Hitting The Racks

Here's your weekly rundown of what's hitting the new release racks at Grimey's

New Releases

Afternoon Bike Ride - Running with Scissors LP (Friends of Friends)

Afternoon Bike Ride is an eclectic indie trio based in Montreal composed of Lia Kurihara, Éloi Le Blanc-Ringuette and David Tanton. They’ve released a series of projects weaving field recordings and ambient elements into their folk- and pop-based songwriting. Their third record is a poignant, genre-blurring exploration of life’s most tender and tumultuous moments. Raw, emotional acoustic elements are fused with subtle electronic layers and indie rock grunge, creating a textured blend that feels as vast and intimate as the album’s themes. It’s an immersive record that shifts perspectives, from the micro to the macro, zooming out to explore the universe and zooming in on the personal experiences that define their lives.

The Antlers - Blight CD/2xLP (Transgressive)

On their first new studio album in over four years, Blight asks many questions without offering easy answers, as The Antlers' founder and primary songwriter Peter Silberman reckons with our passively destructive tendencies - absent-minded pollution, unwitting wastefulness, and the inadvertent devastation of the natural world. But despite its heavy themes, Blight is far from a punishing listen. With it's adventurous arrangements and persistent momentum, it plays more like an iridescent odyssey. Deluxe 2 LP set includes bonus disc 'Uncover New Colors Singles '22-'23', containing five singles released here for the first time physically. [Ocean blue and meadow green vinyl pressing.]

Richard Ashcroft - Lovin' You CD/LP (RPA/Richard Ashcroft)

As the former Verve frontman embarks upon the biggest stadium tour of 2025 as special guest to Oasis, Richard Ashcroft presents his seventh album, 'Lovin' You,' the follow-up to 2021's 'Acoustic Hymns, Vol. 1.' and his first all-new album since 2018's 'Natural Rebel.' [Limited edition blue vinyl pressing.]

Mulatu Astatke - Mulatu Plays Mulatu CD/LP (Strut)

Mulatu Astatke's first major studio album in over a decade, reinventing his classic compositions in his pioneered Ethio-jazz style. Blending Western jazz with traditional Ethiopian instruments (krar, masenqo, washint, kebero, begena), these new perspectives on his classic songs reflect Mulatu's long-term vision for Ethio-jazz. Recorded in London and Addis Ababa, the album features Mulatu's UK ensemble, Addis-based cultural musicians, and contemporary artists Carlos Niño and Kibrom Birhane, under producer Dexter Story. Mulatu presents the album as both a tribute to Ethiopian musical pioneers and a fresh reinterpretation of Ethio-jazz, maintaining its relevance while honouring its roots.

The Autumn Defense - Here and Nowhere LP (Yep Roc)

After a ten-year break from the studio, the group formed by core duo John Stirratt and Pat Sansone pick up right where they left off on their sixth album. Infusing the band's breezy, harmony-drenched take on Laurel Canyon with lush orchestration and psychedelic flourishes, the collection is dreamy and impressionistic, full of warm, inviting tunes as beautiful as they are bittersweet. Like much of the group's catalog, it's an album full of mystery and wonder, a rich, open-hearted work that nods to everything from Nick Drake and John Martyn to Carole King and David Crosby as it contemplates the passage of time, reckoning with what we lose, what we gain, and who we become along the way.

Tim Bernardes - Prudencia / Praga 7" (Psychic Hotline)

A new 7" single of folk infused sambas from Tim Bernardes, the Latin Grammy nominated singer, songwriter, musician, composer, and producer, a contemporary artist with deep roots in Brazil's verdant musical heritage.

Bia - Bianca CD (Epic)

The world knows BIA as bold, razor-sharp, and unapologetically powerful, but with her self-titled debut album BIANCA, we’re invited deeper as she pulls back the curtain to reveal the duality within the woman behind the persona. One moment BIA is unbothered and bulletproof, the next BIANCA whispers secrets into silence, creating an emotional arc for listeners that feels immersive and emotionally authentic. BIA is the myth, the armor, the brand, while BIANCA is the woman, the story, the soul. And now, for the first time, she’s not hiding the persona, she’s stepping into the light with it. Driven by a soundtrack where metallic 808s answer airy Rhodes chords, BIANCA is not a departure from BIA — it’s the clearest version of her yet.

Priscilla Block - Things You Didn't See CD/LP (Indent Records)

Sophomore album from the Raleigh-born, Nashville-based country singer-songwriter, with production from Jesse Frasure, David Garcia and Dave Cohen. [Light gold vinyl pressing.]

