Nessa Barrett - Tough Love CD/LP (Warner)
Nessa Barrett's third album, "Tough Love" is a sonic dark romantic experience featuring the lead single "Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die". Each song represents different forms of romance, diving into the darkest and toughest parts of love itself. Steve Bates - An Infinite Antenna CD/LP (Constellation)
Montréal-based sound artist Steve Bates expands his strategies and stylistic influences on An Infinite Antenna, his second solo album for Constellation, giving freer reign to melodic components and textural dynamics: leftfield synth work, deconstructed drum machine, pointillist electric guitar, and radiostatic blur are all part of the new brew swirling around his bruitist signal-bending and field-recording sensibility. Arguably a more ambient album than his acclaimed 2022 Constellation debut, An Infinite Antenna is at the same time more densely packed with ideas, dynamics, evocations and earworms.
Blondshell - Violins CD/LP (Partisan)
Violins, the third album from Blondshell, finds Sabrina Teitelbaum digging in. Following her acclaimed 2023 self-titled debut and 2025's If You Asked For A Picture, the 11-track Violins trades the veil of bad romantic relationships for something braver, asking how we balance the world's violence with its beauty across songs about troubled friendships, religion, the body, and the long, unglamorous work of healing. It's an album of grandeur, drama, and tragedy, built on virtuoso hooks, swelling guitars, and big lead lines, pulling in fresh touchstones from Gang of Four, Teenage Fanclub, The Go-Betweens, and Sade, alongside lyrical nods to Leonard Cohen and Pavement. Brat - Manslayer LP (Prosthetic Records)
Brat is a New Orleans-based extreme metal band known for their "bimboviolence" or "Barbiecore" aesthetic. Founded in 2020 during Mardi Gras, they have quickly made a name for themselves in the hardcore, death grind, and power violence scenes by pairing blistering heavy riffs with bright, Y2K-inspired feminine imagery and pop samples. Leon Bridges - Happiness Anytime CD/LP (Columbia)
Leon Bridges' highly-anticipated fifth studio album, produced by J. Lloyd and Lydia Kitto of Jungle. The album's title serves as both a mission statement and an invitation. It's music you can put on no matter how you're feeling and be immediately transported somewhere coastal and warm. In crafting the album, Leon Bridges focused on feeling, storytelling, and his vocal performance. Lydia Kitto brought melodic intuition and harmonic detail, and J. Lloyd shaped the production, arrangements, and sonic structure. The result is an album that feels unusually cohesive, like three musicians discovering a shared vision, drawing inspiration from Fela Kuti's Afrobeat, Brazilian music, soul, disco, and South American rhythms. Brother Bird - The Lodge in Miller County LP (Easy Does It)
Brother Bird is the project of Caroline Glaser, whose work blends intimate, confessional lyricism with atmospheric textures. Drawing influence from artists like Mazzy Star, Big Thief, and The Cranberries, her music sits in a space that is both soft and unflinching, often centering on themes of imposter syndrome, dissatisfaction, and the complexity of being human. A Lodge In Miller County was produced by Glaser alongside Jamie Martens, Owen Lewis, and Andy Hull, continuing a collaborative thread that has helped shape her evolving sound while maintaining the emotional clarity at the center of her work. Harry Connick Jr - BABE: ELABORATIO (A Tribute To My Mother) CD (Mindfish Music)
Babe: Elaboratio is Harry Connick Jr.'s most personal work to date: a 50-minute orchestral piece for piano, big band, and full orchestra, written as a tribute to his mother. Connick was ten years old when his mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer; she died three years later, when he was thirteen. Sweeping in scope and deeply intimate in origin, Babe: Elaboratio finds Connick moving beyond the stage to reveal a side of his story he's never shared before - the private grief, memory, and devotion behind the music.
Renny Conti - Split Second LP (Mom + Pop)
New studio album from the indie rock/alt-country singer-songwriter. If there's a central question to Split Second, it's a universal one: How did we end up here? Grief mingles with breakups and reunions, with desperate treks across the country and moments of stillness in New York City parks. Standouts include "Mona Lisa," a dusty and lived-in acoustic amble flecked with autumnal electric guitars, written after Renny got back together with his girlfriend. "Impossible Truth" is the other side, a thrumming road song in which urgent drums and melodies inspired by angsty '00s mall-rock propel the narrator into relationship-rupturing arguments.
