Hitting The Racks
Here's your weekly rundown of what's hitting the new release racks at Grimey's
New Releases
Agnostic Front - Echoes of Eternity CD/LP/cassette (Reigning Phoenix)
Legendary New York hardcore pioneers Agnostic Front return with Echoes In Eternity, their most ferocious and unflinching album in decades, full of blistering riffs, unapologetic truth, and street-born authenticity. From the politically charged opener ‘Way Of War’ to the anthemic ‘Turn Up The Volume’ and the powerful collaboration with hip-hop icon DMC on ‘Matter Of Life and Death,’ the record is a relentless testament to resilience and rebellion. Raw energy, pit-ready hooks, and uncompromising lyrical honesty make “Echoes In Eternity” a masterclass in true NYHC spirit. Four decades in, Agnostic Front remain a force to be reckoned with: louder, harder, and more vital than ever. [Indie exclusive silver vinyl pressing.]
Phylipe Nunes Araujo - Phylipe Nunes Araujo LP (Far Out Recordings)
Phylipe Nunes Araújo's songs are as rich and varied as the diverse landscapes they were written in. The hills of Pernambuco, the lagoons of Alagoas, and the beaches of Bahia are all woven into his stripped-back, folk-inspired Brazilian songwriting. As part of a wider movement of musicians originating from Brazil's Northeast, Phylipe sees the process of music-making as the search for beauty itself. Collaborating with fellow Northeastern artists Bruno Berle, Batata Boy, and Nyron Higor among others, Phylipe's debut album represents the latest flowering of this exceptionally talented community's creative search.
Armand Hammer & the Alchemist - Mercy CD/LP (Rhymesayers)
Armand Hammer and The Alchemist build worlds. Their first was Haram and it remains locked in orbit, equal parts lush and foreboding. Their new one is called Mercy and it's made out of blood and empire, children's laughter, unpaid parking tickets, and things that haven't happened yet. TRACKLIST: Rappers ELUCID and billy woods are joined on the mic by Earl Sweatshirt, Quelle Chris, Cleo Reed, Pink Siifu, Kapwani, and Silka. The Alchemist did everything else.
Ata Kak - Batakari LP (Awesome Tapes from Africa)
Ata Kak created a peculiar slice of Ghanaian music history with his debut album "Obaa Sima". While it barely made a ripple at the time of its release in 1994, the cassette found a new life online in 2006. Now, for the first time since 1994, Ata Kak releases new music. Honed in studios around Kumasi over the last several years, the songs feature the rapper-singer's acrobatic rap, signature scatting, dramatic drums and even traditional Akan harp. The compositions are more ambitious than his earlier work, with more complex arrangements and layered harmonies.
Bearings - Comfort Company CD/LP (Pure Noise)
Bearings' 2025 album Comfort Company is a return to something familiar - not just sonically, but spiritually. Written in cottages and basements, and recorded at the same East End Toronto studio where they made their debut, the album captures the feeling of coming home. "This album was working on music all day, walking to the beer store, then heading back to the windowless studio to relax before reading Kurt Vonnegut and eventually falling asleep on an air mattress," the band recalls. "We wanted to make music that felt natural to us, something we knew we'd connect with and be able to spill out on stage." The result is a set of songs that feel grounded, immediate, and made to be played loud - a record built on friendship, self-reflection, and a deep understanding of who they are and where they come from. [Indie exclusive baby pink / red with white splatter.]
Benee - Ur an Angel I'm Just Particles CD/LP (Universal)
Multi-Platinum alt-pop visionary BENEE blends together dreamy melodies, dynamic instrumentation, experimental production, creative storytelling, and larger-than-life visuals to build a unique and irresistible world of her own. [Limited edition white vinyl pressing.]
Camp Trash - Two Hundred Thousand Dollars LP (Run for Cover)
Recorded, produced, and mixed by James Palko, mastered by Zach Weeks at God City Studios, Camp Trash's second LP is the product of years of obsession with Fountains of Wayne and Guided by Voices and the desire to write songs that were short, loud, and catchy. The songs are loosely connected character sketches that follow hapless con men, gamblers, cult members, and low level mobsters who dream of something bigger and come up with foolproof plots to get there, but find the journey to be more complicated than they ever imagined. [Purple vinyl pressing.]