Madison Cunningham - Ace CD/LP (Verve Forecast)

The stunning new album from Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham is a record about love, every part of it: falling out of love, having your heart broken, then falling in love again. Ace, on which Cunningham serves as co-producer, sees the acclaimed guitarist bring the piano into the foreground, creating intimate songs that are as playful as they are reflective.

CxM (S.Coups x Mingyu of Seventeen) - Hype Vibes CD (Pledis Entertainment)

New subunit from global K-Pop group Seventeen has arrived - CxM (S. Coups x Mingyu) release their 1st Mini Album titled 'HYPE VIBES.' [Compact Version]

Madi Diaz - Fatal Optimist CD/LP (Anti)

4 x GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Madi Diaz is known for searing explorations of romance, and her new album is her most powerful statement yet. Raw and stripped down, Fatal Optimist is Madi at her most intimate and most bold. She and producer Gabe Wax (Soccer Mommy, Zach Bryan) set out to strip these songs back, relying on her performance and her writing. The result is a classic and timeless indie-folk album. [Indie exclusive opaque turquoise vinyl pressing. While supplies last, all CD and vinyl copies are signed by Madi!]

Dropkick Murphys - For the People 2xLP (Play It Again Sam)

On Dropkick Murphys' 13th studio album, the stories run deep, the memories push hard, and the joy remains infectious. And even when the moods are sad and pensive, it's hard not to feel personally invested in the band's emotional spectrum. For The People shows courage and confidence, speaking up against the injustices happening in the United States, doing so with the strength and power that harkens back to Dropkick Murphys' earliest punk rock roots. Whether it's politics, family, friends or simply "life," Dropkick Murphys continue to write music that regular people can identify with. The album was produced and mixed by longtime Dropkick Murphys collaborator Ted Hutt and includes guest features form Mary Wallopers, The Scratch, Bill Bragg, and original band member Al Barr. [Indie exclusive jade green vinyl pressing.]

Emma Louise & Flume - Dumb LP (Flume)

A 10-track collaborative album featuring Grammy-winning producer Flume's signature, boundary-pushing production paired with platinum-certified, ARIA nominee Emma Louise's haunting vocals and intimate lyricism. [Indie exclusive splatter effect vinyl.]

Robert Finley - Hallelujah! Don't Let the Devil Fool Ya CD/LP (Easy Eye Sound)

Robert Finley returns with a soul-stirring fourth album that blends deep blues, Southern grit, and spiritual fire. Backed by his daughter, Christy Johnson, and produced by Dan Auerbach, Finley delivers a powerful testament to faith, family, and the music that made him. Features "Helping Hand," "Holy Ghost Party" and "I Wanna Thank You."

Flock of Dimes - The Life You Save CD/2xLP

The third album from multi-instrumentalist and producer Jenn Wasner. Across the last few decades - whether it be as Flock of Dimes, as half of beloved duo Wye Oak, or in one of her many collaborations with Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso, and a sprawling list of other musical juggernauts - Jenn Wasner's extensive catalog displays her gift for balancing authenticity and directness with an unmistakable left-of-center sensibility. Her last solo album, the critically-lauded Head of Roses, took on heartbreak from a dualistic perspective, following a winding thread of intuition into the unknown and into healing. Her new album, The Life You Save, takes that a step further; put simply, it's the most honest, intimate and personally revealing record of Wasner's career. As heart-wrenching as they are hopeful, its twelve tracks plumb the depths of addiction and codependency, inherited and experienced trauma, and the process of finding peace in the face of others' suffering. The Life You Save is resonant, unflinchingly exposed - like a missive from the eye of a storm. But while it somehow manages to feel both viscerally raw and vulnerable, above it floats a sense of quiet peace, a sheen of hindsight, or perhaps of acceptance. ['Citrus' colored vinyl pressing.]

Frayle - Heretics & Lullabies CD/LP (Napalm)

The third album from the fast-rising doom metal outfit in the scene. Named a band to watch by Revolver Magazine and Knotfest, Frayle infuse their sound with ethereal elements in their ghostly trademark sonic profile. Heretics & Lullabies is a must-listen for any fan of doom, post-metal or atmosphere-heavy alternative, but also a crushing journey for any heavy music fan.

