Celebrating Justin Townes Earle - What Do You Do When You're Lonesome by Jonathan Bernstein - Reading & Signing

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

Join us on Friday, January 16th, at 5:00PM, to celebrate the release of What Do You Do When You’re Lonesome: The Authorized Biography of Justin Townes Earle.

Rolling Stone Senior Research Editor Jonathan Bernstein, “with the full cooperation of the Justin Townes Earle estate, unravels in these pages a short but incredibly creative life, and reveals the backstories behind Justin’s greatest songs (‘Mama’s Eyes,’ ‘White Gardenias’) and what happened when it all fell apart… Justin’s journey to near-stardom is a harrowing story shot through with moments of clarity and promise, including his marriage to his wife Jenn Marie Earle and the birth of their daughter. But what Earle called ‘the myth’—the idea that one must suffer for one’s art—proved to be too powerful.”

Bernstein will be joined by East Nashville’s own Marissa R. Moss, journalist and author of Her Country, for a discussion of the book, its making, and Earle’s legacy. The event will conclude with performances of Earle’s songs from Dustin Welch, Sammy Brue, Tristen, and Andrew Combs.

Copies of What Do You Do When You’re Lonesome are available for pre-order here and in the shop.
