Calibro 35 - Exploration LP (Record Kicks)

Italian cinematic funk legends Calibro 35 continue their journey into the world of cinematic jazz-funk with their new album. "Exploration" is a deep dive into the universe of cinematic jazz-funk, showcasing both the band's reinterpretations of timeless classics such as Roy Ayers' "Coffy" or Bob James "Nautilus" and original compositions by the band such us the lead single "Reptile Strut", the jazz-funk stormer "The Twang" and the soulful cinematic number "Pied de Poule". An exploration and a new journey for the Milanese combo that a long it's way pays homage to artists such as Lalo Schifrin (Mission Impossible), Italian Maestro Piero Umiliani (Discomania and Gassman Blues) and Herbie Hancock (Chamelon). Described by Rolling Stone as "the most fascinating, retro-maniac and genuine thing that has happened to Italy in the past few years," Milan-based Calibro 35 enjoy a worldwide reputation as one of the coolest independent bands around. Active since 2007, during their long career, they have been sampled by Dr. Dre on Compton ("One Shot One Kill" feat. Snoop Dogg), Jay-Z ("Picasso Baby"), The Child of Lov & Damon Albarn ("One Day"), and Demigodz ("The Summer Of Sam").

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Personal History CD/LP (Lambent Light)

“I started writing the songs on this album as the pandemic began winding down; the titular song "What Did You Miss" pointed the way forward, with it's final verse: "I've been writing it down/song by song/as a personal history" when imagining this collection of songs as memoir, and how the wisdom that comes with growing older becomes a north star, whether one is celebrating life's joys or navigating life's inevitable losses.” —MCC.

Jesse Daniel - Son of the San Lorenzo CD/LP (Lightning Rod)

Jesse Daniel recounts the brightest and darkest chapters of his life on his autobiographical fifth studio album, Son Of The San Lorenzo. "It's about growing up in a small mountain town in the San Lorenzo Valley and the winding road that led me away from those simpler days of childhood," he says. "It covers my struggle and victory over addiction, and the insatiable appetite I had for adventure, which drove me to leave my home in pursuit of a career as a singer-songwriter. Those mountains shaped who I am as an artist and they will always be home in my heart." This album goes beyond a collection of instantly iconic country tunes-it's a testament to resilience, trusting the journey, and the transformative power of maturing and letting go.

Ben De La Cour - New Roses CD/LP (Julian Records)

On five previous albums, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Ben de la Cour refined a subgenre of Americana he has, with a sidelong wink, termed Americanoir. On his sixth, New Roses, he puts up digital billboards to illuminate the subgenre’s dirty streets. Which is a dramatic, noirish way of writing that he adds synthesizers and computerized loops (the latter via instrumentation listed as “dorkatron” in the credits) and thereby gives a dolefully glitchy modernity to his takes on traditionalist country, rock, and folk.

McKinley Dixon - Magic Alive CD/LP (City Slang)

McKinley Dixon arrives with Magic, Alive!, the final installment of his trilogy of records directly inspired by the works of Toni Morrison. McKinley Dixon arrives with Magic, Alive!, the final installment of his trilogy of records directly inspired by the works of Toni Morrison. [Indie exclusive neon orange vinyl, signed!]

The Doobie Brothers - Walk This Road CD/LP (Rhino)

Legendary hitmakers The Doobie Brothers' new 10-track album 'Walk This Road' features a reunited lineup of members Patrick Simmons, Tom Johnston, John McFee and Michael McDonald. "Walk This Road' was recorded with producer John Shanks and showcases the band's unique songwriting process and diverse stylistic perspectives, for what would be melded into one cohesive work, featuring the signature Doobie Brothers sound. Recurring themes on the album include recovery, enlightenment - "waking up to see the important things you've been missing," says Simmons. The title track on the album, "Walk This Road," featuring Mavis Staples, embodies a sense of hope and togetherness, in terms of searching for the right path forward."