Friendship Commanders - Bear CD/LP (Magnetic Eye)

Nashville-based band Friendship Commanders draw from sludge, doom, heavy metal, and grunge with roots in punk and hardcore. Their latest album Bear was written around the realization that singer, songwriter, and guitarist Buick Audra had essentially been kicked out of womanhood. This album is a documentation of her awareness also while cataloguing other areas of human connection: art, outsider culture, and dark rock venues, "all places where empathy and creativity grow wild. Audra and drummer and bass player Jerry Roe arranged the fourth Friendship Commanders album to have two distinct sides, musically: heavy and light, salt and sugar, fire and air, lost and found.

Haai - Humanise 2xLP (Mute)

Haai returns with her bold and brilliant second album, HUMANiSE, exploring the sweet spot between machine-led dystopia and emotion-filled utopia. In all of her work, Teneil Throssell has always sought to conquer new frontiers in electronic music, and on the new album, she's drilling deeper into the grid. Voices both real and digitised play a huge part on HUMANiSE, alongside ideas of community and a sense of belonging. She has returned to work with friends including Jon Hopkins, Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, singer Obi Franky, rapper KAM-BU, artist Kaiden Ford, and poet James Massiah, as well as two choirs: Trans Voices with choir leader ILĀ and a gospel choir led by Wendi Rose. Having spent years behind the decks, Haai also brings her own voice to the forefront in a powerful shift toward vulnerability and self-expression. Her vocals, stunningly delicate, give a newfound dimension to her kinetic productions. From the euphoric opener 'Satellite', to BBC Radio 6 Music A-listed track 'Can't Stand To Lose', and genre-smashing cuts like 'Shapeshift', the album is filled with exhilarating sonic twists and deeply personal lyrics.

Jay Som - Belong CD/LP/cassette (Polyvinyl)

After breaking into the spotlight with the critically acclaimed Everybody Works (2017) and its follow-up, Anak Ko (2019), Jay Som mastermind Melina Duterte became one of the most in-demand musicians in the industry - whether collaborating with artists such as Troye Sivan or working on grammy-award-winning albums like boygenius' the record, as well as performing in the boygenius touring band with shows across the globe + a performance on SNL. Her first album in 6 years under the Jay Som moniker showcases her ever-expansive musicianship and wide-ranging influences. Recorded at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia and mixed by Duterte and Kyle Pulley (Dr. Dog, Alex G), Belong is chock-full of everything you'd expect from such an influential and pioneering fixture in music. Tracks like "Float" (featuring Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins) showcase Duterte's knack for melody while other standouts like "Past Lives" (featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams) tastefully build towards an anthemic resolve, with Duterte and Williams' interchanging vocals on full display. Belong is a turning point for Jay Som - a career-defining statement that finds Duterte rightfully stepping into the spotlight.

Gabriel Kahane - Heirloom CD (Nonesuch)

"Heirloom is an aural family scrapbook," Gabriel Kahane says, "exploring, in its three movements, a series of inheritances." The album features a concerto for piano and chamber orchestra by the same name, written by the composer/singer/songwriter for his father, the conductor and pianist Jeffrey Kahane. The orchestral collective The Knights also perform on the record. The album also features “Where are the Arms,” the title track from Kahane’s sophomore LP, in a new orchestral arrangement performed by the composer (vocals, guitar, electronics) with The Knights.

Khalid - After the Sun Goes Down CD/2xLP (RCA)

After a period where his private life became public, Khalid chose to step out of his fear and embrace his sexuality on a worldwide scale. That boldness became the heartbeat of this new album. For someone who once preferred to create in isolation, opening up to collaboration built the soundscape for this album. This album is the result of Khalid stepping out of fear and into a space of freedom, honesty and community. The album celebrates escapism, intimacy, queer empowerment, lust, desire and love. [Turquoise blue vinyl pressing.]

Charles Lloyd - Figure in Blue 2xCD/2xLP (Blue Note)

Legendary saxophonist Charles Lloyd convened a new trio of musical explorers with Jason Moran on piano and Marvin Sewell on guitar for his 87th birthday concert at the Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara and immediately brought them into the studio to record his remarkable twelfth Blue Note album, Figure In Blue. The spacious double album travels wide expanses of musical terrain from beautiful ballads to raw Delta blues and includes stunning homages to both Duke Ellington and Zakir Hussain.

