Edgehill - Ode to the Greyhouse
Edgehill - Ode to the Greyhouse
Ode To The Greyhouse is as much a document of process as it is a debut album. Written and arranged over a 6-month period of near self-isolation, the album offers a snapshot of the emotional rollercoaster experienced by a band left alone with their thoughts for an extended stretch of time. The 9-track project includes 4 new songs, “Love To Go,” as well as previously released singles “I Can Be Your Dog,” “lol,” “17 Hours,” and current Alternative Radio hit “Doubletake.”
“Love To Go” was written before the members of Edgehill had even settled on the band’s name. As the second song we ever wrote, it captures the raw, anthemic energy that can only come from the excitement of starting a band. There has never been an Edgehill show without it; it’s a staple of our live set and has grown into a true fan favorite. That’s why it feels especially fitting that its release coincides with the announcement of our first full-length record. There’s something undeniably poetic about that.”
The Nashville, TN trio—Chris Kelly [lead vocals, guitar], Jake Zimmermann [lead guitar, vocals], and Aidan Cunningham [drums]—don’t sand down or smooth out the edges of their songs. Instead, they find truth in the fissure between fuzzed-out distortion and disarmingly infectious melodies, bringing old-fashioned grit back to alternative. They deliver the kinds of hooks that ruled Alternative Nation during MTV’s golden age, yet could just as easily translate to a generation born and raised on social media. It’s the sound of growing up as amplified through grainy guitar riffs and the kinds of lyrics that give you permission to speak your mind and heart.
