Hitting The Racks
Here's your weekly rundown of what's hitting the new release racks at Grimey's
New Releases
The Amity Affliction - House of Cards CD/LP (Pure Noise)
The Amity Affliction return with one of the most personal and devastating records of their career. Following a decade-plus run as one of Australia's most influential heavy bands, marked by platinum certifications and global touring off landmark releases like Let The Ocean Take Me and This Could Be Heartbreak, the new album turns inward with unflinching honesty. Largely written about frontman Joel Birch's relationship with his late mother, the record explores grief, trauma, faith, and self-reckoning through a series of deeply connected songs. Musically massive and emotionally raw, this album stands as The Amity Affliction at their most vulnerable, cathartic, and fully realized. [Red & white splatter vinyl pressing.]
At the Gates - The Ghost of a Future Dead LP (Century Media)
The 8th studio album by the melodic death metal masters and pioneers of the "Gothenburg Sound", At the Gates. The Ghost of a Future Dead contains 12 tracks with a runtime of 42 minutes. Recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Kreator, Amon Amarth, Opeth, etc.). Album artwork by Robert Samsonowitz. [Translucent sea blue vinyl pressing.]
Atreyu - The End is Not the End LP (Spinefarm)
The End is Not the End is undeniably Atreyu's heaviest and most adventurous album ever. Unburdened by false restrictions about anything sounding "too heavy" or "too pop," Atreyu remains a creative beacon of hope for those shaken by the suggestion that "rock is dead." They've entered the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 more than once, and two of their albums are certified gold. Produced by Matt Pauling, Atreyu's tenth album is vibrant, inventive, and beautifully aggressive. "It's our heaviest, most metal record we've made," frontman Brandon Saller points out. "But it's also the biggest musical journey we've taken in years." [Orange vinyl pressing.]
Nessa Barrett - Jesus Loves a Primadonna LP (Warner)
Nessa Barrett's EP "Jesus loves a primadonna" is all about love. It's beauty and demise. The villain origin story of every woman who has loved until she can not love anymore. It features lead singles "High On Heaven" and "Stay With Me" as well as 6 new songs that have been co-written between Nessa and producers CJ Baran and Arthur Besna - collaborators who helped bring her vision to life on Aftercare. [Clear vinyl pressing.]
Blood Sucking Maniacs (feat. Terry Allen) - Blood Sucking Maniacs CD/2xLP (Paradise of Bachelors)
Blood Sucking Maniacs, the Allen family band, helmed by patriarch and matriarch Terry Allen and Jo Harvey Allen, spans five generations and 121 years, including (among others) their sons Bukka and Bale Allen; grandsons Kru, Sled, and Calder Allen; Panhandle Mystery Band mainstays Charlie Sexton, Lloyd Maines, and Richard Bowden, and frequent collaborator Will Sexton. The wild and wide-ranging songs collected on their eponymous album are miscellaneous and multiplex, comprising heartrending ballads and arch in-jokes on a spectrum from sublime to unabashedly sentimental. The unifying principle here is not so much blood harmony as blood entropy. Get sucked.
Chet Faker - A Love for Strangers LP (BMG)
Chet Faker's third album, A Love For Strangers, featuring the singles "Far Side of the Moon", "Inefficient Love" and "This Time For Real". [Green vinyl pressing.]
A.G. Cook - The Moment O.S.T. LP (A24 Music)
Aidan Zamiri and Charli xcx's "The Moment", a mockumentary about the chaos of fame, is driven by a heart-pounding electronic score from beloved producer and artist A. G. Cook. Capturing the electric rise of BRAT, the score is a collection of dance-forward tracks, pulsing with a delightfully frantic energy. The score's darkest and deepest moments are balanced by ambient sonic expanses with elegant layers of synth pads and captivating melodies to create a soundtrack that mirrors film's duality.
Julia Cumming - Julia CD/LP (Partisan)
Julia, the debut album from Julia Cumming, embodies the joy and freedom that comes from embracing one's true self. An NYC native, Julia has spent the last decade fronting Sunflower Bean and serving as the muse of campaigns for the likes of YSL and DKNY. While these details could easily cast a 'too cool' persona, the record reveals something much more earnest, timeless and personal. Julia is able to pay homage to the glamour of the performer and the heart of the songwriter simultaneously. [Indie exclusive red vinyl pressing.]