Rhett Miller - A Lifetime of Riding by Night CD (ATO Records)

Rhett Miller's 10th solo record was recorded in the shadow of a potentially damaging vocal surgery. Miller recorded a batch of songs (including co-writes with Evan Felker of Turnpike Troubadours, Caitlin Rose, Nicole Atkins, former New Yorker editor Ben Greenman) then handed them off to producer and Old 97's bandmate Murry Hammond to complete as he recovered. Threaded with his lived-in reflection on mortality and love in all forms, the album contains some of Miller's most unguarded material yet.

Nevertel - Start Again CD/LP (Epitaph)

Nevertel, the Florida-based trio composed of vocalist Jeremy Michael, rapper/guitarist/producer Raul Lopez, and guitarist Alec Davis, are a rare breed in an era saturated with genre tags and algorithm-chasing playlists. Drawing on a cocktail of nu-metal nostalgia, hip-hop grit, and EDM adrenaline, their sound feels less like a blend and more like a carefully controlled detonation. It's a vision honed through years of DIY hustle and an unshakable commitment to quality over trend. Citing touchstones like Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon, the band pays homage to the titans of their youth while shaping something unmistakably their own: emotionally raw lyricism, razor-edged riffs and breakdowns. It's equal parts catharsis and chaos.

Noso - When Are You Leaving? LP (Partisan Records)

When Are You Leaving? is the second album from LA-based, Korean American artist Noso (Baek Hwong), marking a bold evolution in sound and storytelling. Where their debut explored identity and belonging, this follow-up turns inward with clarity and confidence. Blending disco grooves, jagged guitars, and dreamy ballads, Noso captures the quiet power of letting go. Self-produced and fearless, it's a coming-of-age record for anyone still becoming. [Oxblood color vinyl pressing.]

Not For Radio - Melt CD/LP

Melt is the debut solo album and "alternate reality" from María Zardoya, the lead singer and songwriter of the Grammy-nominated indie-pop band The Marías. The idea began with a question, which came to Zardoya while isolating in the snowy hills of Upstate New York: "Is love worth the pain?" As if under nature's spell, Zardoya transformed her winter heartache into a collection of intimate psychedelic ballads, imbued with a touch of gothic romanticism. [Indie exclusive clear vinyl pressing.]

Other Lives - Volume V CD/LP (Play It Again Sam)

Volume V follows on 5 years after Other Lives' fourth album, For Your Love, a record lovingly nurtured but then swallowed up by the Covid pandemic. From the first notes of the opening track and lead single "Mystic," it's clear that the cinematic breadth of their arrangements and melodies has risen several dynamic notches, with a fuller orchestrated reach and more towering drama across the album's 8 songs and 2 instrumentals - evidence of the band's hunger to keep progressing while retaining the essence of what makes them so unique and irresistible. The majority of Volume V was recorded in The Sheerar, a former church that is now the Stillwater History Museum. The Sheerar's acoustics partly accounts for the album's more cathedral-esque take on Other Lives' signature sound, which has its roots in a form of Americana but is expanded via classical and post-classical forms and the influence of iconic composers such as Ennio Morricone and Henry Mancini.

Preservation & Gabe 'Nandez - Sortilege LP (Rhymesayers)

Sortilège is the new album from esteemed producer and DJ Preservation and ascendant talent Gabe 'Nandez. The two artists first linked on Aethiopes, Preservation's 2022 collaboration with billy woods, where Nandez was featured alongside Boldy James on one of the album's standout tracks. Esoteric, yet blunt and uncomplicated as a fistfight, Sortilège erases the line between urbane and urban. It's a movie in a lucid dream, A Clockwork Négritude projected against the wall of a construction site. Mixed-use residential. Tracing this arc, fellow travelers Armand Hammer, Koncept Jack$on, Ze Nkoma Mpaga Ni Ngoko, and billy woods all make appearances. Oh, and there are drums everywhere: drums that will rattle a hooptie and drums that whisper threats.

Sydney Rose - I Know What I Want LP (Mercury)

2025 EP from the Georgia-born, Nashville-based singer songwriter.

Sanguisugabogg - Hideous Aftermath LP (Century Media)

Hideous Aftermath is the next savage step for Ohio death metal iconoclasts Sanguisugabogg - a record that sharpens their signature brutality while cutting deep into uncharted extremes. Produced by Kurt Ballou (High on Fire, Nails), the album delivers gut-churning heaviness on tracks like "Rotten Entanglement" while twisting into industrial frameworks on "Repulsive Demise." With guest appearances from members of Peeling Flesh, Full of Hell, and Cattle Decapitation, Hideous Aftermath doesn't just uphold Sanguisugabogg's reputation for filth and ferocity-it expands it. Equal parts primal and experimental, this is death metal with no regard for limits: raw, relentless, and unapologetically grotesque. [Indie exclusive green smoke vinyl pressing.]