Del Water Gap - Chasing the Chimera LP (Mom+Pop)
Del Water Gap is the project of New York-based singer, songwriter, and producer S. Holden Jaffe. On his third album, he reconnected with old friend and collaborator Gabe Goodman as well as producer and instrumentalist Jonathan Wilson (Roger Waters, Conor Oberst, Father John Misty). Across its twelve tracks, the album traces the arc of self-discovery in all of its messy beauty – the journey of a narrator in flux, fighting the pull of his self-destructive impulses; a romantic with a god problem, longing for clarity, forgiveness, and a version of adulthood that doesn’t feel like surrender.' [Clear vinyl pressing. CD edition due out November 28.]
Drain - Is Your Friend CD/LP (Epitaph)
"Straight up, no one is having more fun than me when we're up there!" beams Drain frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro, whose face is perpetually glued in a grin. For anyone that's seen the Santa Cruz hardcore firebrands live, there's no mistaking that fact. "The vibe of it is, enthusiastic, hectic," says the vocalist. "Five people deep singing and stagediving, then kids going berserk behind that. It's a great vibe and I think people pick up on that." That, in a nutshell is DRAIN. The trio inject a serious dose of relatability-not to mention catchiness-into hardcore's penchant for toughness and brutality on their new Epitaph album, "... Is Your Friend". Ciaramitaro's desperate, snotty howl rides roughshod over thrash-leaning riffage as rhythms bounce in a big way. If you're picturing the Pacific Ocean waves that rise and fall along the coastal town, occasionally violently so, you're not far off. [Indie exclusive Frosted Coke Bottle color vinyl pressing.]
Goon - Dream 3 CD/LP (Born Losers Records)
Step into the surreal world of Dream 3, the latest album from LA-based psych-rock outfit Goon. Blurring the lines between dreams and daylight, Dream 3 is a sonic odyssey that fuses woozy melodies, gritty textures, and haunting lyricism into a landscape both tender and unpredictable. With each track, Goon invites you deeper into their unique brand of lo-fi mysticism—equal parts beauty and distortion, chaos and calm. Whether you're drifting or digging in, Dream 3 is the kind of dream you won’t want to wake up from. [Baby blue with white splatter vinyl pressing.]
Steve Gunn - Daylight Daylight CD/LP (No Quarter)
American singer Steve Gunn has been at the vanguard of American experimental / guitar-oriented rock music for over a decade. After a trio of acclaimed albums recorded for Matador, Gunn recorded his 7th studio album in Chicago with producer James Elkington (who also produced his 2019 record "The Unseen In Between"). Gunn opted for a more stripped back approach on Daylight Daylight, with the primary performances coming from Gunn and Elkington with additional contributions from Nick Macri, Hunter Diamond, Ben Whiteley, and Macie Stewart.
Hatchie - Liquorice LP (Secretly Canadian)
The third album from the Australian indie pop artist, produced by Melina Duterte of Jay Som and Joe Agius. As a musician who has previously worn her influences on her sleeve, Pilbeam strove to write from scratch without any specific musical influences in mind; allowing songs to breathe for weeks, rather than rushing ideas. “I’m a hopeless romantic and a very silly person, sometimes to a fault,” Harriette Pilbeam says. Now 32 and married, Pilbeam found that “eternal feelings” of yearning and heartache quickly rushed back as she reflected on her experiences as a younger woman. Liquorice is preoccupied with the finite forever. These songs capture the overwhelming, exhilarating, and transforming side-effects of infatuation, even if the entirety of the love story only lasts for one magical night. [Red Lipstick color vinyl pressing.]
Helado Negro - The Last Sound on Earth LP (Big Dada)
A collection of songs inspired by a morbid curiosity of what might be the last sound one would hear before dying. With ever-growing anxiety with the state of current affairs, songs on this EP contain profound despair, anguish, and sadness for the world around us. In previous projects, Lange found positivity through music and dance, “I've found a way of moving my body on stage that gives me a direct, freeing feeling with the music.” these days, “The doom is real, and the gloom is unfortunate; I'm not sure how to make this any lighter." Amidst this doom, glimmers of hope peek through. The last two tracks “Zenith” and “Don’t Give Up Now” encourage the act of enduring from which change can happen internally and externally.
