Rod Picott In-Store Performance & Reading

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

Former construction worker turned singer-songwriter Rod Picott has released nine albums since his debut Tiger Tom Dixon's Blues in 2000. Born in New Hampshire and raised in South Berwick, Maine, Picott has lived in Nashville, Tennessee since 1994. His poetry debut, God in His Slippers, was published by Mezcalita Press in 2017. Bestselling author Nicholson Baker praised the collection as "Life-loving poems that tell you what you need to know." Out Past the Wires is Rod Picott's first work of fiction. It accompanies the album of the same title and expands on the characters in that album's songs in finer detail. Fans of Picott’s music know the craft and the beauty in his vignettes of working-class life and love. They will hear a similar voice in this collection of twelve short stories, the insight and honesty of which will stay with the reader long after the last page is turned. Rod Picott will be on hand for a performance and reading on Thursday, May 30, at 6PM.
