We hope you’ll make plans to join us on Saturday, September 20th for an intimate instore performance and record release celebration with Caroline Spence! Caroline will perform at short set starting at 4:30 PM and then will sign copies of her new album for attendees. You can read more about her new album and place preorders on our site here. This is a free & all ages affair, so come one, come all!
Caroline is a critically-acclaimed Nashville-based singer-songwriter. Five albums into her career, Caroline is giving herself permission to break the rules. That untamed spirit runs throughout Heart Go Wild. Co-produced by Spence, Mark Campbell and Peter Groenwald, the album balances craft with creative experimentation, making room for pop anthems ("Fun at Parties"), emotionally bare ballads ("Confront It"), beat-driven explorations of self ("Soft Animal"), and left-field influences. It also reestablishes Spence as an independent artist, arriving after her multi-year run of albums with Rounder Records. She makes the most of that freedom, exploring new techniques in the studio and new directions in her songs. The result is her most imaginative interpretation of modern-day roots music to date, reaching beyond the swooning, soft-hued Americana of her earlier work to showcase just how colorful and wide-ranging her artistry can be.
In addition to her place in our hearts as a talented musician, Caroline is also part of the Grimey’s family as she is married to longtime staffer Tyler Glaser. We’re so excited to celebrate Caroline’s new album with her hope you’ll be able to join us for this joyous occasion! Copies of Heart Go Wild will be available for purchase at our event or you can preorder your copy in the shop or on our site here now and then pick it up the day of our event. See you soon, Music City!
A note on BEER:30 events—Caroline Spence’s performance and recored release celebration coincides with our weekly BEER:30 hang, so we’ll be offering free Tennessee Brew Works beers to those 21+ (with valid IDs). Beer is complimentary but we are collecting cash tips to be donated to support the good works of the folks at DRKMTTR, Nashville's enduring all-ages space, that thrives as a hub for connectivity and creative collaboration. Beyond being a music venue, DRKMTTR stands as a nexus of resilience, cultivating a dynamic community where the DIY ethos transforms into collective action. Through cross-pollination initiatives, DRKMTTR links artists, organizes communities & the under-21 crowd, and as a 501-C3 non-profit, they seek the backing necessary to perpetuate their pivotal role and create a lasting influence.
