The Grateful Dead by Jim Marshall Book Celebration

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

We hope you can be here us with us on Saturday, October 11th at 4:30 for an afternoon of music and discussion centered around Jim Marshall’s photography of The Grateful Dead. Our event celebrates the recent release of Marshall’s The Grateful Dead: Photos & Stories from the Formative Years, 1966-1977 (Chronicle Books). For his special occasion we’ll be joined by co-curators of the new book, Jim Marshall photography archivist Amelia Davis and music historian & musician David Gans, plus essayist and contributor Dan Sullivan. The three will discuss the book and the impact of Marshall’s photography of the band during this crucial part of their history. Gans will also be performing a short set of Grateful Dead covers along with Nashville guitarist and singer-songwriter Rich Mahan.

Marshall was an outlaw in the golden age of rock and the Americana Music Movement. Considered one of the greatest rock & roll photographers, he loved music, much like he loved whiskey and Texas. Those interests come together with Yellow Rose Distilling’s “Jim Marshall Edition” Bourbon Whiskey. We have the pleasure of partnering with Yellow Rose to offer a tasting of their special Jim Marshall blend at our event for those 21+ or older (with valid ID).

You can reserve your copy of Jim Marshall’s The Grateful Dead on our webstore here or you can pick up a copy in the record store at our event. This is a free & all ages affair, so come one, come all! (Must be 21+ with valid ID to participate in the whiskey tasting.) Planning on coming ou for the occasiont? You can RSVP to our event here.