Elbow - Audio Vertigo Echo Elbow EP5 LP (Capitol)

Elbow's fifth EP, 'AUDIO VERTIGO ECHO elbow EP 5' features 2024's one-off release "Adriana Again," alongside three brand-new and unheard tracks. Guy Garvey describes the EP as "finishing something for the band in lots of ways. We are having more fun in the studio than ever before. Craig's on fire as a producer, Pete and Alex are the coolest rhythm section working and Pot's unpredictable rhythm guitar has started working it's way into such a soulful and accomplished place. The words are all stories from my past, sometimes joyful, often dark, but all of it exciting and mostly true. It feels like we're having another go on the Waltzers after hours."

Brian Eno & Beatie Wolfe - Luminal CD (Verve)

Collaborative album from Beatie Wolfe and Brian Eno. Neither of us has ever made a record like Luminal before. Luminal is Electric-Country-Dream-Music.

Cynthia Erivo - I Forgive You CD/LP (Republic)

Allow Cynthia Erivo to reintroduce herself. The multifaceted Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award-winner and 3x Academy Award-nominated actress, singer, author and producer bares her soul on her sophomore album, I Forgive You. Tenderly blending the sounds of pop, R&B, folk, Britpop, yodeling, wailing and gospel, Cynthia leaps headfirst into a bold new chapter of her artistry. Impassioned and warm, heartbreaking and vulnerable, I Forgive You is a soft testimony, a haunting plea to be witnessed with an open heart. With each track, Cynthia hopes "that people see the human in me. When you're in the public eye, people forget that you are human because they see you as an entity, but not actually flesh and bone, just like everybody else." The music, her story, is a braised reminder that we're all just flesh and bone. The good and the bad - and everything in between - make up the stories of our lives, and Cynthia Erivo is a sight to behold. "This is all just part of the human experience."

Rebecca Foon - Reverie LP (Constellation)

Reverie is a soundtrack of atmospheric chamber music for violin, cello, and piano by sisters Rebecca Foon and Aliayta Foon-Dancoes, and marks the first full-length album collaboration between the two players/composers. Reverie melds cellist Rebecca's post-rock and semi-improvised sensibility forged from over two decades playing in DIY/indie bands like Esmerine, Thee Silver Mt. Zion, and Set Fire To Flames, with violinist Aliayta's more recent trajectory from award-winning virtuosic performer to academically-shaped explorations of interdisciplinary composition.

Frankie and the Witch Fingers - Trash Classic CD/LP (RAS)

Hooks so infectious they rot on impact. Trash Classic marks a feral mutation for Frankie and the Witch Fingers-a record that snarls with proto-punk venom, angular melodies, and electronic textures that cough and sputter like dying neon lights under a poisoned sky. This record pushes the Witch Fingers' sound to a razor's edge. Wiry and twitching, it bends into synth-punk and fractured new wave, with fragments of industrial grime caked under it's nails. Guitars detonate and slice like cinderblocks through glass, while gnashing basslines slither through the sludge, alive and seething. Buzzy synths take the forefront, driving relentless rhythms that crack and pop, drenched in a chemically saturated sheen-part bug-eyed speed-freak pogo, part dance floor delirium. The result is a raw, twisted monument to rot and excess-toxic glamour and nihilistic salvation. Trash Classic isn't just a record; it's an auditory dumpster bible-a gutter gospel for those ready to dive into its filth. [Indie exclusive neon green vinyl.]

Andy Frasco & The U.N. - Growing Pains LP (Fun Machine Records)

Andy Frasco & The U.N. are back with 'Growing Pains', their landmark 10th studio album and first full-length release since 2023's 'L'Optimist'. Blending indie, folk, rock, and alternative influences, the album showcases Andy Frasco's growth as both a songwriter and band frontman. Known for his infectious charisma and wild, kaleidoscopic live shows, Andy is a cross between John Belushi's "Joliet" Jake Blues and Jimmy Buffett, with a dash of Springsteen. [Indie exclusive forest green vinyl.]

