Rebecca Wood's The Studio Mama Cookbook Release Celebration

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

Join us on Tuesday, June 7th at 5:00 PM as we celebrate the release of Rebecca Wood’s The Studio Mama Cookbook with a free and all ages event featuring Wood reading from and discussing her book with music journalist and WMOT DJ Craig Havighurst. She’ll also be signing copies of her new book and sharing some tasty samples of dishes featured in the book. The Studio Mama Cookbook is a collection of recipes and stories from Wood’s time as the “Studio Mama” at Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Nashville recording studio.

Rebecca Wood was the chef, trusted keeper, and diviner at Southern Ground Nashville for nearly a decade. While she was intimately familiar with the ghosts and secrets of the converted church that housed the studio, her passion was cooking for the musicians recording there, curating choice down-home meals and menus from family recipes. The heart of The Studio Mama Cookbook is a collection of these menus, each created for an artist who worked at the studio. It’s a combo plate of music, food, people, and stories.

The recipes presented in Wood’s cookbook include anecdotes and photos from recording sessions, as well as her handy Kitchen Notes. She delves into her process, her pantry items, and her relationships with farmers and growers of the region. Spoiler, she’s got an elderflower guy. Music fans will enjoy learning what the Zac Brown Band, Steven Tyler, Megadeth, Lee Brice, The Wood Brothers, Leon Bridges, Cheap Trick, Shawn Mendes, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley were eating while they recorded.

The fun gets started at 5:00 PM on Tuesday the 7th. If you’d like to go ahead and lock in your copy of the cookbook, you can preorder an autographed copy here for local pickup starting on 6/7 at our event or for mail order (copies will ship on or around 6/8.)