Emily A. Sprague - Cloud Time LP (RVNG Intl)

Emily A. Sprague's Cloud Time traces an audio-spiritual journey through time and place, recorded across a long-awaited debut tour of Japan in the fall of 2024. Compiled from environmental improvisations captured in and for the moment, material at once welcoming, responsive, and inimitable, the album distills a voyage guided by psychic wayfaring, unbound presence, and activating performance for a reciprocal exchange with space, listener, and each fully engaged instant. Cloud Time is a series of postcards penned to the energetic possibilities of each lived moment, deeply felt and in dialogue with the eternal now. [White vinyl pressing.]

St Paul & the Broken Bones - St Paul & the Broken Bones CD/LP (Oasis Pizza Records)

In rock-music mythos, the self-titled album is a line in the sand-typically signifying a reinvention, a reunion, or a return to roots. St. Paul & the Broken Bones, the sixth LP from Birmingham's ever-evolving Southern-soul giants, is somehow all of these things at once-carrying forward the experimental spirit of their back-to-back heavyweights The Alien Coast and (2022) Angels in Science Fiction (2023), but with a warmer, more accessible vibe that recalls the fun, exuberance, and buoyancy of their breakout debut, Half the City (2014), and beloved follow-ups Sea of Noise (2016) and Young Sick Camellia (2018). As singer and co-founder Paul Janeway puts it, these 10 songs represent a "reset and a refresh" after a frenetic few years. Grimey's x Seasick Records exclusive Star Blue Quartz colored vinyl pressing!

Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl (Alone In My Tower Acoustic Version) CD (Republic)
Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl (Dressing Room Rehearsal Version) CD (Republic)
Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl (Life is a Song Acoustic Version) CD (Republic)
Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl (So Glamorous Cabaret Version) CD (Republic)

Expanded editions of Taylor Swift's latest album, each with alternate artwork and two exclusive bonus tracks.

The Telephone Numbers - Scarecrow II LP (Slumberland Records)

The Telephone Numbers have established themselves as a crucial part of San Francisco's fertile indie music scene, sharing members with The Reds, Pinks & Purples and The Umbrellas and a musical palette that takes in everything from the rootsier end of Byrds jangle to Lemonheads-tinged power-pop to the pop sophistication of bands like The Go-Betweens and The Church. "Scarecrow II" is their second album and a massive step forward for the band. Recorded by Alicia Vanden Heuvel at SF's Speakeasy Studios, this set of songs is deeper and richer, foregrounding the crafty tunes and lovely melodies, adding just-right bits of trumpet, violin and organ to the mix. With "Scarecrow II" The Telephone Numbers have created a record overflowing with warmth, an earnest exploration of traditionalist pop that feels fresh, vital, and essential.

Testament - Para Bellum CD/2xLP (Nuclear Blast)

With every generation comes a great war. It may take years to fully reveal itself, but the seasoned warrior knows preparation is everything. Para Bellum, Testament's fourteenth album and first in five years, stands as both a battle cry and an observation of humanity's uneasy alliance with it's own creations, reflecting the modern chaos through music that's urgent, sharp, and unflinchingly human. [Copper vinyl pressing.]

Don Was - Groove in the Face of Adversity CD (Mack Avenue)

Don Was, the 6x GRAMMY® Award-winning musician, producer and composer, pays tribute to his hometown of Detroit with his new band, Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble, and their debut album Groove In The Face of Adversity. The band includes long-time collaborators like saxophonist Dave McMurray, keyboardist Luis Resto, trombonist Vincent Chandler, trumpeter John Douglas, drummer Jeff Canady, percussionist Mahindi Masai, guitarist Wayne Gerard and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an.

Wilby - Center of Affection LP (Hit the North)

From the suburbs of Philadelphia, songwriter and performer Maria Crawford has been paving her way in the Nashville independent music scene since 2014. Formerly known as the folk artist Mar, Crawford released her debut EP Translucent Beauty in 2021. Her debut album, Center of Affection, began as a creative practice, a result of morning pages that unfurled like stream of consciousness diary entries, which led to the composition of her bravest songwriting to date. Crawford has been writing songs for over 15 years, using her music to identify and process emotions, find a way to be heard, and foster human connection. Drawing inspiration from artists and bands like Carole King, Patti Smith, The Magnetic Fields, and Death Cab for Cutie, her songs invite listeners to explore both the shared human experience and the power of telling one's story.