Gaahls Wyrd - Braiding the Stories CD/LP (Season of Mist)

Carved from the cold marrow of Norway’s enigmatic and revered black metal scene, GAAHLS WYRD conjure a spellbinding fusion of chaos and beauty. Under the commanding presence of Kristian “Gaahl” Espedal, the band carve a sweeping saga of sound - both primal and transcended. With ‘Braiding the Stories’, GAAHLS WYRD embark on an alchemical journey through the realms of consciousness and dreams, crafting a sonic narrative that explores the seamless dance between the seen and the unseen. Each track is a profound exploration of reality's veils, crystallizing the ephemeral through the powerful conjunction of philosophical introspection and audacious musical composition.

Ben Lamar Gay - Yowzers CD/LP (International Anthem)

Yowzers is a new album by Chicago composer, improvisor, and musical folklorist Ben LaMar Gay. Gay's de facto debut album—the 2018 compilation Downtown Castles Can Never Block The Sun—properly introduced him to the world by placing fifteen stylistically diverse tracks from seven then-unreleased albums next to one another. His critically-acclaimed 2021 song cycle Open Arms To Open Us followed. In addition to being featured on a staggering number of International Anthem releases (including albums by Makaya McCraven, jaimie branch, and Damon Locks), Gay is one of the most prolific collaborators in creative music today, making active contributions to Mike Reed’s Separatist Party, Joshua Abrams’s Natural Information Society, Bitchin Bajas, Theaster Gates’s Black Monks of Mississippi, and more. [Limited edition “ipomoea jalapa” vinyl.]

Gruesome - Silent Echoes CD/LP (Relapse)

Gruesome return with Silent Echoes, a ferocious Death Metal onslaught, fueled by progressive, razor sharp musicianship. Celebrating over a decade as the finest purveyors of old-school Death Metal inspired by the legendary Chuck Schuldiner and the many iterations of Death, the new album sees Gruesome transition away from the no-frills riff-fests heard on their Savage Lands and Twisted Prayers LPs, and shift towards a more nuanced form of terror. [Indie exclusive swamp green vinyl.]

JPEGMAFIA - I Lay Down My Life for You (Director’s Cut) 2xLP (Peggy)

JPEGMAFIA, a trailblazing force in experimental hip hop, releases his latest solo project, I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU. This album, his first since 2021, is a complex and innovative work that showcases his meticulous production skills. Featuring collaborations with Denzel Curry, Vince Staples, and Buzzy Lee, the album explores themes like capitalism, conscription, and propaganda through some of JPEGMAFIA's most anarchic raps to date. The Directors Cut includes demos, extra singles and instrumental tracks.

Katatonia - Nightmares As Extensions of the Waking State CD/LP (Napalm)

Nightmares have never sounded so beautiful! Swedish grandeurs of melancholic heaviness, Katatonia, return with Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State. Once again, the Stockholm-based unit masterfully navigates the tightrope act between nocturnal darkness and Scandinavian despair while subtly weaving a sense of hope into the listener's heart.

Takuya Kuroda - Everyday LP (Diggers Factory)

Kobe-born, Brooklyn-based trumpeter Takuya Kuroda's eight studio album, Everyday is a stunning demonstration of his dedication and skill. Since the release of his soulful seventh album, 2022's Midnight Crisp - a record praised by PopMatters as a "future classic" - Kuroda has not missed a beat. In his desire to achieve the "perfect blend of production and organic performance" the 45-year-old musician has continued to throw himself into his practice daily, nearly thirty years into his musical life. Everyday builds on and dives ever deeper into the hip hop and neo-soul elements of his previous work. It is a triumph of genre-blending modern jazz.

Lifeguard - Ripped and Torn CD/LP (Matador)

The youthful Chicago trio of Asher Case, Isaac Lowenstein, and Kai Slater have been making music together since they were in high school, nearly a quarter of their lives. Noisy and immediate, cryptic but heartfelt, they draw inspiration from punk, dub, power-pop and experimental sounds, and bring them all together in explosive inspiration. Over their two prior summers on Matador, Lifeguard’s EPs carefully documented the band’s early, earnest, studio explorations. But their tremendous live shows, anchored by Lowenstein’s rock-steady backbeat, hinted that something greater was waiting in the wings. On Ripped and Torn, the barbed-wire sound frames Slater and Case’s newly rich two-part harmonies and collagiste lyrics. Producer Randy Randall (No Age) captures a claustrophobic scrappiness that conjures the feeling and energy of the house parties and live shows, where ears are easily overwhelmed, and ragged improvisations connect with the same force as melodic hooks. The band remains a singular and intimate space where freedom, noise, and melody find visceral form.

