Here's your weekly rundown of what's hitting the new release racks at Grimey's
New Releases
After - EP1 + EP2 (Mom+Pop)
After is the Y2K tinged trip hop pop project of Graham Epstein and Justine Dorsey, who met on Hinge in Los Angeles and decided they would make a better band than a couple. Born on the same day, August 23 1995, the duo channels influences from Michelle Branch to Portishead, Fountains of Wayne to Enigma, crafting music that feels both nostalgic and new. As Rolling Stone wrote, “After… feels like a memory you can’t quite place.”
Altın Gün - Garip CD/LP (ATO)
Since bursting onto the scene in 2018 with their debut album, On, Amsterdam-based Altın Gün have been at the vanguard of the 21st century revival of Turkish-influenced psychedelic grooves. Now, the Grammy-nominated quintet return with their sixth studio album Garip - their most ambitious and diverse release to date, and a heartfelt tribute to Neşet Ertaş - a revered and much-loved Turkish singer, lyricist and bağlama player who recorded more than 30 albums and wrote hundreds of songs. [Indie exclusive Sunburst Splash vinyl pressing]
Apparat - Hum of Maybe CD/LP (Mute)
Six years after his Grammy-nominated LP5, Sascha Ring - aka Apparat - takes a bold dive into the complexities of life with his sixth studio album. A Hum Of Maybe is detailed, finely crafted, and wonderfully unpredictable. At its core, the record is about love - for himself, his wife, and his daughter - and holding onto it, protecting it, and constantly recalibrating as it is in a constant state of flux. Ring elegantly combines the perspectives of an electronic producer and a classical composer, working closely with long-time collaborators Philipp Johann Thimm (cello, piano, guitar) - who also co-wrote and co-produced the record - Christoph "Mäckie" Hamann (violin, keyboard, bass), Jörg Wähner (drums), and Christian Kohlhaas (trombone). The album also features Armenian-American artist KÁRYYN on 'Tilth', and Berlin-and Rome-based musician Jan- Philipp Lorenz (aka Bi Disc) on 'Pieces, Falling'. [Indie exclusive turquoise vinyl pressing.]

[White vinyl pressing.]
Hilary Duff - luck... or something CD/LP (Atlantic)
Multiplatinum global icon Hilary Duff returns to the pop world with her sixth studio album, luck... or something, her boldest and most self-assured project yet. Co-written by Duff and her husband and GRAMMY®-winning songwriter/producer Matthew Koma, the album features 11 tracks, including the critically acclaimed single "Mature." [Pink vinyl pressing.]
Tim Easton - Firehorse LP (Campfire Propaganda)
Firehorse is the 14th studio album from acclaimed troubadour Tim Easton. A sturdy entry in the lifelong catalog of a songwriter committed to carving his own path - independent, driven, and devoted to craft. Easton spent seven years busking across Europe hitchhiking, learning, and living the true vagabond life. Those experiences echo throughout Firehorse, an album that moves freely between country-blues, folk, pop, and classic rock while maintaining the sharp songwriting voice of a storyteller more than two decades into his craft.
Exhumed - Red Asphalt CD/LP (Relapse)
The latest wrong turn from the driving force of Gore Metal, Exhumed, Red Asphalt crashes the band's hook-laden, high-speed deathgrind into whiplash-inducing grooves and dangerous musical curves. Red Asphalt is a love letter to the road - horrific accidents, vehicular homicide, defective cars, gore-filled instructional videos, zombified biker gangs, and more. [Blue with yellow splatter vinyl pressing.]
Tigran Hamasyan - Manifeste 2xLP (Naive)
Armenian piano virtuoso Tigran Hamasyan returns with Manifeste, a powerful fusion of jazz, progressive rock, and Armenian folk. Recorded across five countries, the album blends rhythmic complexity, cinematic depth, and spiritual intensity, featuring longtime collaborators and the Yerevan State Chamber Choir. Manifeste is a bold declaration where the human, digital, and sacred unite in sound. Entirely composed and produced by Hamasyan, Manifeste fuses his signature rhythmic complexity and spiritual depth with a more cinematic soundscape, where Armenian folk roots, progressive rock intensity, and choral mysticism intertwine.
