Aaron Lee Tasjan In-Store Performance, Album Signing & Record Release Celebration

  • Grimey's New and Preloved Music 1060 East Trinity Lane Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

Because we’re hosting our event with Aaron Lee Tasjan very soon, we’ve removed stock from our webstore. However, copies of Stellar Evolution are still available for purchase in the record store on vinyl & CD! Hope to see you soon!

We hope you can join us on Friday, April 12th, as we have the honor of hosting Aaron Lee Tasjan at Grimey’s for an in-store performance and album signing in celebration of the release of his new album! Stellar Evolution will be released that day via Blue Elan Record on vinyl and CD. Copies of the album are available for preorder in the record shop and on our website here. All preorders placed for local, store pickup include a wristband for Tasjan’s album signing. Space is limited. *Wristbands are required for the signing and guarantee entrance to the in-store performance.

Over his past decade plus of writing, recording, producing, Tasjan has released four excellent and critically acclaimed solo albums, toured the world over on his own and as the guitarist in the New York Dolls.  He co-founded and co-wrote all of the material for the band Semi Precious Weapons. In 2021 he was nominated for a Grammy for his writing on Yola’s “Diamond Studded Shoes” and most recently, Tasjan produced Mya Byrne’s album Rhinestone Tomboy (Kill Rock Stars Nashville) which helped to establish her as one of the first openly trans artists in Americana Music.

He’s cultivated a brilliant and outstanding career to date already.  But his forthcoming album Stellar Evolution (Blue Élan Records) is just what the title says.  Tasjan’s new album is truly the sum of all of the parts of his diverse accomplishments to date while clearly heading in a brand-new direction.  You can’t put any labels on Stellar Evolution except for it being a career defining work and a major leap forward for someone who’s never been afraid to push the boundaries of any and all expectations.

Whether it's slacker rock anthem "The Drugs Did Me", an autobiographical account of Aaron Lee's journey to sobriety, new wave raver "Alien Space Queen," which celebrates living outside the gender binary and Aaron Lee's bi-sexuality and queer identity, or shimmering synth power ballad "Dylan Shades," a celebration of those who carry their pain with love, Aaron Lee's songs claim space and shine bright. This is Aaron Lee's most fully realized project to date, marking a culmination of Aaron Lee's unique artistic voyage, from glam rock side person in the orbit of the New York Dolls and Lady Gaga, to breakout GRAMMY nominated Nashville singer-songwriter releasing a series of critically acclaimed albums, writing alongside some of Nashville's established and emerging stars, to now fully embracing his singular sound and making his most personal album to date.

We can’t wait to experience Stellar Evolution for ourselves in the record shop! Preorder your copy of Aaron Lee’s new album on vinyl or CD and then be here to get it signed after what will no doubt be a fun and celebratory performance! You can drop by the shop or check out our web store to preorder now and we’ll see you then!

IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION!
Our parking lot is shared with other rad businesses and it is a finite space, so parking is limited. Another parking option is the pay lot behind Tiger Bar, Elegy Coffee and Mickey's off Gallatin Road, two blocks down the street.

Please use EXTREME CAUTION if parking on the narrow neighborhood streets. Too many cars make these roads impassable and result in angry neighbors, the police calls, tickets and towing.

We don’t want to anger or disrespect any of our neighbors. If you block access to driveways, mail boxes, or park legally on both sides of a street , making it essentially impassable, you will be ticketed or towed.

Please consider carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, biking, scooting, roller skating, or taking the bus to attend this Grimey’s event.