Human Error Club - Human Error Club at Kenny's House (Rhymesayers)
Human Error Club is keyboardists Diego Gaeta and Jesse Justice and drummer Mekala Session. Gaeta is a jazz-trained pianist with a restless harmonic imagination. Justice honed his chops making beats before trading his MPC for a Fender Rhodes, always maintaining a producer's ear for texture and detail. Session, raised in Los Angeles' Leimert Park, studied under the legendary drummer Billy Higgins, and also leads the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra. Human Error Club at Kenny's House emerged from three recording sessions that took place at LA producer Kenny Segal's home studio between 2021 and 2024. Segal engineered and produced the album, cutting roughly ten hours of raw material down to help craft a collection of sound experiments that bridge and push the group's varied creative lineages forward. This wild, synthy ride captures a band in motion: improvisation as method, not a format-built on generative tension and honest craft.
Amy Jay - Mnemonics CD (Mother West)
Throughout Mnemonics, Amy Jay explores what makes the vulnerable acceptable, as well as the Joycean concept of what makes the universal specific: How do you love yourself when you don't feel likable? How do you face pieces of your hidden self courageously? Jay assembled a crew of stellar local musicians with national track records to help take her sketches of folk songs into fully formed indie rock panoramas. With long-time producer/engineer Jon Seale (Mason Jar Music) at the helm and guitarist Sam Skinner (Pinegrove, Fenne Lily), keyboardist Andrew Freedman (Michael Mayo, Ryan Beatty), Jay also enlisted bassists Jeremy McDonald and Margaux (Katy Kirby) and drummers Jason Burger (Big Thief) and Jordan Rose (Maggie Rogers) to round out her sound.
Liam Kazar - Pilot Light LP (Congrats Records)
A pilot light is a small flame - an ignition source for a gas burner that traditionally stays permanently alight. For singer-songwriter Liam Kazar, it serves as a useful metaphor for love, even when the relationship has long since expired. Out of a glimmer also comes Liam's long-awaited sophomore effort, the pensive and elegantly arranged "Pilot Light". Produced by Sam Evian, and features contributions from Sam Evian, Hannah Cohen, James Elkington, Spencer Tweedy and more. [Turquoise blue vinyl pressing.]
Jessy Lanza - Slapped by My Life 12" (Hyperdub)
‘Slapped By My Life’ is a bittersweet paean to Jessy's husband. Musically it leans into a more dancefloor-oriented sound, playful and floaty at a speedy 158bpm. The ‘Existential Edit’ version pushes even further onto the dancefloor, accentuating the sweeping, lush synth textures with just accents and phrases that give it a propulsive bounce. Lyrically, it flits between open love, gratefulness and uncertainty, and is the most simple, direct and personal thing Jessy has ever written, made with co-production from Pearson Sound. Backed with two re-edit/dub versions of tracks from 2023's Love Hallucination.
Kali Malone + Drew McDowall - Magnetism CD/LP (Ideologic Organ)
The first collaborative album from the duo, born from a decade-long friendship and ignited by a single day of creative synergy. On Magnetism, Malone's poignant and evocative melodies manifest through McDowall's signature timbral synthesis, creating a unified voice that soars freely and radiates with vitality. Technically, the duo employs an exquisite blend of Karplus-Strong synthesis, distortion and just intonation. Kali and Drew embrace these tools with refined grace while moving fluidly within their musical framework. Charged by the magnetic pull of repetition, saturation, and resonance, Magnetism pulses as a living music that captivates the senses and lingers long in the mind after the final notes fade.
Vincent Mason - There I Go CD/LP (MCA Nashville)
After amassing over 300 million streams with smash hits like "Hell Is a Dance Floor" and "Dammed If I Do," Vincent Mason unveils his much-anticipated debut album, There I Go. The project captures the whirlwind of Mason's last few years: chasing connection, facing heartbreak, creating music, and chronicling the moments of fun that make it all worthwhile. There I Go isn't just an album; it's Mason's coming-of-age soundtrack, crafted by an artist who knows the power of a well-written story.