Mikaela Davis - Graceland Way CD/LP (Kill Rock Stars)
Acclaimed harpist and songwriter Mikaela Davis' new album builds an expansive, kaleidoscopic neo-western dystopia from the cozy origin point-that duality compounded by a subtle exploration of light and dark, grace and struggle, rose and thorn, as well as the mystical power found at their meeting points. The "canyon country" epic born of that work is indebted to the titular street in Chevy Chase Canyon where she recorded the album, the lineage of Laurel Canyon, the mythos of Elvis's Graceland, and Paul Simon's restless reinvention. "At the end of the journey, the place you were destined for all along isn't even a place, it's a state of mind: Graceland Way," Davis says. Featuring contributions from Karly Hartzman (Wednesday), Tim Heidecker, Madison Cunningham, Neal Francis, and more. [Golden Poppy color vinyl pressing.]
Angelo de Augustine - Angel in Plainclothes LP (Asthmatic Kitty)
Angelo de Augustine returns with his fifth album and most inspired work yet - a deeply felt rendering of his multi-year journey of healing and renewal. The record showcases de Augustine's powerful melodies and poignant lyrics across tracks like the haunting elegy "Empty Shell," the hopeful "Spirit of the Unknown," and standout psychedelic country piece "Mirror Mirror." Written, recorded, arranged, produced, and mixed by the artist at his recording studio A Secret Place in Southern California, the album marks his first time welcoming collaborators in years, including string arranger Oliver Hill (Kevin Morby, Helado Negro), harpist Leng Bian, background vocalist/percussionist Wendy Fraser, producer Thomas Bartlett (who produced de Augustine's Tomb, as well as St. Vincent, Bebel Gilberto), and co-producer Jonathan Wilson (Angel Olsen, Father John Misty) on "The Cure."
Gareth Donkin - Extraordinary LP (Drink Sum Wtr)
True to its name, Extraordinary, Gareth Donkin's second album widens the scale of his virtuosic soul-pop songcraft not just on a sonic level, but in a profoundly personal way. A step wiser and more confident, the London-based singer-songwriter and producer let's go of past constructs to celebrate the present tense with his most sophisticated, vast, and dazzling work to date, nodding to disco, R&B, and funk greats with playful charisma and modern sheen. He says, "Extraordinary is about taking ownership of your life, embracing new experiences and adventure."
Dry Socket - Self Defense Techniques LP (Get Better Records)
Dry Socket is a politically charged hardcore band from Portland, Oregon, known for blistering performances and emotionally uncompromising songwriting. Rooted in the raw aggression of classic hardcore, their sound channels the urgency of early Ceremony, G.L.O.S.S., and Negative Approach while carving out a distinctly modern, inclusive space within the genre, one where anger, grief, and survival are not just themes, but lived realities. Dry Socket has toured extensively across the U.S., Europe, and Mexico, sharing stages with Gorilla Biscuits, The Hope Conspiracy, Torso, and more. Their latest record, Self Defense Techniques, centers on survival under constant pressure. Songs wrestle with exhaustion, spiritual betrayal, and economic violence, oscillating between fury and grief. Self Defense Techniques isn't about triumph, it's about endurance, documenting the cost of staying alive while refusing the lie that softness is weakness or that silence is peace
Emarosa - High Horse Heaven LP (Out of Line)
A record drenched in vintage glamour and emotional honesty, both musically and visually, High Horse Heaven expands Emarosa's sonic universe, offering a richer, more refined expression of the sound they've been shaping over the past few years. Frontman Bradley Walden remains the undeniable centerpiece - his voice elastic, soul-stung, and impossible to ignore. Across the new album, his performance captures a full spectrum of vulnerability and defiance, wrapped in shimmering synths, lush textures, and bold hooks that echo the golden age of 80s pop with a modern pulse.
Failure - Location Lost CD/LP (Arduous Records)
Influential shoegaze pioneers, Failure, return after 5 years with their seventh studio album, Location Lost. The LP features nine new tracks, showcasing a focused, modern vision of their signature alternative space-rock sound, including the mesmerizing track, 'The Rising Skyline," featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams. The album follows the band's 2025 documentary "Every Time You Lose Your Mind." which spans the band's career & legacy. [Indie exclusive white vinyl pressing.]
