union is a concept album based on the band's own experiences of forging a community through their music. Duckling protagonist Dale and his companions band together to defeat LBH, a tyrannical media corporation set on separating and isolating in their pursuit of control. Lowertown are perhaps best known for their affecting musings on the melancholia of youth, always captured with biting honesty. But on Ugly Duckling Union, that anguish is funneled through a more mature, detached, and humorous lens.

Namasenda - Limbo LP (Year0001)

Naomi Namasenda emerged from a small town in southern Sweden to become one of modern pop music's most unabashed talents. Unapologetically pop yet constantly pushing at its edges, her debut album Limbo balances euphoric dancefloor impact with raw confession and razor-sharp humor. Endless glamour sits alongside vulnerability, urgency and risk-taking, as Namasenda reclaims pop music as a space for emotional truth. The album features contributions from an all-star team including Noonie Bao & Linus Wiklund (Charli XCX, Avicii), Medium (Ashnikko, Lady Gaga), Minna Koivisto (Fever Ray), and Oscar Scheller, and visual design by Viktor Hammarberg (SZA, Addison Rae), reinforcing the project’s laser-focused position at the forefront of international pop.

Ed O'Brien - Blue Morpho CD/LP (Transgressive)

Solo album from the Radiohead guitarist. Named for the iridescent butterfly, Blue Morpho was written during lockdown and recorded at The Church Studio, London and Seven Sound in Wales. The tranquil Welsh countryside proved inspirational, capturing a sense of reflection, healing, and acceptance. Musically the album blends a collage of hypnotic psych-folk, jazz, trip-hop, radiant guitars and rhythm sections. Blue Morpho marks a fresh and deeply personal chapter in O'Brien's musical journey. Produced by Paul Epworth (Adele, Coldplay), with additional production from Riley MacIntyre (Ezra Collective), and mixed by Ben Baptie (Sault, Little Simz). The album features an array of musicians, such as Shabaka Hutchings (flute), Dave Okumu (guitars, bass), Philip Selway (drums), and The Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. [Indie exclusive orange vinyl.]

One Leg One Eye - Crone CD/LP (AD93)

New album from the experimental/folk/drone outfit founded by Ian Lynch of Dublin-based group Lankum along with noise musician George Brennan. Features vocal contributions from actor/performer/writer/director Olwen Fouéré.

Maisey Peters - Florescence CD/LP (Atlantic)

Florescence is the third studio album by British singer Maisie Peters through Gingerbread Man Records and Atlantic Records. Co-produced with Ian Fitchuk, the 15-track album centers on themes of healing, self-realization, and love. It features singles like "You You You" and "Audrey Hepburn". [Clear vinyl pressing.]

Samuel Smith - The Art of Letting Go CD (Compass Records)

Some records are made despite everything working against them. The Art of Letting Go is one of them. Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2020 at age 44, the London-based singer-songwriter has spent the past five years finding ways to keep writing as the condition slowly took away his ability to play guitar. The result is a Nashville-recorded album, produced by two-time Grammy-winner Matt Rollings and featuring some of the most celebrated names in American roots music, all held together by the kind of hard-won clarity that only comes from facing something you can't outrun. The album was recorded with a constellation of musicians, including dobro master and 16-time GRAMMY winner Jerry Douglas, GRAMMY-winning banjo pioneer Alison Brown, fiddler Stuart Duncan, and guitarist Bryan Sutton. Vocal trio Tiny Habits, singers Jonatha Brooke and Glen Phillips, and jazz guitarist Julian Lage also feature.

Sosyete '25 - Yaygara LP (Tru Thoughts)

A vibrant, groove-led journey through love, liberation and the restless curiosity that fuels desire, humor and connection. Bringing together songwriter and vocalist Merve Erdem (Kit Sebastian), guitarist and producer Glenn Fallows, and producer/multi-instrumentalist Paul Elliott, the trio blend Mediterranean disco-pop, outernational funk and poeticism into a sound that feels both transportive and instinctively alive.