Eric Hilton - A Sky So Close CD (Montserrat House)
A Sky So Close delivers classic trip-hop sounds over 12 tracks of pure sensory indulgence. Hilton's luxurious production skills are on full display here, as well as the deep grooves that he's been delivering since the early days of Thievery Corporation, the legendary downtempo combo he co-founded in the mid-90's. But on A Sky So Close, there is a hedonic weightlessness to this music that verges on the tantric, with no climactic finish to bring the listener back down to earth. Hilton keeps you floating in an extended, delicious haze.
Midori Hirano - OTONOMA LP (Thrill Jockey)
The artistry of Midori Hirano lives in the resonance between sonic and visual worlds. Over her distinguished career the Berlin-based, Kyoto-born composer, pianist, and synthesist has crafted a distinctive voice straddling the spheres of classical music and harmonies with abstraction and invention. In addition to works under her own name, Hirano has released dynamic experiments under her MimiCof moniker as well as composed for film, television, art exhibitions and architectural expos. Hirano is acclaimed for crafting emotive works that stimulate all the senses with impressionism, or painting with sound. OTONOMA is the culmination of her work synthesizing these elements and highlights her acumen as a practiced and intuitive artist. The album infuses Hirano’s more classical sense of harmony on the piano with the endless textural possibilities of synthesizers. [Opaque pink vinyl pressing.]
Julia Hülsmann Octet - While I Was Away CD (ECM)
This ensemble brings together the intimacy of a classical trio (violin, cello, piano), the rhythmic grounding of a jazz piano trio, and three distinctive vocalists, resulting in a fluid and highly expressive group sound. The album moves freely between song, chamber music, and improvisation, setting Hülsmann's original compositions alongside a personal interpretation of Ani DiFranco's "Up Up..." and a Brazilian song by Zélia Fonseca. Lyrics by poets such as Emily Dickinson, Margaret Atwood, and E.E. Cummings add literary depth, while shifting textures evoke Brazilian dance, musical theatre, and moments of dense collective improvisation. A luminous and fearless ensemble statement, reaffirming Hülsmann's place as one of contemporary jazz's most thoughtful composers.
Alexandra Kay - Second Wind LP (BMG)
Alexandra Kay, who starred in the Netflix series Westside, holds the rare and extraordinary ability to connect with audiences by just being her authentic true self via heartfelt melodies. Her sophomore album cements her as a force to be reckoned with. The album features the singles, "Cupid's a Cowgirl," "The Last," "Feminine Energy," "Straight from the Heart," and "What He Does." [Watermelon Cream color vinyl pressing.]
Leigh-Anne - My Ego Told Me to LP (Madeinthe90s)
Leigh-Anne Pinnock is ready to reintroduce herself. After conquering the pop world with one of the biggest groups on the planet (Little Mix) and stepping out as a solo artist, she has reached a new clarity: no more compromises, no more limits. With her debut album, Leigh-Anne isn't reinventing herself, she's restoring the woman she always was. Bold, unapologetic and free, this album is the purest expression of her artistry to date and musically reflects every facet of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, unfiltered, independent and finally on her own terms. "Everything that has been in my heart, everything I've wanted to do, I'm doing now. It feels like freedom. It feels right."
The Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis - Deface the Currency CD/LP (Impulse)
The second collaboration between The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis. This new album preserves the tightness and variety of their critically-acclaimed self-titled debut album, but reveals new levels of confidence and risk over seven tracks. A statement of vigor, sensitivity and spontaneity, Deface the Currency is a result of the band playing 150 shows together in one year. More than any earlier statement by the band, Deface the Currency seamlessly melds the sounds that make up its collective DNA, from punk rock to free jazz and funk, balancing compositional precision with palpable improvisational fire.