Yellowcard - Better Days CD/LP/cassette (Better Noise Music)

Yellowcard returns with Better Days, their first full-length album since reuniting, produced and fully drummed by Travis Barker. Known for their distinctive mix of punchy pop-punk and melodic violin, the band rose to prominence with the multi-platinum Ocean Avenue and continued to evolve with acclaimed releases like Lights and Sounds and Paper Walls. Better Days stands out as some of their most compelling work-tight, energetic, and emotionally resonant. With standout features from Avril Lavigne and Alkaline Trio, the album feels both grounded in Yellowcard's legacy and refreshed by new voices. It's a sharp, fully realized record that shows the band not just returning, but delivering at their highest level. [Pink & yellow splatter vinyl pressing.]

Reissues, Comps, Live Recordings, Vault Excavations...

The Appleseed Cast - Two Conversations LP (Numero)

The break up concept album no one asked for, The Appleseed Cast arrived on Tiger Style in 2003 amidst a second wave emo backlash. Decades later, Two Conversations is widely considered the Lawrence, Kansas, quintet's crowning achievement, an atmospheric soul-baring that eschews the Midwest varietal's tropes. Get lost in the dreamy keys and synths and steel string strums, just be home before curfew. [Clear red vinyl pressing.]

Bad Suns - Language & Perspective LP (BMG)

The 2014 breakout album Language & Perspective by Bad Suns sees a limited repress on spring green vinyl with an insert. This album features the hit tracks "Cardiac Arrest," "Salt," and "Dancing on Quicksand."

Behemoth - Pandemonic Incantations 2xCD (Metal Blade)

Recently reissued on vinyl, now available as a 2 CD set. Over 25 years on from its original release, Metal Blade Records presents a definitive reissue of the Polish extreme metal band's third studio album. This expanded edition features 7 bonus tracks, including the "Bewitching the Pomerania" EP and rare rough mixes. A 20-page booklet dives deep into the album's legacy with archival photos, liner notes, and brand-new interviews reflecting on the record's lasting impact.

Cattle Decapitation - Death Atlas 2xLP (Metal Blade)

Reissue of the 2019 album. A very exploratory record, Death Atlas sees the band going places they never have before without compromising themselves at any juncture. Death metal, grindcore, black metal, sludge, doom, drone, all of these extreme styles are thrown into the melting pot alongside some more restrained elements, and Ryan’s vocals are broader and more fully realized than ever before for the band’s 9th Studio album. ['Time's Cruel Curtain' purple & black marble color vinyl pressing.]

Various Artists - Chilling, Thrilling Hooks & Haunted Harmonies: The Big Stir Records Halloween Grimoire CD/2xLP (Big Stir Records)

The indie rock and pop event of the 2025 Halloween season! A double-length collection showcasing all-new recordings of original songs for the scary season from twenty-one artists from the Big Stir roster. The contributors are a who's-who of rising indie bands with acclaimed recent records (Librarians with Hickeys, sparkle*jets u.k., The Armoires, Crossword Smiles) alongside artists with careers reaching back to the '60s (The Strawberry Alarm Clock), the '70s (Graham Parker), the '80s (The Spongetones, The Jack Rubies) and '90s (Splitsville, hot off their comeback album Mobtown)... and more than a few surprises!

Cold - Year of the Spider LP (Real Gone Music)

The third time was the charm for Cold, as album #3 went to #3 on the charts. Vocalist Scooter Ward was always (and still is) the band’s biggest asset, so Year of the Spider’s move in a more melodic direction worked both artistically and commercially, even landing them a hit single (“Stupid Girl,” co-written with Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo). But take a closer listen, and the emotional depth and vulnerability of Ward’s lyrics really do set Cold apart from its grunge and nu-metal contemporaries. And who doesn’t relate to a song called “Kill the Music Industry?!” Incredibly, this 2003 smash has never been out on LP, but now it's been remastered for the format and pressed on red with white 'spider web swirl' vinyl nestled inside a gatefold jacket. Way overdue release!

Willie Colon & Hector Lavoe - Asalto Navideño LP (Craft Recordings)

More than 50 years after its original release, Willie Colon's Asalto Navideno, featuring Hector Lavoe on vocals and Yomo Toro on cuatro guitar, is still considered the top Latin holiday album. Named one of the "50 Greatest Salsa Albums of All Time" by Rolling Stone in 2024, the set is filled with joyful tunes like "La Murga," "Aires de Navidad" and the ever-popular medley "Popurr? Navideno." This reissue features all-analog mastering from the original tapes and is pressed on 180-gram vinyl.