Sabine McCalla - Don't Call Me Baby LP (Gar Hole Records)
Sabine McCalla creates her own version of multi-cultural American roots music. It's a sound that crosses borderlines, pulling everything from Brazilian samba to southern soul to British rock & roll into its orbit. On Don't Call Me Baby, Sabine filters those influences through the lens of her Haitian heritage and her music community of New Orleans, creating a debut album that's every bit as multi-faceted as the woman who wrote its songs. [Orange & black marble vinyl pressing.]
The Milk Carton Kids - Christmas in a Minor Key LP (Far Cry Records)
Holiday release from the indie folk duo. “We feel a profound nostalgia for traditional Christmas songs, which are a repository of some of the most beautiful and heartbreaking melodies ever written. We set out to make a completely earnest Folk Christmas album, and were inspired by the versions we know best from Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Sinatra, Martin, and Crosby.” [Red vinyl pressing.]
The Mountain Goats - Through This Fire Across From Peter Balkan CD/2xLP (Cadmean Dawn)
The Mountain Goats, led by singer-songwriter John Darnielle, have built a prolific and influential career in indie music since the early 1990s. Known for their vast discography of storytelling and literary lyricism, Darnielle is regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in modern songwriting. Today, we find Darnielle awoken from a dream where he titled an album Through This Fire Across From Peter Balkan, with no sense of sonic direction in the dream, then proceeded to write the entire album based off of this arbitrary title. Produced by the Mountain Goats' multi-instrumentalist Matt Douglas, who also co-wrote several songs, the record is embracing, inviting, and overflowing with melody and orchestration that extends far beyond the boundaries of their past work. [Indie exclusive blue vinyl pressing.]
Willie Nelson - Workin' Man: Willie Sings Merle CD/LP (Sony Legacy)
Willie Nelson's 78th solo studio album and 155th album overall. It features Willie's new interpretations of classic songs written by Merle Haggard, the latest in Nelson's storied history of focusing entire albums on a single songwriter's or artist's work. Nelson and Haggard were longtime friends and collaborators who released three collaborative albums together: 1983's Pancho and Lefty, 2007's Last of The Breed (alongside Ray Price) and 2015's Django and Jimmie. Eleven of Willie's favorite Merle compositions were handpicked for the album.
Oddisee - En Route CD/LP (Mello Music)
Oddisee’s latest EP is a soulful snapshot of motion and meaning. Each track is a reflection of movement—physical, emotional, and spiritual. Its music for the journey, wherever you're headed. [Indie exclusive houndstooth brown & green vinyl pressing.]
Pupil Slicer - Fleshwork CD/LP (Prosthetic Records)
Third album from the London-based mathcore/metalcore band. Fleshwork is a deconstruction of what it means to be human, the penchant for personal and society wide self-destruction and systemic cruelty that seems all but guaranteed to rear its head as long as humans exist. More grounded and emotionally charged than previous work, with a stronger emphasis on the failings of our world to look after those who need it the most and our own ability to look after ourselves.
Rezz - As the Pendulum Swings LP (Virgin)
Rezz delivers her new studio album 'As The Pendulum Swings' - capturing her signature hypnotic sound while exploring uncharted creative territory, the album unveils a matured side of her production and storytelling - making a full-circle sonic experience that cements her place as one of electronic music's most forward-thinking artists. While the project introduces a new era for Rezz, it remains grounded in the hypnotic ideology fans can expect. [Mineral gray vinyl pressing.]

Sessa - Pequena Vertigem De Amor CD/LP (Mexican Summer)
n intimate meditation on love and transformation, Pequena Vertigem de Amor (Little Love Vertigo), the new album from celebrated Brazilian artist Sessa, was written over two years shaped by first fatherhood. [Indie exclusive white vinyl pressing.]
SML - How You Been CD/LP (International Anthem)
SML is the quintet of bassist Anna Butterss, synthesist Jeremiah Chiu, saxophonist Josh Johnson, percussionist Booker Stardrum, and guitarist Gregory Uhlmann. Their second album, How You Been, finds the supergroup of prolific composer/producers pushing ever further into the hyperrealist, collectivist approach to music creation nascently explored on their debut Small Medium Large. At inception the band inspired disparate but distinctive artist comparisons like Essential Logic, Oval, Herbie Hancock’s Sextant, and electric Miles Davis, as well as assorted genre touchpoints like Afrobeat, kosmische, proto-techno and new-jazz. With How You Been. their work manages to both collapse and explode such derivatives, displaying a new, high resolution version of SML, fully-flowered into a new strain of sound, bound to incite its own copycats in due time. [Plankton Green vinyl pressing.]
