We hope you can join us in the shop on Saturday, July 26th at 12:00 PM for a conversation and book signing with musician Mike Campbell, author of Heartbreaker: A Memoir. Widely known as the guitarist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, with whom he recorded, co-wrote, and toured for over 40 years, Campbell is currently the lead singer and guitarist of Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (with the Heartbreakers) in 2002 and is based in Los Angeles.
Campbell will be joined by Ari Surdoval, co-author of Heartbreaker. He is the former managing editor of Performing Songwriter magazine, a writer for Gibson Guitar and BMI, author of the acclaimed novel Double Nickels, and the editorial director at Vanderbilt University. He lives in Nashville with his wife and two children.
“Brilliant, soft-spoken and intensely private, Campbell opens up within these pages for the first time, revealing himself to be an astute observer of triumphs, tragedies and absurdities alike, with a songwriter’s eye for the telling detail and a voice as direct and unpretentious as his music.
An instant classic, Heartbreaker is Mike Campbell’s heartfelt portrait of one throwaway kid’s lifesaving love of music and the creative heights he achieved through luck, collaboration, humility and extraordinary talent.”
To attend, preorder Heartbreaker and claim your signing wristband. Note: Campbell will sign up to two (2) copies of the book and the book alone—no guitars, posters, records, ephemera, etc.