Björn Meyer - Convergence CD (ECM)
With Convergence, his second solo album, Swedish-born bassist Bjorn Meyer further develops music on the blueprint established with his critically praised recording Provenance (2017), making use of the technical potential of the bass guitar to establish striking sonorities and rich-grained textures while also being acutely aware of the acoustic space in which his sounds emerge and bloom. This time around, the scene has shifted to Munich's Bavaria Musikstudios, a space long associated with music for film, and Meyer's atmospheric explorations conjure images in the mind. In parallel with his technical innovations, he has also grown as a melodist, and much of Convergence has a yearning, songful quality.
Megan Moroney - Cloud 9 CD/2xLP (Columbia)
Cloud 9 is the third studio album from multi-platinum phenomenon Megan Moroney. Building on the massive momentum of 2024’s era-defining Am I Okay, the country superstar’s latest LP features her Billboard Hot 100 smash “6 Months Later” and hit ballad “Beautiful Things.” Vinyl edition includes 24x36” poster. MX Lonely - All Monsters LP (Winspear)
In MX Lonely's world, monsters are multifaceted things. They're the creatures we used to imagine lurking in the shadows as a child; the all-too-real evildoers who abuse their power or line their pockets with suffering; the vices and flaws that we grapple with throughout our lives, and what we can become while under their grip. On their debut full-length album All Monsters, the Brooklyn-based band search dark corners, force open doors and exhume these monsters, via a heavy, murky alt-rock sound that's equally streaked with beauty. As their first entirely self-recorded release, All Monsters sees the band capturing a live, immediate, analogue sound which embodies the feeling of their live show, while also creating a more longform and nuanced experience than they have before. [Pink color vinyl pressing.]
The Neighbourhood - (((((Ultrasound))))+ 2xLP (Warner)
UltraSOUND+ by The Neighbourhood includes 5 new songs including the focus track "Good Grief." The Neighbourhood spent 5 years underwater before coming back with UltraSOUND, and now with UltraSOUND+, The Neighbourhood has surfaced at the beach. Each deluxe vinyl cover features a unique "house logo" speaker grill and title design, highlighting a different underwater stowaway from their time beneath the waves. [Purple vinyl pressing.]
New Found Glory - Listen Up! CD/LP (Pure Noise)
It's been decades since New Found Glory were etched onto pop-punk's Mount Rushmore, but as the Coral Springs, Florida, quartet approach their 30th anniversary, they've proven with their 11th studio album Listen Up! - and first for Pure Noise Records - that they still have plenty to say. Shaped by guitarist Chad Gilbert's battle with metastatic cancer and the enduring bond with bandmates Jordan Pundik, Ian Grushka, and Cyrus Bolooki, the record captures resilience and gratitude in tightly wound riffs and sing-along hooks reminiscent of their early 2000s classics. Written face-to-face in Gilbert's Nashville home with a riff-first mentality, the album recalls Sticks and Stones and Catalyst while pushing forward with songs like first single "100%," road-tested alongside The Offspring and Jimmy Eat World. Produced by Steve Evetts with contributions from Dan O'Connor of Four Year Strong. [Tropical Sunset color vinyl pressing.]
Peaches - No Lube So Rude CD/LP (Kill Rock Stars)
A brash, unapologetic blend of electronic, dance, punk, industrial, and pop music, No Lube So Rude exists at the intersection of the personal and the political, where the body serves not only as a sexual and spiritual vessel, but also as the front line in a battle for basic human rights. Peaches’ lyrics are bawdy and explicit here, laced with biting sarcasm and clever wordplay, but they’re also surprisingly vulnerable, offering up a candid look in the mirror from a post-menopausal queer icon reckoning with a society that’s come to expect silence, if not outright erasure. The result is a deliberately provocative exploration of identity, sexuality, and bodily autonomy from a trailblazer, a singular work of emotional and sonic alchemy that balances the poetic and the profane in equal measure as it transforms all the friction and frustration of modern life into joy and transcendence. [Electric blue vinyl pressing.]
Phew & Danielle de Picciotto - Paper Masks CD/LP (Mute)
A unique collaboration between two of the most inquisitive and important artists in modern avant-garde electronic music. Paper Masks marks a striking new collaboration between visionary Mute labelmates Phew and Danielle de Picciotto. Developed quietly over nearly five years, what began as an experiment between friends gradually evolved into a full-length album. Phew composed and arranged all the music, weaving in de Picciotto's voice and freely reshaping it to create something entirely new. Performed in both German and English, the result is an exploratory work that balances electronic minimalism with emotional immediacy. [Pink vinyl pressing.]