Steep Canyon Rangers - Next Act LP (Yep Roc)

The 15th studio album from Steep Canyon Rangers is a vibrant return to the band's bluegrass foundation, infused with fresh energy and heartfelt storytelling. Founding Ranger Graham Sharp delivers some of his most compelling songwriting to date, crafting songs that are rich in tradition yet strikingly relevant. The recent addition of powerhouse vocalist Aaron Burdett brings a new emotional depth to the group's sound, his voice seamlessly blending with the band's signature harmonies. Featuring special guest appearances by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, Next Act is both a celebration of the band's roots and a bold step forward.

Thee Marloes - Di Hotel Malibu CD/LP (Big Crown)

Sophomore album from the Indonesian soul group. Composed of vocalist and keyboardist Natassya Sianturi, guitarist and producer Sinatrya Dharaka and drummer Tommy Satwick, Thee Marloes have always worked as a unit, their songs shaped by shared reference points and a lived-in sense of groove. On this album, that collective language expands. The arrangements move across a broader spectrum, with new instrumental colors, unexpected rhythmic turns, and a looser approach to structure. The band describes it as a response to the last two years of living: social realities, love lives in flux, and all that success has brought into their lives. [Indie exclusive green vinyl pressing.]

Underscores - U (Mom + Pop)

A self titled album of sorts and the culmination of all her work to date, U draws from the many eras of underscores' creative trajectory, from dubstep and future bass to jazz chords and guitar driven maximalist pop, forming her most focused, emotionally charged and sharply defined statement yet. Featuring the singles Music, Do It, and Tell Me (U Want It), U further expands the intricate, high impact world she continues to build. [Clear vinyl pressing.]

Visible Cloaks - Paradessence LP (RVNG Int'l)

Visible Cloaks' third full length is a work of emergence and illusion. The album's fourteen songs shift, heave, and shimmer against a faintly luminous backdrop of night, a cavernous space shaped by sparse hyperreal representations of the natural world. The arrangements are simultaneously grandiose and fragile, both an inversion and culmination of what came before and as adventurous as anything they've produced so far. Silence is an important character in Paradessence, felt not only in the sculpting of sound but in the pressure it exerts on everything and what emerges. We hear how sounds carry their own silence, oscillating in and out of existence, running through life cycles like a microorganism. There is a collectivity to the instruments that underpin Paradessence. They move like a herd, as when wind drifts over a field of leaves and the air becomes visible in the absence of motion; multiple species cohabit the same song, protruding, receding, and transforming over the course of several minutes. Song-forms steer away from ambience towards pure abstraction. Utopianism hovers at the edges; a relationship to imagined futures which is neither naïve, cynical, nor nostalgic. [Silver vinyl pressing.]

Reissues, Comps, Live Recordings, Vault Excavations...

The Album Leaf - One Day I'll Be on Time 2xLP (Numero)

Ambient post-rock from San Diego's millennial post-hardcore retreat. Tracked between Tristeza tours, The Album Leaf 's sophomore album weaves delicate guitar noodling, tinkling piano, reflective synth, eerie field recordings, and driving percussion into a meditation on the passage of time. This remastered 25th anniversary edition replicates the original, with fresh notes from author Adam Gnade and previously unpublished photos. A devastating hour of aural photosynthesis. [Clear vinyl pressing.]

Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You LP (Parlophone)

Originally released in 2009, it was produced and co-written by Greg Kurstin, with whom Allen had previously worked on her debut studio album, Alright, Still (2006). Amyl & the Sniffers - Giddy Up / Big Attraction CD/LP (Amyl & the Sniffers)

Ten years ago, in a sharehouse on Chapel Street, four 20-year-olds with zero expectations wrote and recorded an EP in a single afternoon. Those six blistering minutes of music became Giddy Up. An hour later, Amyl and The Sniffers had a name, a Bandcamp upload, and the beginnings of a legacy. Following a year of backyard gigs, playing for friends and partying across Melbourne's sticky carpet music scene, the band released their iconic second EP Big Attraction in 2017. Now, to celebrate a decade of raw power and reckless spirit, Giddy Up/Big Attraction returns in a definitive 10th anniversary 12-inch vinyl edition - fully remastered for maximum punch. Featuring early classics like "I'm Not A Loser" and "Stole My Pushbike," plus enduring live favourites "Balaclava Lover Boogie" and "Westgate," this is the sound of Amyl and The Sniffers before the world caught up - feral, funny, and unstoppable.

Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us LP (Epitaph)

All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us celebrates 10 years since its original release in 2016 with a newly remixed and remastered presentation. Recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden All Our Gods... is the heaviest and darkest work to which frontman Sam Carter, bassist Ali Dean, guitarists Adam Christianson and Tom Searle, and the latter's twin brother drummer, Dan Searle have ever put their name to, both on and below its surface. It is an album that challenges and progresses a genre long thought to have stagnated, and embraces its inspirations at a time when many rock and metal bands seek to hide them in search of mainstream acceptance. [Black and white splatter vinyl pressing.]

Ray Barretto - Acid LP (Craft Recordings)

Ray Barretto's 1968 Fania debut Acid bursts with Latin soul, salsa, funk, boogaloo, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and jazz with English and Spanish lyrics-a recording that helped define an era. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl with AAA lacquers from the original master tapes, this reissue delivers pure analog energy. Highlights include the Afro-Cuban jazz title track "Acid," the boogaloo classic "A Deeper Shade of Soul," and the Latin soul opener "El Nuevo Barretto."

David Bazan - Strange Negotiations LP (Barsuk)

Bazan built his dedicated following as the songwriter and driving force behind the acclaimed indie band Pedro the Lion. During his time releasing music under his own name via Barsuk, his extraordinary melodic sense and erudite, theologically-themed songs began to focus overtly on his own crisis of faith after having been raised in the evangelical Christian movement. With this reissue, Barsuk marks the 15th anniversary of David Bazan's masterful Strange Negotiations - the prophetic 2011 meditation on what he was already seeing as a developing crisis of American and global social fragmentation. [Aqua blue vinyl pressing.]

Doug Carn - The Best of Doug Carn LP (Soul Jazz)

This album brings together key tracks from Doug Carn, recorded for Black Jazz Records in the 1970s. Doug Carn is one of the most important (and least recognised) forces in the creation of the canon of 'deep and spiritual jazz music' - full of powerfully emotive intensity, consciously-uplifting lyricism and addictively beautiful melodies. Aside from his songwriting and keyboard skills, many of the tracks here feature the stunning and powerful 5-octave range vocals of Jean Carn (later Carne), his wife at the time. Musicians featured on this album include Alphonse Mouzon, Charles Tolliver, Henry Franklin, Michael Carvin, Walter Booker, Ronnie Laws and others. Aside from Carn's compositions there are also striking interpretations of music by Lee Morgan, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Bobby Hutcherson and Wayne Shorter.

Davis' seminal nonet recordings were captured in 1949-50 with a cast of notable collaborators including Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz and Gil Evans. This mono Blue Note Tone Poet Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog phono reel master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket featuring session photos.

Future Islands - From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth 2xLP (4AD)

Future Islands are an emotionally charged synth pop group, known for their dexterous melodic touch, stately momentum and impassioned delivery. Over the past twenty years they have travelled a rare arc, from promising newcomers to best-kept secret, from cult favourites to heroes of the genre. As they reach this remarkable milestone, they resist the obvious move. Instead of a 'best-of' compilation victory lap, Future Islands present From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth - an immediate and accessible collection - half of which have never appeared on streaming services - comprising alternate hits, rarities, and fan favourites that showcases the band's palette and bringing further colour to their uniquely universal appeal.