The Deadly Ones - It's Monster Surfing Time LP (Real Gone Music)

You ready to catch a monster grave? Surf on this 1964 classic from the venerable Vee-Jay label! While this album has been reissued before, this is the first time it's been cut all-analog straight from the original tapes. And there are some real treats to savor in all their pure sonic glory, like "There's a Creature in the Surfer's Lagoon," which The Cramps must have heard a time or three. As always with these anonymous Halloween concept albums (see Real Gone's Frankie Stein and the Ghouls releases), speculation has run rampant as to who's playing on Monster Surfing Time; suspicion this time falls on legendary "Games People Play" guitarist Joe South, who penned five of the numbers here and whose first hit was, after all, 1958's "The Purple People Eater Meets the Witch Doctor." So we're gonna go with him as a likely suspect. ['Bloody pumpkin' vinyl pressing.]

The Devil Wears Prada - Zombie EP (Real Gone Music)

Between movies and TV shows like The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, and 28 Days (and Years) Later, the 2000s have been something of a golden age for zombie horror. But for our money, every bit as terrifying as those titles is The Devil Wears Prada’s 2010 EP Zombie. In 22 minutes, you’re an aural witness to succeeding stages of the zombie apocalypse, complete with neck-snapping riffs, frenzied vocals, intricate song structures and eerie found sound. If it ever happens, this is what it will sound like. Remastered for vinyl in its first American release to retail since its OG pressing, uncontrollably spreading across the country in radioactive test tube green wax with insert.

Foals - What Went Down LP (Warner)

10th anniversary coke bottle green / black smoke marbled vinyl reissue of the UK-based band's third album.

Peter Gabriel - Taking the Pulse Blu-Ray (Mercury)

Taking The Pulse sees Peter Gabriel performing many of the best-loved songs from his own catalog with the New Blood Orchestra. Each song is remolded by Peter and arranger John Metcalfe using the self-imposed diktat of no guitars, no drums, just orchestra. Directed by Anna Gabriel, Taking The Pulse captures the spectacle as 50 musicians (conducted by Ben Foster) performed these re-worked Gabriel classics in the magnificent open-air setting of the Arena di Verona on September 26, 2010 in Verona, Italy. The orchestra change gear and mood effortlessly, building to the furious maelstrom that concludes the opening track "The Rhythm Of The Heat, " accentuating the creeping melancholy inherent in "Intruder, " and bursting into joyous abandon for a triumphantly upbeat "Solsbury Hill."

The Ghouls - Dracula's Deuce LP (Real Gone Music)

Gary Usher made his bones penning songs for the Beach Boys (he co-wrote "In My Room" with Brian Wilson) and producing a band you might have heard of called The Byrds. In between those celebrated stints, he indulged his love of surf and hot rod music with a series of albums by such studio outfits as The Hondells, Mr. Gasser and the Weirdos, The Kickstands, and The Super Stocks. But the one album from the Usher oeuvre that everybody's been wanting to rescue from the vinyl crematorium is his frightfully funny 1964 foray into horror rock, Dracula's Deuce. In the hands of Usher and his crack outfit of Capitol studio musicians (The Ghouls a.k.a. The Wrecking Crew) and long-time collaborators like vocalist Ritchie Burns, "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena" became "The Little Old Lady from Transylvania," "Johnny B. Goode" became "Bela Be Good," and "Be True to Your School" became, you guessed it, "Be True to Your Ghoul." But for our money, the originals, composed by Usher, Richie Podolor, and Roger Christian among others, are the main attraction, including the creepy exotica of "Dracula's Theme" and the surreal "Monsterbilly Heaven." [Orange "pumpkin burnout" smoke vinyl pressing.]

Dizzy Gillespie / Sonny Stitt / Sonny Rollins - Sonny Side Up LP (Verve)

Sonny Side Up, released in 1959 on Verve Records, is the masterful studio collaboration between trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and tenor saxophonists Sonny Rollins and Sonny Stitt. Recorded in December 1957 with producer Norman Granz, the album brings together three of modern jazz's most distinctive musicians in a rare frontline configuration. Gillespie, already a pivotal architect of bebop, trades choruses with two tenor titans of contrasting approach: Rollins, with his thematic development and rhythmic elasticity, and Stitt, with his rapid-fire bebop fluency. It's rumored that Gillespie playfully pitted Rollins and Stitt against each other ahead of the session which resulted in the bar being raised and the creation of an iconic album. Make no mistake, though, the two trade blows throughout the set leaving no doubt that both are heavyweight champions.