Craig Taborn - Dream Archives CD (ECM)
The trio-debut of pianist, composer and 2025 MacArthur Fellow, Craig Taborn with Tomeka Reid and Ches Smith has been eagerly awaited. Their approach to Dream Archives is cerebral, yet as the title suggests, a wide musical spectrum is covered as multitudes of idioms seem to be pulled from history and reconfigured to form a previously unheard sound world full of reveries. Dancing grooves and powerful lyrical accounts also arise in otherwise densely orchestrated trio interchanges. Tomeka on cello juggles with melodic lead on the one hand and a pizzicato bass bedrock on the other, coalescing - with tension - with Ches Smith's versatile sound array and Craig's comprehensive grasp of the keyboard.
Tiwayo - Up For Soul / Sunshine Lady 7" (Record Kicks)
Paris-born soul singer and songwriter Tiwayo, nicknamed “The Young Old” for his timeless, lived-in voice, releases a limited edition 45 featuring two standout tracks from his forthcoming album Outsider, produced by Grammy Award winner Adrian Quesada of the Black Pumas. The 7-inch single pairs the up-tempo soul stomper “Up For Soul” on the A-side with the radiant and heartwarming “Sunshine Lady” on the B-side. Pressed in a limited run of 500 copies worldwide.

Various Artists - Aman Aman: Greek-Anatolian Laments LP (Mississippi)
Intensely expressive free-verse vocal laments over sliding violins, hammered santouri, guitar, and oud - the hybrid sounds of the Mediterranean in the early 20th century. "Aman Aman" cry the singers on these recordings, their voices preserved on 78rpm discs cut between 1911-1935. The phrase roughly translates to "mercy," a call of despair, but also one of joy and admiration. Some of these artists are legends, others lost to time. Nearly half are female vocalists, a big part of the Cafe Aman tradition but not as well represented on contemporary releases. All were affected by conflicts leading up to the Asia Minor Catastrophe of 1923, and the forced migrations between Greece and Turkey before and since. Their work reflects these journeys - devastating poems about losing love and losing home, backed by some of the best musicians of the era.
Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls 2xLP (Atlantic)
In 2001, Tori Amos released a unique collection of cover versions, Strange Little Girls, on which she tackled 12 songs written by men and interpreted them from her own unique persecutive. This included unusual takes of songs originally recorded by a wide variety of artists, including Eminem, Slayer and The Stranglers. The original 12 track album has now been bolstered with four extra bonus tracks not on the original release: Alice Cooper's Only Women Bleed, David Bowie's After All, plus two unreleased songs, Bruce Springsteen's Growin' Up and Elvis Costello's Hoover Factory. Available in a variety of cover variants.
Christopher Bear - Roofman O.S.T. LP (Varese Sarabande)
Roofman is a new biographical crime-comedy film directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines), starring Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst, and Peter Dinklage. Based on an unbelievable true story, Roofman follows Jeffrey Manchester (Tatum), an Army veteran and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald's restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname: Roofman. The film's score was composed by Grizzly Bear multi-instrumentalist Christopher Bear, with contributions from The War on Drugs' Jon Natchez.
Black Marble - It's Immaterial LP (Ghostly Int'l)
Released in 2016, It's Immaterial found Black Marble refining its coldwave and synth-pop foundations into a warmer, more melodic expression of isolation, longing, and quiet resilience. Guided by Chris Stewart's unmistakable baritone and a palette of analog synths, pulsing basslines, and minimalist rhythms, the album feels simultaneously nostalgic and forward-leaning. Its songs drift between shadowy introspection and subtle hope, creating a cinematic atmosphere that's both intimate and hypnotic. With It's Immaterial, Black Marble deepened its signature sound, offering a collection that resonates like a faded memory-soft, hazy, and endlessly replayable. [Black and white marble vinyl pressing.]
