On June 25, 1967, The Beatles performed All You Need Is Love for the first time to a global television audience from Abbey Road Studios and on Thursday, June 25, 2026 we’ll be celebrating that moment and all that The Beatles and their message of LOVE mean to us. Many of us cut our musical teeth on Beatles albums and now, as we spend time in the record shop, we have the pleasure of seeing folks on a daily basis who are connecting with the band, whether its those who are picking up their very first Beatles album or more established fans digging deep into an expanded reissue of a solo album.
Held annually on June 25, Global Beatles Day is built around the message All You Need Is Love. The holiday was first celebrated in 2009 by Indianapolis-based fan Faith Cohen. Over the past seventeen years, this day of celebration has grown organically across dozens of countries, rooted in the belief that The Beatles' enduring legacy is helping people appreciate being alive and bringing people together through music, love, and positivity. 2026 marks the first year that Apple Corps has officially supported Global Beatles Day and they’re hosting their own celebration in Liverpool that day, which will include the founder, Faith, in attendance. We’ll be celebrating at Grimey’s all day, spinning our favorite Beatles albums and sharing sweet Global Beatles Day goodies with folks who come by (while supplies last; free goodies are available on a first come, first served basis and are limited to one per item, per person). We’ll also be launching a contest for a pair of tickets to The Basement East’s upcoming event The Music of George Harrison: From the Beatles to the Solo Years, on Thursday, July 9th. (Contest registry is free and available in person only. Our winner will be notified by phone on Friday, July 3rd.)