Lil Wayne - Tha Carter VI CD/LP (Young Money)

The Carter series didn’t just raise the bar – it became the bar. Multi-platinum trailblazer, 5x Grammy-winner and the undisputed GOAT Lil Wayne returns with Tha Carter VI, the highly anticipated next chapter in one of the most influential series in hip-hop history. [Indie exclusive yellow vinyl shipped late and will arrive next week.]

Tyreek McDole - Open Up Your Senses CD/LP (Artwork Records)

With Open Up Your Senses, his highly anticipated debut album, Tyreek McDole makes a bold statement as one of the most compelling young jazz vocalists of his generation. A rich baritone with a deep connection to the jazz tradition, McDole draws inspiration from legendary predecessors like Johnny Hartman and Leon Thomas while carving out a distinctly original voice. His collaboration with exceptional musicians - including pianists Kenny Barron and Sullivan Fortner - brings an adventurous spirit to the album, blending classic jazz influences with innovative harmonies.

Mojoflo - What It Is LP (Color Red)

The threads of unity, enlightenment, and positivity weave through MojoFlo's uplifting debut full-length album, What It Is, binding together universal messages with a fresh, emergent voice. Hailing from Ohio-the birthplace of funk-MojoFlo solidifies their role as the next torchbearers in this historic lineage. The 8-track album is a culmination of over a decade's worth of songs and ideas that, in many ways, mark both a closing chapter and usher in the dawn of a new era. "That's What's Up" exemplifies the future of funk being co-signed by royalty as it features Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Bootsy Collins (James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic) alongside MojoFlo's own Amber Knicole on vocals. [Limited edition glittery galaxy color vinyl.]

Mother Mother - Nostalgia LP (Warner Records)

Nostalgia, the title of Mother Mother's 10th album, is set to be released in celebration of our 20th anniversary. This title is fitting not only because of the timing, but also because the content of the album; it truly embodies the fundamental spirit of our band. Sonically, this record offers more while having less; it breathes with big dynamics and moves away from the over compressed, modern wall-of-sound approach. It is an indie record, yet methodically crafted. Musically, it is unconventional, eclectic, and quirky. Lyrically, these songs touch on all the classic Mother Mother themes: alienation, existentialism, self-love, self-hate, gender roles, and spirituality, all set against vibrant imagery of otherworldly landscapes and mythical creatures. Notably, the Unicorn serves as the album's mascot and defining image.

North Mississippi Allstars - Still Shakin’ CD/LP (New West)

North Mississippi Allstars was founded by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson in 1996 as a loose collective of musicians from North Mississippi and Memphis, TN, inspired by their neighbors, RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Otha Turner and the late Fred McDowell. “Still Shakin’ is a celebration of their life-changing first album Shake Hands with Shorty, released 25 years ago. They dipped into the North Mississippi repertoire and experience of the 90’s, touring with RL Burnside, recording Otha Turner, hanging at Junior’s Juke, filtering new interpretations thru their current instincts. The well never runs dry and the cast of characters never fails. They recorded their 2nd generation friends Duwayne Burnside and Robert Kimbrough at Duwaynes Juke Joint in Holly Springs. The Sacred Steel Guitar of bandmates Ray Ray Hollowman and Kashiah Hunter blessed the music alongside the vocals and rhythm of Joey Williams, from the Blind Boys of Alabama. Their albums meld music to come but are always a snapshot of who they are running with presently. That to say, Ray Ray and Joey have enriched NMA’s music for the last few years and they cherish their contributions to Still Shakin’. The group look forward to the next 25 years of North Mississippi World Boogie. [Indie exclusive opaque red vinyl.]

