Taking Back Sunday In-Store Performance, Album Signing and 152 Release Celebration

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

On Wednesday November 8th we’ll be joined by Taking Back Sunday for a special in-store performance and album signing to celebrate the release of their new record 152. They’re hitting Nashville on a sold out a three-city-run where they’ll play Eastside Bowl on Thursday, 11/9. Don’t miss their set in the record store. You can preorder 152 on our site here; all preorders for local store pickup will include a wristband for our event. Wristbands are required for the signing and guarantee access to the performance. Space is limited. KIds 12 and under do not require wristbands; wristbands are required for those 13+.

Taking Back Sunday is comprised of John Nolan (lead guitar, piano, vocals), Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), Shaun Cooper (bass) and Mark O’Connell (drums). 152 is their long-awaited, thrilling eighth studio album (and Fantasy Records debut). The album was written and refined over the course of several years. It’s the group’s first full-length offering since 2016’s Tidal Wave and it is a passionate, melody-infused confessional from a band forever known for its honesty and vulnerability. The 10-track album was produced by Tushar Apte (whom the band met through a mutual collaboration with DJ Steve Aoki) and mixed by Neal Avron (Twenty One Pilots, Bleachers). 20-plus years into Taking Back Sunday, Lazzara and Nolan are peeling back the curtain like never before. From the heartfelt recollections of the album’s epic opener “Amphetamine Smiles,” (We talked until the sun came up/It meant so much/we can’t remember what/You better save yourself before you try and save somebody else”), to the expressive yearning in lead single “The One” (“You were the one/Put me at ease/Brought out my best/I let you in/You ignored the mess/You didn’t mind”), listeners are invited into the songwriter’s collective heart. When it came time to title the project, 152 was the only option. A section of road in North Carolina between Highpoint, Chapel Hill and Raleigh where the band and their friends would meet up as teenagers before seeing shows, 152 has become synomynous with Taking Back Sunday (and has appeared in some form on every one of their album covers!)

Be here to celebrate the release of 152 with us on November 8th at 4:00 PM—preorder your copy of 152 now on Bone colored vinyl LP and CD for local, store pickup from Grimey’s and receive a wristband for our event. (Wristbands may be picked up with preorders in the record store only.)

IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION! Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. In addition to our lot, there is a paid parking lot behind Elegy Coffee and Mickey's on Gallatin Road that is a short walk from the shop. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the nearby, narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police being called, and cars being towed. There is a police office who lives in the neighborhood across the street from the store and his driveway has been blocked by event attendees 3 times so far in 2023 (!!!) We do not want anger or disrespect any of our neighbors, especially not that one. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR PARK IN UNAPPROVED ALLEY SPACES or you will be swiftly towed. (This is no fun at all.) Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