Courant Zero - Solari CD/LP (Constellation)
Courant Zéro is the new moniker of Montréal multi-media installation artist and Kohlenstoff label co-founder Maxime Corbeil-Perron, signalling his return to purely recording-based electronic music production following several years focused on award-winning experimental film and audio-visual works. Solari channels his cinematic sensibility and decade-long exploration of sound art and electroacoustic counterpoint into deep cuts of maximalist ambient electronica. Drawing on his early background as a pianist and jazz drummer, Corbeil-Perron weaves a fabric of melodic and rhythmic vectors with his unique timbral palette, intersecting modern composition, IDM, ambient, glitch, and noise on a debut album brimming with sonic detail and emotive resonance.
Daisyhead - If You Find It, Let Me Know LP (Smartpunk Records)
Daisyhead is an emo/hopeful-shoegaze band that formed in 2012 and has seen many chapters. Members Michael Roe, Branson Summers, Jake Curtis, Devin DeLeon, and Hunter Bates recorded the band's third album If You Find It, Let Me Know with Brett Romnes at The Barber Shop Studios. Dungen - Vidrig Vår CD/LP (Skolhaus)
The new album from Swedish psych-rockers Dungen is an open and intimate exploration of the end of a long-term relationship. FKJ - Tyber CD (Mom + Pop)
Recently released on vinyl, now available on CD. Across French producer FKJ's new album Tyber, groove-driven compositions sit alongside jazz-led instrumentals, sample-heavy explorations and more direct songwriting moments, moving seamlessly through funk, alt-pop, R&B and psychedelic textures without ever losing cohesion. The album feels both deeply personal and globally informed, spotlighting an artist documenting his evolution in real time. Tyber also features an expansive list of collaborators including Lucy Park, Baby Rose, Bas, Eryn Allen Kane and Labrinth, further reflecting the breadth of influences and perspectives woven throughout the project.
Morgan Freeman - Morgan Freeman's Symphonic Blues Experience CD (Decca)
A contemporary blues album performed by Chineke! Orchestra, narrated by Morgan Freeman, and conducted by Martin Gellner, who created all the new arrangements for this project. Recorded between the world-class recording studios: Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, and Abbey Road, this album weaves together powerful cinematic storytelling with live blues and orchestral performances, collaborating with Grammy Award-winning producers, and blues performers.

Gilla Band - Pugnello CD/LP/deluxe LP (Rough Trade)
Gilla Band never know where they're going next. For over ten years now, the Dublin quartet have been redefining what you could loosely call "rock music" in the 21st century, influencing a wide swath of similarly forward-thinking guitar acts along the way. Across their first three studio albums, the band perfected a vision that wasn't quite post-punk, wasn't quite noise-rock, wasn't quite anything besides an idiosyncratic, ground-breaking hybrid. In the four years 2022's since Most Normal, each member embarked on other artistic endeavors, with bassist Daniel Fox producing for bands like Sprints and Lambrini Girls, guitarist Alan Duggan Borges launching his solo project Null Club, and vocalist Dara Kiely honing his painting chops. All their extracurricular activity existed in parallel with the exploratory route towards Pugnello, but also informed the band as they reconvened to crystallize the album’s vision. Godflesh - Decay CD/LP (Relapse)
"Music for me, is rarely complete," says Godflesh mastermind Justin Broadrick, "but it has to reach a point where enough is enough. Creatively, there has to be self-discipline. One has to end it." Broadrick is primarily referring to the nebulous process of writing and arranging songs into their various potential shapes, but he could just as easily be describing Godflesh's imminent conclusion. Just three years after the hypnotic crunch of Purge, 25 years after an uncertain hiatus that nearly scuttled the band, and 38 years since Godflesh's inception, Broadrick and bassist-at-arms Ben Green set out to mercilessly crush this cold world with their tenth and penultimate album, Decay. Gyasi does something unexpected with "Songs From The Holler," trading his signature high-voltage rock n' roll for the humble sounds of home. Born and raised in the rugged hills of a West Virginia holler, Gyasi returns to his roots and the solitary mountains of his youth, celebrating the music he first encountered as a child by recording a vibrant folk-blues album. Nearly captured in the wild with just two microphones, the songs on "Songs From The Holler" feel authentic and heartfelt. The album blends familiar classics and forgotten gems with four original tracks, highlighting Gyasi's tasteful guitar work and his genuine connection to this music.