The Now - Now Does the Trick LP (K Records)

With balance, harmony, and simplicity, The Now slips their hand into the pocketbook of the modfathers without being nicked by nostalgia. Harmony on every corner, "Beat Girl" playing on late night TV… The fantasy soundtracks… People doing handstands at a party with Syd Barrett where the Soft Boys play in the background and no one crosses a picket line. Like a long walk next to the train tracks on Ringo's day out with Sunlight Bathed in the Golden Glow: A little blood in your teeth of an Andy and Edie bubblegum Dream. 12 songs 33rpm.

Tim O’Brien & Jan Fabricius - Paper Flowers CD (Howdy Skies)

Tim O'Brien might operate a bit under music business radar, but he's been an essential part of the fabric of the folk, bluegrass, Americana, and songwriter scenes for the past fifty years. Since his emergence as singer, instrumentalist, and songwriter with the iconic 1980's bluegrass group Hot Rize, the West Virginia native has continued down a diverse and constantly evolving musical pathway. In the process he's written songs for people like Garth Brooks and the Dixie Chicks, released rootsy classics like "Red on Blonde" and "The Crossing", and earned a few Grammy awards. For the past ten years, O'Brien has performed primarily with his wife Jan Fabricius, and their new release "Paper Flowers" is tangible proof of that deep collaboration.

Orthodox - A Door Left Open CD/LP (Century Media)

A Door Left Open is Orthodox’s magnum opus; the stand-out masterwork of their already incredibly impressive discography. With blistering, aggressive elements that fit just as well in the late 90s as they fit in 2025 and a whirlwind undercurrent of ultra-abrasive metalcore to keep the entirety of its modest duration cohesive, A Door Left Open is a thematic, conceptual and crushing release that demands the listener’s full attention.

Pulp - More CD/LP (Rough Trade)

“Well: when we started touring again in 2023, we practiced a new song called "Hymn of the North" during soundchecks & eventually played it at the end of our second night at Hammersmith Odeon. This seemed to open the floodgates: we came up with the rest of the songs on this album during the first half of 2024. A couple are revivals of ideas from last century. The music for one song was written by Richard Hawley. The music for another was written by Jason Buckle. The Eno family sing backing vocals on a song. There are string arrangements written by Richard Jones & played by the Elysian Collective. The album was recorded over 3 weeks by James Ford in Walthamstow, London, starting on November 18th, 2024. This is the shortest amount of time a Pulp album has ever taken to record. It was obviously ready to happen.” [Indie exclusive blue sky marble vinyl.]

Hayden Pedigo - I’ll Be Waving As You Drive Away LP (Mexican Summer)

I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away is the new album from Hayden Pedigo; a psychedelic, show stopping finale to Texas born and bred artist's fabled Motor Trilogy. Fusing intricate American primitive guitar play with elegant ensemble accompaniments, lush mellotron choirs, and wordless, cinematic storytelling, I'll Be Waving is a dazzling, emotionally vibrant portrait of a restless artist revealing his truest self. Objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are.

Turnstile - Never Enough CD/LP/Cassette (Roadrunner)

Recorded between Los Angeles and their homes in Baltimore, NEVER ENOUGH is produced by Turnstile's Brendan Yates. The expansive collection is a restless and exhilarating. [Indie exclusive periwinkle color vinyl.]

Ines Velasco - A Flash of Cobalt Blue CD/LP (Outside In Music)

Inspired by a moment of artistic revelation over a decade ago, this album is the culmination of composer and pianist Inés Velasco's long-held vision. The journey began when Velasco attended a live reading of Descripción de un brillo azul cobalto (Description of a Flash of Cobalt Blue) by renowned Mexican writer Jorge Esquinca. The poetry struck a deep chord, sparking the desire to one day create a musical project around it. Esquinca, a family friend, became a collaborator and mentor, guiding Velasco through the intricate rhythm, construction, and symbolism of his work. In 2014, their conversations turned to the idea of a project, and he granted her full permission to interpret and incorporate his writing however she saw fit. The music took shape over years of evolution-starting, stopping, and shifting instrumentation-until, in 2023, Velasco was ready to bring the vision to life. Wanting Esquinca's presence to be an integral part of the album, she invited him to record his reading of the entire book in a Guadalajara studio. His spoken word narration became the unifying thread, seamlessly interwoven with the compositions.