Flying Mojito Bros - Just Passing Through LP (Ubiquity Records)
The first album of original music from Americana and dance music-obsessed English artists Flying Mojito Bros. Just Passing Through showcases FMB's evolution, combining their signature re-edits and remixes with live band recordings. It's a bold step in their journey, blending 1970s-inspired rock and electronic rhythms with collaborations from top musicians like Shawn Lee (Young Gun Silver Fox), Joe Harvey-Whyte (The Hanging Stars), and Joe Stoddart (ABBA Voyage). This album marks a new chapter in FMB's creative journey, capturing their exploration of redefined Americana and the cross-cultural rock exchange between the US and UK. [Pink & orange vinyl pressing.]
Foo Fighters - Your Favorite Toy CD/LP (RCA)
Preceded by its addictive new title track and last year's incendiary "Asking For A Friend," Your Favorite Toy is Foo Fighters' 12th album - and quite possibly their hardest rocking to date. Burning through 10 absolute bangers in under 40 minutes, Your Favorite Toy demands and rewards repeat listens in equal measure. It's Foo Fighters pushing boundaries as they pin the volume meters, adding new dimensions to their timeless signature sound. [Indie exclusive red vinyl pressing.]
Friko - Something Worth Waiting For CD/LP (ATO Records)
Chicago's Friko returns with their anticipated sophomore album, produced by Grammy winner John Congleton, embracing a bolder sense of abandon, exploring noise-rock, avant-garde classical & 70s-era symphonic balladry. Their debut introduced a galvanizing new voice into the indie-rock canon, landing them on the cover of NME & Pitchfork's best of year list. "Something Worth Waiting For" locates an elusive balance between the wide-eyed idealism of youth & the self-possessed grit of lived experience.
Doug Gillard - Parallel Stride CD/LP (Dromedary Records)
Parallel Stride is the fourth solo album from Doug Gillard, the Ohio-bred, New York-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Guided by Voices and Nada Surf. Long celebrated as one of American indie rock's most distinctive guitarists, Gillard's solo work centers on timeless songwriting values: hook-driven melodies, emotionally resonant lyrics, and finely crafted performances. Across eleven engaging tracks, Parallel Stride delivers vivid wordplay and magnetic melodicism, often summed up by the shorthand "Wire backing Paul McCartney." Recorded in the New York City area with co-producers Tom Beaujour and Travis Harrison, the album stands among the most compelling work of Gillard's career.
Glen Hansard - Don't Settle (Vol. 1 - Transmissions East) (Plateau Records)
"Don't Settle - Transmissions East" is the first release of two volumes coming out this year. Highlighting an incredibly prolific and diverse career, this isn't just a 'Best Of' - it's a live studio album, it's no second takes, no autotune, no editing. Just live, raw, direct energy that captures the magic of Glen like nothing released before. Recorded at the legendary Funkhaus in Berlin, a historical East German radio and recording studio, with a huge acoustically perfect orchestral live room - the album was captured in a controlled studio environment, yet recorded and filmed across two nights in the round, with 600 fans in the room each night.
Joy Harjo - Insomnia and Seven Steps to Grace 2xLP (Smithsonian Folkways)
As a poet and musician, Joy Harjo channels a creative force she describes as a "vibration of love" to connect countless traditions and artforms, countering the despair and heartache caused by power and hate. Insomnia and Seven Steps to Grace, her debut for Smithsonian Folkways, draws on the long-intertwined rhythms of jazz and poetry, the power of improvisation and self-expression through sound, and the vitality of Native culture and spirituality to spark a chain of vibrational energy to engulf the whole world. Harjo's voice is bold and direct, supported producer and bass player esperanza spalding, covering a repertoire that includes a jazz standard, a song written by Harjo's mother and uncovered by her sister, and many originals that speak to contemporary issues and her life as one of the most celebrated American poets of the last century.
Noah Kahan - The Great Divide CD/2xLP (Mercury)
The Great Divide, the highly anticipated new album from 2x Grammy nominee Noah Kahan. A reflection on Noah's past, his now-complicated relationship to family, friends, his native Vermont, as well as the disconnect and distance that silence and unspoken truths create between people. Produced by Stick Season collaborator Gabe Simon as well as new collaborator Aaron Dessner. [Limited edition indie exclusive transparent beer bottle color vinyl pressing.]
LICE (Aesop Rock & Homeboy Sandman) - Miami Lice: Season Four 12" (Rhymesayers)
Aesop Rock & Homeboy Sandman return with the latest installment in their ongoing Lice series with Miami Lice: Season 4. This time around, Aesop Rock handles all the production, balancing moody synths with drums that range from stark and heavy, to feel-good vibes with a bit of bounce.
