Preorder Light Verse, the new album from Iron & Wine, and make plans to join us for a special, intimate in-store performance and album signing by Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam on Tuesday, April 30th, at 3:00 PM. All who place preorders for local, store pickup will receive a wristband with their preorder for Iron & Wine’s signing, where one preordered album = one wristband, two preorders = 2 wristbands, etc. (Wristbands will be available with preorder pickup starting on release day, Friday, April 26th.) Space is limited. Wristbands guarantee event entrance and are required for the signing. (Kids 12 and under do not need a wristband if attending with a wristband-holding adult.) Light Verse is Iron & Wine's seventh full-length overall and fifth for Sub Pop Records. Fashioned as an album that should be taken as a whole, it sounds lovingly handmade and self-assured as a secret handshake. Track by track, it's equal parts elegy, kaleidoscope, truth, and dare. Light Verse was recorded with engineer and mixer Dave Way at his studio Waystation high up in Laurel Canyon (with an additional session at Silent Zoo Studio with a 24-piece orchestra), with a host of talented musicians joining Beam: Tyler Chester, Sebastian Steinberg, David Garza, Griffin Goldsmith, Beth Goodfellow, Kyle Crane, and Paul Cartwright. And, Fiona Apple joined Beam on vocals for the duet "All In Good Time.”

The album finds Beam digging out of his pandemic-inspired writing slump. He explains “I feel blessed and grateful that I and most of my friends and family made it through the pandemic relatively unscathed compared to so many others, but it completely paralyzed the songwriter in me. The last thing I wanted to write about was COVID, and yet every moment I sat with my pen, it lingered around the edges and wouldn’t leave. This lasted for over two years.”

We’re so pleased that Beam has again found his voice and cannot wait to hear all his new songs. All who preorder Light Verse for local, store pickup will receive a signing wristband with purchase and are invited to join us in the record store a few days after the release of the album for a special in-store performance and record signing. Light Verse is available to preorder here on limited edition Blue Splatter colored vinyl LP (The Loser Editon) and CD, out Friday, April 26th via Sub Pop Records. Due to the special nature of this release, preorders are limited to two (2) per format, per customer / household.

Preorders for local, store pickup will be available at Grimey’s starting on Friday, April 26th, and include one wristband per album ordered. (Preorders can also be picked up at our event with Iron & Wine on Tuesday, April 30th.)

Preorders for mail order will ship out from Grimey’s after Tuesday, April 30th.