Sombr - I Barely Know Her CD/LP (Warner)
A New York native raised on the Lower East Side, 20-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer Sombr (born Shane Boose) began making music in his bedroom while studying classical composition at LaGuardia High School. After breaking through with 2022's viral hit "caroline," he's quickly become one of music's fastest-rising stars, selling out shows worldwide and making his late-night debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. I Barely Know Her was written entirely by Sombr and co-produced with Tony Berg (Phoebe Bridgers, Boygenius). [Indie exclusive red vinyl pressing.]
Sorry - Cosplay LP (Domino)
"We died when we started writing this album," declare Sorry, the London-based five-piece preparing to release COSPLAY, their third studio album. But if Sorry did, indeed, die before a note had been recorded, before a single word had even been jotted down, who the hell are this bunch now masquerading as Sorry? Who has donned the Sorry outfits so convincingly? Who is it that has recorded COSPLAY, this album that first meticulously erases and then extravagantly redraws the perimeters of what a contemporary rock'n'roll band can achieve? Welcome to the world of COSPLAY, where anyone can be anyone, past or present, real or imaginary, dead or alive. [Indie exclusive red vinyl pressing.]
Spaced - No Escape CD/LP (Pure Noise)

For his second recording of Bach Violin Sonatas and Partitas, twelve years after the first volume, Chris Thile opted for a more personal approach to the revered master composer's works. This time, he allowed himself to take liberties with the scores, which he recorded in multiple, somewhat untraditional, locations of personal significance: Reservoir Studios and Tompkins Square Park in New York City; Farrell Recital Hall at Murray State University in Murray, KY; and Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN.

Unwell - Allegoria CD/LP (Pure Noise)
The third album from the Detroit-based easycore band. Allegoria is a world of symbols—a collection of stories where each song stands as its own parable. The band wanted this album to feel like stepping into a medieval tapestry woven with modern wounds: love, loss, power, addiction, and the search for redemption. Every track is its own relic, dressed in vintage tones and ancient language, but carrying emotions that are still bleeding today. It’s not just an album—it’s a living anthology.

Westerman - A Jackal's Wedding LP (Partisan)
Westerman's 3rd album, A Jackal's Wedding, is a document of leaving and arriving, ongoing transformation, and the liminal spaces between shadows and the lights that cast them. The collaboration with producer Marta Salogni (who mastered An Inbuilt Fault) created a woozy and dreamier work than the 2 previous Westerman albums. Recorded in a 17th century mansion, converted into an art space on the island of Hydra; the album reflects the chaos and limits of the space and uses it as a collaborator. [Indie exclusive red vinyl pressing.]
White Lies - Night Light CD/LP (PIAS)
The seventh studio album from UK alt-rock trio White Lies sees the band at their most confident and creatively fulfilled. Night Light was written and rehearsed live before hitting the studio, capturing the energy and chemistry that's defined their two-decade career. Determined to flip their usual process, White Lies - Harry McVeigh, Charles Cave, and Jack Lawrence-Brown - entered London's Church Studios to record the album live, inspired by the raw performances of The Midnight Special. Where Darren’s vocals were guttural, Vincent’s style pushed the possibilities for Anathema onwards & upwards, with a scope & breadth beyond his years, complementing an ethereal roller-coaster of thoughtful atmospherics & crushing Celtic Frost style riffs – the Swiss legends being a notable inspiration. What emerged was a fine example of highly-atmospheric & often emotional gothic doom. 2025 Abbey Road vinyl master. [Limited edition marble vinyl pressing.]
Armand Hammer & The Alchemist - Haram LP (Rhymesayers)
Originally released in 2021, Haram is a mercurial collaboration between incendiary rap duo Armand Hammer, and living legend The Alchemist. Haram marks the first time ELUCID and billy woods crafted an album with a single producer, and the result is extraordinary. With their unmatched penchant for stirring imagery and incisive storytelling, the two rappers dive into an ocean of Alchemist’s creation: warmly inviting on the surface, black and bone-crushingly cold at depth. Haram is a collection of the profane and the pure; a reminder that that which is forbidden is also sacrosanct.