M83 - Resurrection O.S.T. LP (M83 Recording Inc.)
M83 is one of the most influential electronic artists of the past two decades, known for his singular ability to merge synth-driven emotion with cinematic scale. From Hurry Up, We're Dreaming to numerous film and soundtrack works, his music consistently bridges pop culture and auteur cinema. His latest album is the original score for Bi Gan's visionary science-fiction film Resurrection, selected in Official Competition at Cannes 2025 and awarded the Prix Spécial du Jury. Released on M83's new label Other Suns, Resurrection unfolds across 10 instrumental pieces + 2 silent film bonus tracks, blending ethereal electronics and orchestral textures. The vinyl edition includes the original soundtrack of "Resurrection" on a 12" LP and a bonus 10" vinyl with two tracks taken from the soundtrack to a silent film ("Fantasmers") within the film.
Gia Margaret - Singing CD/LP (Jagjaguwar)
Every artist has to discover their voice. Gia Margaret didn't find herself until she lost hers. With a vocal injury that kept her from singing for years, she developed other musical languages, mastering the grammar of an intricate, homey form of ambient music pioneered by Ernest Hood and perfected by The Books. Now, her physical voice healed and her artistic voice honed, she comes full circle with Singing, her first vocal album since 2018's There's Always Glimmer. Led by soft piano lines that fall like breath on glass, the music on Singing evidences the same jeweler's sensitivity to detail that she developed in her silence. The album was partially recorded in London with Frou Frou's Guy Sigsworth, who helped Margaret unify the spree of ideas she had for "Good Friend," an album highlight that includes Gregorian chant by ILĀ and turntable scratches, among many other things. David Bazan and Amy Millan also make appearances, as do Kurt Vile and Sean Carey, while Margaret's longtime collaborator Doug Saltzman plays on and co-produces much of the record. [Orange vinyl pressing.]
Metric - Romanticize the Dive CD/LP (Metric Music)
Metric’s relentless pursuit of timeless songwriting and fiercely independent ethos have cemented their place as one of the most essential and ahead-of-the-curve bands of the last two decades. The trailblazing Toronto outfit was founded by songwriting and production partners Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw, along with bandmates Joshua Winstead and Joules Scott Key. Their 10th studio album Romanticize The Dive harkens back to the free spirit of the bygone indie sleaze era when they first made a name for themselves. In a tribute to lifelong friendship, the album also reunites the dream team behind their 2009 breakout album Fantasies at Electric Lady Studios in New York. All at once a heartfelt reflection on their history, a celebratory gift to those who have been along for the ride, and an outstretched hand to new fans, Romanticize The Dive is another testament to the band’s unwavering love for each other and their insatiable desire to push themselves as artists. [Available as a white vinyl pressing and an indie exclusive silver vinyl pressing.]
The Milk Carton Kids - Lost Cause Lover Fool CD/LP (Far Cry Records)
On their seventh studio album, Lost Cause Lover Fool, The Milk Carton Kids invite listeners to lean in close and hover in the small moments the album magnifies. With rootsy arrangements, Lost Cause Lover Fool expands on the duo's signature minimalist sound their fans love while also, somehow, making it even smaller. Lost Cause Lover Fool begins with the lonesome pluck and strum of the banjo on "Blue Water." Often employed either for lightning-speed or rhythm, here the banjo is handled carefully, with reticence, so that it feels more like light cast across a stretch of grass than a whole bluegrass instrument. [Indie exclusive green vinyl pressing.]
Miss Grit - Under My Umbrella CD/LP (Mute)
For their second full-length album, Under My Umbrella, Miss Grit has lifted the lid on their internal world, lasering in on the anxieties and heartbreak of the past two years, following their acclaimed debut Follow the Cyborg. On this album, Margaret Sohn - aka Miss Grit (they/she) - channels the noirish atmosphere of classic trip-hop bands, while adding a hefty dose of maximalism and a dream-pop sensibility. The title is a nod to the iconic Rihanna song and embraces Sohn "... letting people in more on this record and trying not to shy away from that. I'm leaving the cyborg behind, I'm letting it all out." Under My Umbrella not only presents Sohn's gift for complex production, but also the boldness of finding your voice, and ultimately is about coming to terms with yourself, your imperfections, and your complex interior world. [Clear vinyl pressing.]