Hermanos Gutiérrez - Los Ojos Del Cóndor CD/LP (Easy Eye Sound)
Hermanos Gutiérrez presents a new world of sound on their latest album Los Ojos del Cóndor, leaving behind the cosmos for the coastal mist of Lima, Peru where the brothers' lineage takes root. Julia Jacklin - The Gem CD/LP (4AD)
The fourth studio album (and first for 4AD) from the celebrated Australian singer-songwriter was recorded at home in Melbourne. When Julia first moved to Melbourne from Sydney in 2017, she discovered a little bar called The Gem on a back street in Collingwood, where bands pushed dining tables to the side and set up in a corner on the floor. “The Gem felt like a metaphor for the whole process, because a lot of it did feel like digging. I felt like I was almost doing it in the dark, just trusting that I was going to find something,” says Jacklin of the record, which conjures images of excavation, of reinvention, of trusting your instincts and surrounding yourself with the people and things that make life worthwhile. Light Conductor - Sequence Three CD/LP (Constellation)
The Montréal psych-ambient synth-droners return with Sequence Three, their first album in five years and the final instalment in the group’s trilogy of records that began in 2019. The spectral supergroup co-founded by Stephen Ramsay (Young Galaxy) and Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes), usually joined in some capacity by Lasek’s Besnard bandmate Olga Goreas, deliver another dose of its trademark longform slowburn jams, forged from restored vintage synths and analogue electronic gear. Evoking a humid dawn on a gas giant, these alien drone anthems meld the numinous transcendentalism of Spiritualized and Cluster with the eroded grit of William Basinski and GAS.
Meg Lui - Instant Validation LP (Asthmatic Kitty)
Meg Lui is a Northern California-born singer-songwriter, based in the Hudson Valley since 2015. In her songs, vivid lyrics and poignant melodies intertwine with a voice that feels both intimate and lasting. Through reflections on love, resilience, and the human experience, she offers listeners a window into her world. In recent years Meg has also lent her voice to records including Sufjan Stevens' Javelin (2023), Sam Evian's Plunge, and Liam Kazar's Pilot Light. Murex - Inventio CD/LP (Young)
Artists making pop music today are expected to calcify as one easily consumable version of themselves, or capitulate wildly to the capricious algorithm. Swedish musician and artist Murex is already an accomplished songwriter, propelling the work of women challenging those constraints their way. Across a glitching, glimmering constellation of 10 tracks, Inventio redraws the boundaries of her own subconscious through daring harmonic modulations, glitchy electronica, and frenetic orchestral sequencing. Deeply informed by Nordic folklore, it moves through a journey confronting body dysmorphia, control, and a staccatoing sense of self - reaching toward creative and emotional liberation through ethereal, amorphous avant-pop.

Joy Oladokun - Hope Is a Heavy Thing CD/LP (Concord)

Protomartyr - Hotel Usona LP (Domino)
Protomartryr's seventh full-length studio album, recorded with legendary producer Dave Fridmann (Nick Cave, MGMT, The Flaming Lips) at his own Tarbox Road Studios in western New York, is an effort that finds the Detroit post-punk outfit reckoning with the horrors of our current moment. Over the last two decades, Protomartyr have built one of the most rewarding and often exhilarating bodies of work in recent memory by veering in and out of darkness, grappling with what most frightens us, saddens us, disgusts us, embarrasses and enrages us. Hotel Usona finds guitarist-multi-instrumentalist and co-producer Greg Ahee drawing new influence from musical traditions of Southwest Asian and '50s exotica, finding common ground between dread and joy.
