Ketch Secor Instore Performance & Album Signing

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

We’re stoked to host our Ketch Secor at Grimey’s to celebrate the release of his new album, Story the Crow Told Me, his debut solo release. After years of fronting his band Old Crow Medicine Show, he’s finally recorded an album of songs under his own name. We’re big fans of Ketch at Grimey’s and we’re pretty sure the feeling is mutal. Over the years we’ve hosted Ketch and his band of merrymen for performances in the afternoon, performances at midnight, and performances in the parking lot. He and his bandmates have busked our Record Store Day lines, been featured in our murals, and have even shown up to work a shift! It is truly our honor to be able to welcome Ketch back to Grimey’s and hear him perform his latest batch of songs. Don’t miss your chance to be here for this special event on Wednesday, August 20th at 4:00 PM when Ketch Secor will play a short set and then sign copies of his new record. You can preorder Story the Crow Told Me on vinyl & CD on our site here or in the shop and you’ll score a wristband for the signing. Wristbands are required to participate in the signing and guarantee access to our event. (Wristbands are not required for kids 12 & under attending with wristbanded adults.)

Ketch is best known as the founder and frontman of Old Crow Medicine Show, a two-time Grammy Award-winning juggernaut whose triumphs include induction into the Grand Ole Opry, double-platinum certification, and world-wide touring. It is impossible to overstate the influence of Old Crow, whose literary songwriting, true-to-life roadside adventures, and high-octane live performances helped spur artistic shifts in country, Americana, folk, pop, and rock music spheres since the band’s formation in 1998. A prolific writer, wordsmith and storyteller, Ketch’s most familiar creation is “Wagon Wheel,” originally recorded by Old Crow Medicine and later by Darius Rucker. Co-written with Bob Dylan, “Wagon Wheel” is one of the top five best-selling country songs of all time. But his mastery of language doesn’t stop with song. From children’s books to musical theatre productions and from TEDx talks to New York Times’ opinion pieces, Ketch’s words take on many forms. When it comes to American music, Ketch is a chosen steward and a torch bearer––as well as a questioner of the gatekeepers. Serving as an advisor, historical consultant, and featured speaker in Ken Burns’ acclaimed 2019 documentary Country Music, Ketch was a bridge between generations of country music makers and lovers, as he pushed for a wider lens and deeper understanding of the art form’s roots.