Nuclear Messiah - Black Flame CD (Cleopatra)
Hands down the biggest release in the metal world this year, a mega-powered supergroup uniting 34 legendary musicians from across 5 decades of rock and metal, Nuclear Messiah! Helmed by widely revered six-string shredder Chris Poland (of Megadeth fame), Nuclear Messiah is a metal behemoth featuring contributions from Poland's former bandmates Marty Friedman, Dave Ellefson & Glen Drover plus Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater), Mick Box (Uriah Heep), Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow) and more!
OOIOO / Lightning Bolt - The Horizon Spirals / The Horizon Viral LP (Thrill Jockey)
OOIOO and Lightning Bolt are both bands whose music is wholly unique and whose creators' influence would be impossible to overstate. This album features 2 Epic OOIOO songs and 5 blistering Lightning Bolt Songs! YoshimiO, OOIOO's founder and bandleader, has been a guiding force in uncompromising art across the continuum of rock and improvised music for four decades, from her work in UFO or Die to Boredoms to SAICOBAB and beyond. OOIOO serves as a core outlet for melding freeform experimentalism with hypnotic rock pulses, defying boundaries with her acrobatic voice, electronics, trumpet and gamelan. Lightning Bolt's Brian Chippendale and Brian Gibson have remained unparalleled in their ability to transmute frenetic whirls of percussion, gargantuan fuzz and dizzying melody into monolithic vistas. The Horizon Spirals / The Horizon Viral is a split that captures the parallels in ethos between these two ensembles, their sense of gleeful abandon and freight train momentum, in inspiring detail. [Indie exclusive silver vinyl pressing.]
Ozuna & Beéle - Stendhal CD/2xLP (Sony Latin)
Collaborative album from the Puerto Rican singer and Colombian singer. Includes the hits "Enemigos", Pikito", "Te Culie" and many others.
Portrayal of Guilt - ...Beginning of the End CD/LP/cassette (Run for Cover)
Over the last decade, Portrayal of Guilt have solidified themselves as a pillar in the extreme underground music scene. With releases like 2023's orchestral nightmare Devil Music, and year-round world touring with the likes of Deafheaven, Uniform and Pg. 99, POG have unquestionably carved their own path. Defying accurate categorization since formation, the three piece blends elements of black, death and nu metal with crust, screamo, powerviolence and hardcore, with their latest album further blurring genre lines. The band takes the unhinged discordance to the next level on album standouts "Ecstasy" and "Human Terror", with KoRn-like guitar dissonance, punishing death metal lows, and haunting spoken passages confidently riding the line between Life is Peachy and Scum.
Quiet Light - Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 1+2 2xLP (True Panther)
Texas-based singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Quiet Light makes songs that recall "dream sequences." Her label debut Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2 is a self-produced mixtape/snapshot of twilight hours in the Texas summer heat. A classically trained prom queen turned medical school student who draws as much inspiration from Shania Twain & Imogen Heap as Angelo Badalamenti & Harold Budd, she's also performed with Cameron Winter, Erika de Casier, Nilufer Yanya, & Chanel Beads. This release combines both volumes of Blue Angel Sparkling Silver. [Light blue swirl & light turquoise swirl color vinyl pressing.]
Resavoir - Themes for Dreams LP (L'univers)
Themes For Dreams marks another left turn for Chicago-based musician, composer, and producer Will Miller, finding him at his most meditative, patient, and intentional. Across 13 gorgeous and strikingly cohesive tracks, the album eschews drums in favor of immersive melodies that float, dissipate, and linger. It's an album meant for rest, with arrangements so welcomely enveloping they feel like a warm blanket. While it's Miller's sparsest record yet, it still keeps his wildly collaborative ethos, enlisting guests like Marta Sofia Honer, Jeremiah Chiu, Macie Stewart, Matt Gold, William Corduroy, Molly Rife, and others.
Draco Rosa - Olas de Luz 2xLP (Sony Latin)
The highly anticipated new album, recorded and written across diverse locations such as La Costa Brava/España, Madrid, Los Angeles, New York, San Juan/ Puerto Rico. The album blends Draco's most distinguished rock & roll energy with influences from world music and flamenco woven together with deeply personal narratives exploring themes of life: love, peace, appreciation, focus, self-reflection and human connection. Limited edition pressed on teal vinyl with deluxe packaging.