Railcard - Two Steps at a Time CD (Slumberland)
Railcard formed in 2025 when Rachel Love (Dolly Mixture), Ian Button and Peter Momtchiloff (Heavenly) met at a gig, realized that they were the same age, and decided that this was an excellent reason to form a band. The tunes range from delicate and swoony Bacharach-tinged soft-pop to raucous 'Girls In The Garage' workouts to 60s folk rock bangers to mesmerizing indiepop-meets-kosmiche chug. It's a wide-ranging pop vision informed by decades of combined pop fandom and creation - timeless, vital and, most importantly, a heck of a lot of fun. [Vinyl edition due out 10/2.]
Saliva - Breaking Through LP (Judge & Jury)
New studio album from the hard rock/post-grunge act, featuring standout collaborations with Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch, original Hinder vocalist Austin John Winkler, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, adding depth, firepower, and cross-generational rock weight to the record. With a catalog spanning over two decades and a reputation for electrifying live performances, Saliva and lead vocalist Bobby Amaru continue to carve their place in the rock landscape. Smidley - Murphy Horse LP (Royal Mountain Records)
In the past ten years, Conor Murphy the person and Smidley the band have come to exist beyond the mere creative overflow left unexplored in his work with Foxing. All over Murphy Horse are performances tinged with shoegaze, tropicalia, and 80's rock influence that see Smidley extending beyond his earlier closely-sung, indie folk style. Murphy leans much more into Smidley as an ensemble. Though not a debut by any means, to Murphy, Murphy Horse certainly feels like one. Features a duet with Lucy Dacus. Space Afrika - Quiet Storm CD/LP (Dais)
Space Afrika, the Manchester/Berlin-based duo of Joshua Tarelle Reid and Joshua Inyang, make raw, intensely detailed, visceral music with shades of ambient, trip-hop, techno, and modern classical, drawing spacious urban dubscapes from the contours of their city. Quiet Storm expands on their sound and scale as a sprawling, collaborative vision shaped with profound patience and intention, embedding their own coming-of-age story within a moving suite of cathartic abstraction. Squanderers - Bright Madness LP (Blue Chopsticks)
Bright Madness is the third album from the improvising trio of Wendy Eisenberg, David Grubbs, and Bonner Kramer, a glorious afternoon's worth of instant compositions laid down in Asheville NC in the early spring of 2025. The sound of Eisenberg, Grubbs, and Kramer doing their damnedest to dazzle one another is encompassing, flowing from shell-game sleights of hand to effortless beauty in the flicker of an ear, a lyrical group sound, with an insistent, vivid and immediate feel.
Sunken Man - Sunken Man LP (Single Lock)
Sunken Man frontman Michael Rawls grew up between Suffolk and Norfolk, Virginia. Small-town stillness on one side, city noise on the other. Rawls built a full life outside of music: financial advisor, business owner, family... and the songs kept showing up anyway. Then a marriage ended, and in the quiet of a house where a child was sleeping, he started writing in earnest. Songs about heartbreak and rebuilding. About loving someone new while still carrying what came before. The result is nine songs that sit somewhere between Springsteen's emotional directness and Wilco's melodic intelligence.

True Mountain Laurel - Angel So Bad LP (Birthday Cake)
Haley Blais and Sam Lynch unite as True Mountain Laurel, a supergroup born from late-night harmonies, voice memos, and friendship. Their debut project, Angel So Bad, blends Sam's poetic introspection with Haley's sharp lyrical intimacy into dust-swept folk-country songs that capture longing, growth, and connection.
Ann Wilson & Tripsitter - Consecrated Ground CD/LP (Label Logic)
Ann Wilson, the singular voice of legendary rock band, Heart, returns with her band Tripsitter on Consecrated Ground, a nine-track statement that proves one of rock's most commanding vocalists has lost none of her fire. Far from a victory lap, the record is a forward-charging body of work, moving from the defiant kiss-off of opener "I Will Not Be Coming Back" through the raw nerve of "Bone Pain," the swagger of "Hot Foot," and the searching turns of "Dissonance," "Renaissance," and closer "Reverse Chaos."