Grateful Dead - Blues for Allah LP (Warner)

50th anniversary remaster of the 1975 album. 180 gram black vinyl pressing.

Sammy Hagar & the Best of All Worlds Band - The Residency 2xLP (Big Machine)

Don Hinson & the Rigamorticians - Monster Dance Party LP (Real Gone Music)

A 1964 horror rock classic from the king of the genre, Gary Paxton! Gary was the producer behind the all-time Halloween hit "Monster Mash," and that song rears it's revivified head here (in a little more R&B vein) along with such frightening fare as "Monster Surf Stomp," "Werewolf Watusi," and "That Little Old Graverobber Me." And let's not forget the classic single, "Riboflavin-Flavored, Non-Carbonated, Polyunsaturated Blood," which was later covered by modern day horror rockers 45 Grave! Very, very collectible stuff that's been buried in the Capitol vaults outside of a budget cassette release back in the '80s, featuring Las Vegas DJ Don Hinson doing excellent Bela Lugosi et al. impressions to producer Paxton's driving beats. [Orange and black pumpkin splatter pressing.]

Antonio Carlos Jobim - The Composer of Desafinado, Plays LP (Verve)

This 1963 album marked the U.S. debut of Brazilian songwriter and pianist Antonio Carlos Jobim as a bandleader, and it documents the beginning of what would become a long-term creative relationship between Jobim and arranger Claus Ogerman that helped define the international sound of bossa nova. Recorded in New York in 1962 and produced by Creed Taylor, the 12-song instrumental set pairs Jobim's understated guitar and piano work with Ogerman's lush orchestral arrangements, backed by a mostly American studio ensemble with select Brazilian contributors. With its soft textures, streamlined rhythms, and harmonic richness, the record emphasizes the poised intimacy that became a hallmark of Jobim's songwriting - cementing his role as both architect and ambassador of the bossa nova movement.

Megadeth - Killing Is My Business.. and Business is Good LP (Century Media)

The story of Dave Mustaine's fights with Metallica, which ultimately led to the birth of his own band Megadeth, is basic knowledge of every metal head out there and nothing that's necessary to revisit when talking about the debut assault "Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!". It was, is and forever will be one hell of an aggressive, no-holds-barred, maniacal speed/thrash record that now returns in its ultimate version! From the new artwork, which finally sees Mustaine's original vision fully realized as an actual sculpture to the brilliant remix by Mark Lewis (Trivium, Devil Driver, Whitechapel), which restores previously unheard parts and performances, allowing you to experience this album with a whole new level of details and notably increased sonic force. The Mercury Program - From the Vapor of Gasoline LP (Numero)

In the wake of the Louisville-via-Chicago late-millennium, post-rock explosion, The Mercury Program arrived at an amorphous "scene" in transition, vibraphone in hand. From The Vapor of Gasoline, their 2000 album for Tiger Style, was hardly a sophomore slump; it's ten cerebral and dissonant jams coyly answering the never-asked query: What if new age and post- hardcore bought a house in the suburbs? This 25th anniversary remaster reveals the genius of an overlooked triumph in startlingly vibrant detail, providing atmospheric color for erstwhile reptile and periodic table fans alike. Dimitri Tiomkin - It's a Wonderful Life OST LP (Real Gone Music)

Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life isn't just the most beloved holiday film of all time. It's also arguably the most quintessentially American movie ever made. Its populist message, everyman hero, patriotism, and sentimentality have proven a potent blend for multiple generations. So many scenes from this film are embroidered in our country's collective consciousness; and much of the stitching holding those scenes together was supplied by Dimitri Tiomkin's indelible score. But what you hear in the film is only a portion of what Tiomkin wrote. Director Capra cut several cues (e.g "Death Telegram"), letting those scenes play without music and rearranged where certain cues appeared. But, working with Tiomkin's original acetates, soundtrack collectors were able to piece together Tiomkin's score as originally written for release on CD about a decade ago. Real Gone Music is proud to present It's a Wonderful Life on vinyl for very first time, in its complete, restored form with a two-page insert including photos, credits, and the promo poster image of Jimmy Stewart exuberantly hoisting Donna Reed. Pressed in burgundy "Zuzu's Petals" vinyl limited to 1500 copies.