Ringo Starr - Long Long Road CD/LP (Ringo Starr)
Long Long Road, the brand-new album from Ringo Starr, was co-written and produced by T Bone Burnett with Daniel Tashian and Bruce Sugar. The 10-song album includes collaborations with Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow and St. Vincent and is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2025’s chart-topping Look Up. With solid roots in country, Long Long Road layers an easy Americana vibe alongside Ringo’s classic rock roots with songs about life's many journeys and finding love along the way.
Terror - Still Suffer CD/LP/cassette (Flatspot Records)
Originating from Los Angeles, California, during a time when hardcore needed a band to smash things back to center as the genre found itself falling off track, Terror rushed in, immediately made their mark and never let go. For their latest album, working with producer (and former guitarist) Todd Jones, the band created ten fast, aggressive, in-your-face tracks that embrace the themes that made Terror so influential in the first place. Songs about self empowerment, survival and an unrelenting will to face challenges head on with the values and support found within these walls. [Blue vinyl pressing.]
Meghan Trainor - Toy with Me CD/LP (Epic)
The pop singer's seventh album. In this new era, Meghan dances between vulnerability and empowerment, encouraging fans to embrace themselves despite any challenges they may be facing. All the while, Meghan delivers undeniably infectious pop production and witty songwriting with more precision than ever.
Urq - This Dismal Village LP (Exploding in Sound)
Venturing into "a limbo world between medieval tropes and modern-day decay", New Orleans musician Urq (half of art punk duo Spllit) returns with a new solo offering. Recorded over a single, intense month, This Dismal Village is a homespun document that sits somewhere between jittery punk, dreary psychedelia, and hooky bedroom pop. Recorded to 4-track, the record embraces limitation as a creative engine, resulting in a sound that is raw, unsettled, and deeply atmospheric.
Dale Watson - Unwanted LP (Forty Below)
Dale Watson is a living legend of American roots music. With Texas-sized defiance and drive, he's spent four decades flying the flag for his own brand of honky-tonk, outlaw country, western swing, and rockabilly. That signature sound has a name - "Ameripolitan" - and its originator is Watson himself: a singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, actor, cultural architect, and rule-breaking traditionalist for the modern world, championing the traditions that fly in the face of the homogenous mainstream. With Unwanted, he fires another double-barreled shotgun blast of country twang and honky-tonk bang fueled by the heartaches, hard-won lessons, and high-speed thrills of a life largely logged on the road. [Red vinyl pressing.]
White Denim - 13 LP (Bella Union)
13, the thirteenth album of White Denim's career, is an incandescent, groove-heavy alchemy of rock, funk, dub, soul and down-dirty blues, imbued with the same questing spirit that's been the band's trademark since first starting in Austin, Texas, some 20 years ago. Petralli's wide-ranging musical appetites have become more voracious over time. The sounds and textures of '13' are informed by everyone from Scritti Politti to The Gap Band, Terry Reid to King Tubby, Caetano Veloso to John Cale, Stevie Wonder to '80s-era Steve Winwood. Such diversity is reflected in multi-faceted gems like "(God Created) Lock And Key", "Only A Fool" and "That's Rap".
White Fence - Orange LP (Drag City)
Orange is an unstill life, a bowlful of new White Fence concepts for guitar band, grown larger through thoughts, feelings/songs. Rock 'n balladry play with genre in uncrowded space. Orange is killer pop thru clean lines of power, outlined with an emphatic/unalterable (minimalist) frame. Dark magik at its most bright! A trance-like chronology of consciousness/SONGS captained by producer Ty Segall in opalescent diamond tightness and ice fidelity.
Cory Wong - Lost in the Wonder LP (Diggers Factory)
Guitarist Cory Wong's latest album spotlights his remarkable gifts as a producer, writer, arranger, band leader, and master of modern pop craftsmanship, while of course never losing sight of his trademark guitar virtuosity. Lost in the Wonder further affirms Wong's enduring love of musical collaboration, boasting a truly eclectic range of guest artists that includes Taylor Hanson, Devon Gilfillian, Stephen Day, Cody Fry, Yam Haus, Louis Cato, Ellis, Elysia Biro, Benny Sings, Theo Katzman, and Magic City Hippies. [Indie exclusive clear vinyl pressing.]
