On Tuesday, August 12th Charley Crockett is coming to town for a celebratory East side record shop takeover! He’ll be performing and signing copies of Dollar a Day at not one but two record stores, starting right here at Grimey’s! Crockett is set to take the stage at Grimey’s 2:00 PM for an intimate midday performance. Afterwards he’ll sign copies of his new album for attendees who participate in our preorder wristband promotion. Then Crockett will head on over to Vinyl Tap for another go of things! He’ll be performing and signing albums there starting at 6:00 PM.
You can preorder your copy of Dollar a Day on our site here or come by Grimey’s and make your preorder in person. All who preorder Dollar a Day from Grimey’s will receive a wristband per each copy preordered, such that one LP = one wristband, two CDs = two wristbands, etc. Wristbands are required for our signing for all 13+ and they also guarantee access to our event. Like space in the record store, preorders and wristbands are limited. Information about how to participate in Vinyl Tap’s event is available on their site - CD preorders here, vinyl preorders here. (FYI, at Grimey’s kids 12 & under don’t need a wristband if attending with a wristband-holding adult.)
Dollar A Day is the new album from GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist Charley Crockett. The second installment in his Sagebrush Trilogy, the album sees Crockett reunite with co-producer Shooter Jennings for 15 electrifying new tracks. Like its predecessor Lonesome Drifter, Dollar A Day was recorded at the fabled Sunset Sound Studio 3 in Hollywood. According to Crockett "with Lonesome Drifter, it felt like we opened the portal. With Dollar A Day, we stepped through and came out the other side.”
Some people politely wait for their turn, ask for permission, and take a shot at their dreams when the opportunity allows. Charley Crockett isn’t one of those people. He’s never just waited around, asked for permission, or let opportunity find him. Instead, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated Texas-born maverick defied the odds at all turns, tapping into a rebellious strain of country, releasing 14 (!!) albums independently, and grinding from obscurity to selling out some of the world’s most renowned venues. Pitchfork points out, “in the decade it took Crockett to brush country stardom, the bygone era of music he loves and embodies arrived in the modern age. He is a key player in deciding where it will go next.” He has continuously pushed forward too. Since 2015, he has paved a singular path out of Texas. Beyond garnering hundreds of millions of streams, he picked up his first GRAMMY® nod for 2024’s $10 Cowboy. In the last year alone, he notably sold out Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO, the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA and two nights at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Crockett and his music have also received praise from The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, and Variety. Speaking to his impact, CBS Mornings chronicled his journey, and he’s sat down for an interview on The Daily Show. Plus, he’s graced the stage for performances on Austin City Limits, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS “Saturday Sessions” in addition to playing behind NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk.” After having sold heap of copies of his albums and having sported a Charley Crockett mural on our walls (with perhaps another coming around really soon), it’s only fitting that we finally are able host the man himself now in the record store! Make sure to read more about the album and preorder your copy of Dollar A Day on our webstore while supplies last.
