We’re super stoked to announce the return of Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country to Grimey’s! In 2023 we had the pleasure of hosting Daniel for an instore performance around the release of Reflector and we’re honored to have him back at the shop on Friday, August 22nd for a special noontime instore performance, album signing and record release celebration! Horizons, Donato’s third full length, will be released via Retrace Music on limited edition blue colored vinyl, the same day that they’ll be performing at the Ryman Auditorium! All who preorder Horizons from Grimey’s, either on our site here or in the record store, will receive a wristband with their purchase for Donato’s post-performance signing. Like space in the record store, wristbands are limited. Wristbands are required for the signing for those 13+ and guarantee entry to our event. (Kids 12 & under don’t require wristbands if attending with a wristband holding adult.) Horizons showcases the continual evolution of a band with infinite musical possibilities. All of the new material was performed live numerous times before entering the studio, which allowed the band to gain a greater vision of what each song could be when recording, and even more importantly, while performing in front of their passionate fans. Vance Powell (White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Chris Stapleton, Trey Anastasio) returns to co-produce the album following his production work on Reflector. There is an arc to Horizons that takes the listener on a journey which begins with supercharged roots influenced tracks "Blame the Train" and "Sunshine in the Rain." The tempo slows down at points throughout for melody-rich songs including "Better Deal Blues," "Along the Trail" and the stunning “Another Dimension.” A seismic shift takes place soon after the high-octane instrumental “Hangman’s Reel” with the funky “Prairie Spin,” opening a portal that leads to epic and experimental pieces “Chore” and album closer, “Down Bedford.”