Mitchum Yacoub - A Way In LP (All-Town Sound)
Although it is difficult to classify, A Way In lends itself to the worlds of Afrobeat, cumbia, salsa, and soul - a stirring of potent rhythms and enigmatic melodies that make Mitchum Yacoub's sophomore album stand tall in the world of groove music. Syncopated dance tracks, definitive horns, and steady backbeats carry tales of anguish, love, and uprising. It is a record that reveals the human spirit: a confluence of thoughtful introspection and earth-shaking ritmo.

Various Artists - Bulayo LP (Mississippi Records)
Acoustic guitar masters from East and Central Africa, an expansion of Mississippi's beloved African Guitar Box project. In 1979 and 1980, a young British-Kenyan musician named John Low hit the road to learn finger-style guitar from his heroes. He traveled across Kenya, Tanzania, Congo, and Zambia, visiting giants like Jean-Bosco Mwenda, Losta Abelo, and Emmanuel Mulemena, whose records sold hundreds of thousands of copies across the continent in the 1950s and 60s. He also documented brilliant but previously under-recorded artists like Tanzania's Francis Kitime and Kenya's Mtonga Wanganangu. John recorded in homes, village squares, and watering holes. The sessions are intimate and casual, the artists at ease. It's a transportive and profound listening experience - children laughing, glasses clinking, the thump of the Marantz cassette deck, and John's single mic moving through space, sometimes documenting the vocals, sometimes zeroing in on the right hand against the strings. Five decades later, these practice tapes provide a rare glimpse into how fingerstyle guitar was actually played for family and friends, outside the tense confines of commercial studios.
Terry Callier - At the Earl of Old Town 2xLP (Time Traveler)
For the first time ever, experience Terry Callier as few ever did: live, raw, and on the brink of greatness. Captured in 1967 - predating the release of his cult-classic debut The New Folk Sound of Terry Callier - this intimate, previously unreleased live performance reveals a young artist already operating in his own universe. These 1967 live tapes-unearthed from a private archive were recorded by Joe Segal in Chicago at The Earl of Old Town Club in 1967. Showcasing Callier's distinctive blend of folk, soul, and jazz in its purest form. His intricate guitar work, luminous voice, and spiritual depth are presented in stunning clarity, giving both longtime fans and new listeners an unfiltered glimpse into a foundational moment in American music history.

John Coltrane - Africa/Brass LP (Impulse!)
Released in 1961, Africa/Brass was John Coltrane's first album for Impulse! Records and a turning point in his recorded output. Recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's studio and produced by Creed Taylor, the project expanded Coltrane's working quartet into a large ensemble, pairing his searching tenor and soprano saxophone with dense, brass-heavy orchestrations by Cal Massey. Arrangements by Eric Dolphy and McCoy Tyner helped shape the album's distinctive sound, weaving tuba, euphonium, French horns, and more into a powerful backdrop for Coltrane's improvisations. With key contributions from trumpeters Booker Little and Freddie Hubbard, bassist Reggie Workman, drummer Elvin Jones, and others, Africa/Brass reframed the idea of a "big band." One of the most important early Impulse! Releases, Africa/Brass announced Coltrane's arrival on the "house that Trane built" with radical clarity. Verve Acoustic Sounds Series is remastered from the original analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl.
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry 12" (Elektra)
Initially released as a standalone single in the summer of 1979, "Boys Don't Cry" became the title track of the US edition of the band's debut album, Three Imaginary Boys. The song went on to become one of the band's signature tracks and achieved international success in 1986, when Robert Smith re-recorded the vocal and remixed the backing track. Now, "Boys Don't Cry" (86 Mix) is available on vinyl for the first time in 40 years. "Boys Don't Cry" (86 Mix), and the 12" mix, have been remastered by Matt Colton. Backed with Plastic Passion, Pillbox Tales, and Do the Hansa.
Descendents - Enjoy! LP/CD/cassette (Org Music)
Originally released in 1986, Enjoy! Finds Descendents leaning fully into their instincts. While the band had already helped define what would become pop punk, Enjoy! doubled down on short, fast, melody-driven songs, pairing juvenile humor with sharpened songwriting and unmistakable urgency. Tracks like "Hürtin' Crüe" and "Get the Time" channel irreverence through speed, melody, and tension, while subtle new wave and pop influences, including a punk take on Wendy by The Beach Boys, broaden the band's sound without dulling its edge.