Ata Kak - Obaa Sima CD/LP+DVD/cassette (Awesome Tapes from Africa)
There is no bigger surprise internet music success story than that of Ata Kak. The Ghanaian rapper-singer released a tape quietly in 1994 only to be rediscovered online in 2006 as the pre-streaming blog-fueled online music collector movement was in full swing. The wildly addictive confluence of lo-fi house with earnestly-rendered, full-throated Burger Highlife captured the hearts of music heads around the globe in the mid-2000s. Now, after years of searching for the highest quality source cassette, Ata Kak is making available the Obaa Sima Anniversary Remaster. We can finally hear the now-legendary left-field dance floor classic in glistening-clear audio for the first time. Blaze Foley - Sittin' by the Road LP (Lost Art Records)
A collection of the legendary singer-songwriter's earliest recordings, containing 12 tracks recorded during Blaze's 'tree house' days in Georgia. The tracks featured here were recorded in the mid-1970s on Blaze's home reel-to-reel machine he carried with him on his travels between Texas and rural Georgia. These songs showcase Blaze's talent in early form. The album includes several of Blaze's songs now considered classics such as Cold, Cold World; Election Day; Clay Pigeons & If I Could Only Fly, as well as three Foley songs that do not appear on any other recordings. At the time of Blaze's tragic murder in 1989 he was little known outside of Austin's renegade songwriter circles. He is now revered among the pantheon of Texas' great songwriters. Townes Van Zandt and Lucinda Williams both penned moving tributes to Blaze.

The Clientele - The Violet Hour LP (Merge Records)
Long out of print and highly sought after since its initial 2003 UK issue on Pointy, this vinyl reissue marks the first time The Clientele's sophomore album has been available on the format in North America. On the Violet Hour, the band's already sharply realized motif of '60s psychedelia and modern fuzz-pop took on inflections of jazz, particularly in how the space afforded by the LP format allowed for a keener articulation of atmosphere. The Violet Hour has endured decades later as a signature album in The Clientele's catalog, not only perfecting the sound that made the band a message-board phenomenon but revealing entirely new depth to it.

Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity LP (Joyful Noise)
Reissue of the indie rock band's acclaimed 2007 album. On previous albums, one of Deerhoof's main weapons was negative space - the stunning silences between beats and chords hit harder than any clang and clash of guitars and cymbals. Deerhoof were like painters who'd leave bare patches of canvas to highlight their strokes. On Friend Opportunity, however, they're inclined to fill in every square inch, inviting us to revel in every brilliant corner. Songs like "Perfect Me," "Believe in E.S.P." and "Choco Fight" are vastly more groove-oriented than anything they've ever done. Friend Opportunity is a feat of reinvention that could only come from artists willing to rethink everything. "It's like being a kid again," Saunier once told Pitchfork, "because that's what kids do all the time. Every day they're learning new things that they didn't know that they could do." Man, talk about sonic youth - Deerhoof's springs eternal.
Deicide - Serpents of the Light LP (Real Gone Music)
Calling a Deicide album “more accessible” is kind of like calling a velociraptor less lethal than a T-Rex…you’re gonna die either way. But on 1997’s Serpents of the Light, the fourth album from the Tampa death metal quartet, Glen Benton’s rage-filled imprecations are a little more intelligible and songs like “Slave to the Cross” and “Blame It on God” do sport choruses that verge upon being hooky (if you have a meathook in mind). The anti-religion invective remains unabated, however…this remains music in extremis despite the stripped-down production. [Deathly blue vinyl pressing.]
Mac Demarco - Another One (!0th Anniversary) 2xLP (Captured Tracks)
Like in the days of Steely Dan, Harry Nilsson or Prince releasing a classic album every year (or less), ten years ago Mac DeMarco released the mini-LP Another One only about a year after the meteorically successful album Salad Days. An eight track release that expands the arsenal of Mac's already impressive catalog, Another One was conceived and recorded entirely by Mac at his house in Far Rockaway, Queens, and displays the maturity of Mac's progression as a songwriter: a little bit more refined, a little bit more sophisticated than his previous albums, but nonetheless chock-full of the guts and soul of any classic Mac release. This limited edition 10 year anniversary pressing collects both Another One and newly remastered Another One Demos on 2 LPs housed in a gatefold jacket and pressed on clear & blue Far Rockaway vinyl.