Volbeat - God of Angels Trust LP (Republic)

Volbeat is back! The album combines modern influences with Volbeat's unmistakable signature sound - backed by over 5.3 billion streams worldwide! In 2025, they're hitting the road for a massive tour across North America, Europe and the UK. "By a Monster's Hand" is the perfect introduction to an album full of power and electrifying rock anthems!

Hailey Whitters - Corn Queen CD/LP (Big Loud)

Country songstress Hailey Whitters has long been recognized as a master craftswoman, but Corn Queen, her highly anticipated fourth album, solidifies her status as a genuine star, one with the wisdom - and the guts - to trust her instincts as she blazes her own singular trail through the industry. Recorded once again in Nashville with longtime collaborator (and now-husband) Jake Gear, the collection is a rousing reflection on Whitters' midwestern roots and the joys and struggles of small-town living. The writing is whip smart, full of clever wordplay and evocative storytelling, and the performances are utterly intoxicating, walking the line between classic and contemporary country with a healthy dose of bluegrass energy thrown in for good measure. [Indie exclusive pink vinyl.]

Finn Wolfhard - Happy Birthday CD/LP (Night Shift Productions)

A dizzying rush of nine songs, Happy Birthday grew out of Wolfhard's personal challenge to pen 50 songs by the end of 2022. He admits, "I ended up writing a lot of terrible stuff, but a few of those songs I was really proud of went to the Aubreys. I started realizing a general theme in a lot of the other songs involving my identity, anxieties, nostalgia, childhood and loneliness. All of that was a part of a bigger puzzle. I knew I wanted to make a record, but I didn't know which songs." - For Wolfhard, who will be touring Happy Birthday this year, the album is another accomplished step forward in his evolution as a musician, songwriter and citizen of planet Earth. [Indie exclusive clear vinyl.]

Reissues, Comps, Live Recordings, Vault Excavations...

B.O.B. - B.O.B. Presents The Adventures of Bobby Ray 2xLP (Atlantic)

Blue Murder - Nothin’ But Trouble 2xLP (Real Gone Music)

This 1993 album has only been out on vinyl in South Korea, and that release squeezed this 55-minute-plus record on to a single disc, which is just plain getting away with (ahem) murder! So fans of this band have been screaming (sorry, can't resist) Blue Murder for the release of Nothin' but Trouble in proper 2-LP fashion, which we have pressed in blue with black cat swirl vinyl in honor of the unfortunate feline in the clutches of the little menace on the front cover. This is another one of those great, early '90s metal albums that got lost in the grunge shuffle, and it's more melodic than most; band leader and songwriter John Sykes (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Tygers of Pan Tang) knew what he was doing. Also boasts appearances from our old friend Kelly Keeling of Baton Rouge fame, and the venerable Carmen Appice on drums. "We All Fall Down" was the single, but don't miss their great cover of the Small Faces' "Itchycoo Park!" Mastered for vinyl by Mike Milchner of Sonic Vision, and housed inside a gatefold jacket with lyrics and pressed on blue with black splatter vinyl.

Serge Chaloff - Blue Serge LP (Blue Note)

A little-known baritone saxophonist who possessed remarkable agility and lyricism, Serge Chaloff made his defining album with 1956's Blue Serge, his second recording for Capitol. Joined by pianist Sonny Clark, bassist Leroy Vinnegar and drummer Philly Joe Jones, the quartet simmers on a laid-back set of standards. This mono Blue Note Tone Poet Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe tip-on jacket.

Willie Colon & Celia Cruz - Celia Y Willie LP (Craft Recordings)

Celia y Willie marked the second of three timeless collab albums between the "Queen of Salsa" and "El Malo del Bronx," now returning to vinyl in honor of Celia Cruz's centennial. Featuring (AAA) lacquers cut from the original master tapes on 180-gram vinyl, Latin music lovers will enjoy favorites like the socially conscious "Latinos en Estados Unidos," the salsafied cover of the iconic Mexican song "Cucurucucú paloma," the electric "Dos jueyes" and the irresistible "Come Down to Miami."

