Andrew Bird & The Mysterious Production of Eggs LIstening Party

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

Mysterious Production of Eggs Listening Event at Grimey’s

Join us on Friday, April 10th as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Andrew Bird’s splendid album, The Mysterious Production of Eggs! Upon it’s release in 2005 we fell in love with Andrew Bird and the witty, thoughtful lyrics he laid out delicately throughout his carefully orchestrated songs. We loved the way the record sounded, we loved the way the album looked, and we really loved when Andrew Bird came to the record shop and played these songs for us and all of you.

We’ll be spinning Mr. Bird’s opus in the shop for all to hear and in a nod to the way things were, we’ll have complimentary brews for those 21+ provided by our friends at Tennessee Brew Works (plus fizzy waters for those who do not wish to partake). Plus, there will be snacks. THERE WILL BE SNACKS. And there will be a giveaway. (Raffle tickets are limited to one per person and do not require purchase; must be present to win.) This is a free & all ages affair, so come one, come all.

You can preorder a copy of the 20th Anniversary Edition of The Mysterious Production of Eggs deluxe box set or standard LP to pick up at our listening event on our site here. Copies of both variants will be available in the shop that day while supplies last.

In 2005, Andrew Bird was a previously unimaginable combination of virtuoso violinist, singer-songwriter, guitarist, and whistler. With that year's album The Mysterious Production of Eggs, his second on Righteous Babe Records, Bird minted a new sound that continues to be imitated and set down classic songs that still anchor many a live performance. The recording sessions lived up to the name when he recorded and scrapped the album three times, traveling between studios in Chicago, Los Angeles and his own home studio on a farm in Northern Illinois. The mystery was solved with the aid of David Boucher, whose studio credits at the time included Paul Westerberg, Lisa Loeb, and Randy Newman. Bird played most of the instruments on Mysterious Production of Eggs, joined by a handful of special guests complimenting his already lush sonic palette. The result was a powerhouse of a record dealing with nothing less than the mysteries of childhood, creativity and modern science-epic in scope and minute in detail.

A note on BEER:30 events— Our Andrew Bird Mysterious Production of Eggs listening party takes us back to the days when we often served brews at our in-store events, so we’ll be offering free Tennessee Brew Works beers to those 21+ (with valid IDs) as we do on Saturdays for BEER:30. Beer is complimentary but we are collecting cash tips to be donated to support the good works of the folks at DRKMTTR, Nashville's enduring all-ages space, that thrives as a hub for connectivity and creative collaboration. Beyond being a music venue, DRKMTTR stands as a nexus of resilience, cultivating a dynamic community where the DIY ethos transforms into collective action. Through cross-pollination initiatives, DRKMTTR links artists, organizes communities & the under-21 crowd, and as a 501-C3 non-profit, they seek the backing necessary to perpetuate their pivotal role and create a lasting influence.