The McCrary - Emerge CD/LP (BBE)
Originally released in 1973 and pressed in very small quantities, Emerge is the second album by the McCrary family and their non-gospel debut. Long sought after by collectors and modern-soul and funk connoisseurs, it's an exemplar of what was considered "progressive soul" in the early 70s as well as what emerged a generation later as "neo-soul." The music veers between sophisticated, jazzy R&B (Charity McCrary’s beautiful “Matter Of Time”) to occasionally grittier funk (as on “Kung Fu”). “Be A Father To Your Son” and “People Run On Love” bear messages that are still relevant decades later.

Harry Revel / Les Baxter - Music Out Of The Moon / Music For Peace Of Mind LP (Modern Harmonic)
One of the earliest forms of electronic music, from the originators of the genre! "Music out of the Moon" is a landmark album that was released in 1947. It was the first commercial recording to feature the theremin, which had been invented just a few decades earlier. With its lush, atmospheric arrangements, the album was an instant success, selling over 100,000 copies in its first year and helping to popularize the theremin as a musical instrument. Though the theremin is often used in science fiction and film scores depicting the macabre, this album shows the theremin’s vibrant sweetness and gentle vibrato. It explores the instrument, using exotic harmonies, timbre and composition to play upon the more remote realm of human emotions. [Green vinyl pressing.]

This nearly two hour-album full of fierce and unyielding devotion immortalizes a night where the raw emotion and ritualistic intensity converged in a symphony of blackened harmony.
Nina Simone - A Single Woman: The Complete Elektra Recordings CD/2xLP (Omnivore)
The definitive version of the iconic artist's final studio album. CD and double-LP contain 11 bonus tracks, 4 of which are previously unissued. Backed by a 50-piece orchestra, Simone recorded the material that would comprise A Single Woman with producer Andre Fischer (Natalie Cole's then-husband and former drummer for the band Rufus.) The ten tracks chosen from the sessions were revelatory, weaving songs about love in the style only Nina Simone could conceive and deliver. Simone recorded more material during the sessions, including covers of Bob Dylan, Prince, The Beatles, and Bob Marley, pointing to a potential follow up, but-sadly, A Single Woman would be her final studio album before her passing in 2003.
Sorrow - Hatred and Disgust LP (Real Gone Music)
There’s a freedom in knowing we are all doomed, a sense of liberation from society’s morals and the considerations of commerce. That’s the territory trod by Sorrow on its lone album, 1992’s Hatred and Disgust. This album doesn’t bring you down, it takes you down. Down-tuned guitars, slowed-down tempos. Lyrics with a deservedly dim view of mankind. And fat as f*** riffs that will annihilate you. Finally released in the U.S. on vinyl and with the full support of the band, Hatred and Disgust comes in a blue smoke pressing limited to 1000 copies, complete with a lyric insert. If you like your doom metal with a side of thrash and death metal, this lost classic will satisfy like few others. Fans of Slayer, Obituary, My Dying Bride…take note.

Marva Whitney - It's My Thing LP (Vampisoul)
Among the most revered voices in funk, Marva Whitney holds a special place thanks to her fierce energy and unmistakable style on tracks like the classic "Unwind Yourself," a long-time favorite for DJs and dance floors alike. Backed by the legendary JB's and produced by James Brown himself -- who also contributed to most of the songwriting -- It's My Thing captures a raw, unapologetic funk sound. From the explosive opening of "It's My Thing" -- a bold response to the Isley Brothers' "It's Your Thing" -- Marva channels sheer intensity, backed by a band that doesn't let up. The pace briefly softens with "If You Love Me," a soul-soaked ballad in the spirit of Otis Redding, before diving back into the rhythmic grit of tracks like "Unwind Yourself." Decades later, It's My Thing continues to inspire, sampled by producers and treasured by collectors -- a powerful snapshot of funk at its most uncompromising.