Copeland - In Motion LP (Smartpunk)

Coke Bottle Clear w/ Brown/Black/White Splatter Vinyl. 20th Anniversary Edition of Copeland's beloved 2005 record, In Motion.

Cypress Hill & The London Symphony Orchestra - Black Sunday Live at the Royal Albert Hall CD/2xLP/2xCD+DVD (Mercury)

On July 10, 2024, Cypress Hill teamed up with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Troy Miller, to present a reimagining of their quadruple-platinum-selling Black Sunday album in it's entirety, featuring unique orchestral arrangements inspired by the original recordings of DJ Muggs, along with a number of the band's songs from their extensive catalog. This landmark event merges the worlds of classical music and hip hop, adding soaring orchestrations to such classics and fan favorites including "Illusions, " "I Ain't Goin' Out Like That, " "(Rock) Superstar, " "Insane In The Brain, " and many more.

Deborah Harry - Def Dumb & Blonde 2xLP (Rhino)

Released in 1989, Def, Dumb & Blonde is Debbie Harry's third, solo, studio album. It includes the international hits "I Want That Man", "Sweet And Low", and "Brite Side". The album features a stellar production line-up that includes Mike Chapman (producer of four Blondie albums), Eric E.T. Thorngren (Squeeze, Talking Heads, Robert Palmer), Arthur Baker (New Order, Afrika Bambaataa, Hall & Oates), and Thompson Twins. This marks the first time in 35 years that Def, Dumb & Blonde is available on vinyl again.

Isaac Hayes - The Best of Isaac Hayes LP (Craft Recordings)

The Best of Isaac Hayes brings together 10 soulful cuts from Stax Records' incomparable creative force. As composer, producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Isaac Hayes changed the face of music in the early 1970s, and this collection is the perfect introduction to his music. Including the Academy Award-winning "Theme From Shaft" with it's distinctive wah-wah guitar intro, "Walk on By," and "Never Can Say Goodbye" all newly mastered by Paul Blakemore.

Joe Henderson & Woody Shaw - Jazz Patterns LP (Real Gone)

“Diamond in the rough” doesn’t begin to describe the number of carats this long-lost jazz treasure wields, nor the depths of its humble origins. Originally released in 1982 on the budget Everest label, Jazz Patterns was all-too-carelessly assembled collection of 1970 live recordings from saxophonist Joe Henderson’s Quintet, re-titled to give trumpeter Woody Shaw co-billing to capitalize on his subsequent commercial success. A few copies were made, sold for under 5 bucks each, and that was that. But, as Skip Heller’s liner notes (which we’ve added) reveal, what this shoddy little package (it didn’t even have the correct song titles for two of the tracks and misspelled the one it got right) actually contained was, get this, previously unreleased performances from the same September 24-26, 1970 stand at The Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach that yielded Henderson’s revered 1970 release If You’re Not Part of the Solution, You’re Part of the Problem! Turns out Milestone label head Orrin Keepnews had turned around and sold these 2-track reference mixes (recorded by Bernie Grundman!) to Everest owner Bernie Solomon, who went ahead and did his usual down-market, take the money and run thing. That’s George Cables on electric piano, Ron McClure on bass, and Lenny White (using a bass drum fashioned from an oil can) on drums, by the way. We’re reissuing this fantastic post-bop find for the first time ever, complete with the aforementioned liner notes, the correct song titles, and a new remastering job by Kevin Chubirka that sounds about a hundred times better than the original. Dig you must!

Salem 66 - Salt CD/LP (Don Giovanni)

Formed in Boston's underground scene in 1982 by Judy Grunwald, Beth Kaplan, and Susan Merriam, Salem 66 created a trailblazing blend of post-punk, psychedelic pop, and experimental rock. An unsung influence on later woman-led independent bands, they forged a distinctive sound characterized by haunting vocals, melodic basslines, complex arrangements, and intensely vulnerable lyrics. From 1983 to 1988, the band recorded and toured extensively, sharing stages with the Butthole Surfers, Mission of Burma, and Dinosaur Jr. The first reissue of Salem 66’s music, SALT collects ten songs chosen by the songwriters from their cult-classic Homestead EP, singles, and four full-lengths, accompanied by a critical essay by musician Franklin Bruno, and retrospective notes by Grunwald and Kaplan.

Pete Shelley - Homosapien CD/2xLP (Domino)
Pete Shelley - XL-1 CD/2xLP (Domino)

After Buzzcocks disbanded in 1981, frontman Pete Shelley teamed up with Martin Rushent, embracing the producer’s newly acquired synths and drum machines to rework his tracks, crafting a new blueprint for electronic pop music in the process. A production blueprint that would soon achieve massive mainstream success with another Rushent production; Dare by the Human League. Across both LPs, Shelley combines his urgent songwriting with chugging synthesisers and electronic percussion creating records that straddle rock radio and London’s nascent club scene. These albums sound as fresh today as they did upon release, but the innovative nature of Homosapien and XL-1 has been overlooked. Overshadowed by the influence of Pete’s former band and by the Human League’s runaway hit, not helped by the BBC banning the ‘Homosapien’ single on homophobic grounds (though it became an electro LGBT anthem in gay dance clubs). Domino reissues both albums as standalone double LPs, housed in gatefold sleeves with new liner notes by Clinton Heylin.

Jill Sobule - Jill Sobule LP (Atlantic)

Released in 1995, Jill Sobule is the singer-songwriter's self-titled breakthrough album, featuring the iconic hit "I Kissed a Girl" and the cult favorite "Supermodel" from the Clueless soundtrack. Produced by Brad Jones and Robin Eaton, the album showcases a rich mix of folk, pop, and rock influences. This marks the first time Jill Sobule is available on vinyl, bringing a new warmth to it's timeless charm. [Limited edition red vinyl.]

Dusty Springfield - Longing CD/LP (Real Gone)

In the early 1970s, Dusty Springfield relocated from her native England to Los Angeles in an effort to pursue new opportunities in her career and signed with ABC/Dunhill Records. Her 1973 album Cameo showcased Springfield's soulful pop in splendid fashion but failed to generate significant traction outside of Billboard's Adult Contemporary listings. For her sophomore project with the label the following year, Dusty travelled to New York to team with producer Brooks Arthur, renowned for his work with Phil Spector's 1960s coterie of girl singers, For Longing, Arthur chose to frame Dusty in the 1970s singer-songwriter milieu, surrounding her with material from Colin Blunstone ("Exclusively for Me"), Melissa Manchester & Carole Bayer Sager ("Home to Myself"), Janis Ian ("In the Winter"), Stephen Schwartz ("Corner of the Sky"), Chi Coltrane ("Turn Me Around"), Barry Manilow ("I Am Your Child") and others. In many cases, the songwriters themselves contributed directly by playing keyboards on their respective creations at Arthur's famed 911 Studios. Bruce Springsteen was also known to sit in on some of the sessions in admiration. As the sessions wound down in the summer of 1974, Dusty found herself suffering from emotional exhaustion and professional uncertainty. She subsequently chose to put the album on the shelf and part ways with the label, ultimately re-recording a pair of the tracks when she signed to United Artists Records a few years later. In 2001, under the supervision of producer Arthur, nine of the ten tracks he recorded with Dusty were released on CD as part of a collection of her ABC/Dunhill period. A tenth track ("Corner of the Sky" from the Broadway musical Pippin) was reworked as a duet with Petula Clark and included on a pair of her anthologies. Now, all ten tracks make their vinyl debut, including the first-ever solo release of "Corner of the Sky" along with new mixes for eight of the other selections for this dual CD & LP release.

For their 1981 album, the Bamako-based orchestra discovers the wah-wah pedal, delivering six mind-ravishing guitar workouts for the proletariat.
