*We will be CLOSED on Mon July 4 for the Independence Day holiday*

Greetings from Grimey's!

I'll begin with a friendly reminder that Grimey's, Grimey's Too, Howlin' Books and the Frothy Monkey at Grimey's Too will be CLOSED on Monday, July 4th, for the Independence Day holiday. We're independent so we take that day off.

Speaking of Independence Day... I hope you've been enjoying the new upstart low power, high voltage radio station WXNA as much as we have. It's been a jolt of positive energy having them in the penthouse of our building. Perhaps you've even tuned in to hear my show D~Funk, back on the air on Friday nights from 8-10pm on WXNA, or Anna's show Untune The Sky on Tuesdays from 9-10am. There are so many great shows! On July 4th, The East Nashvillian presents Independents' Day - a benefit for WXNA at the Family Wash. WXNA DJs will be on hand spinning great music from Noon to 11pm. Come meet your WXNA deejays, watch the fireworks with us, and celebrate Nashville's independent spirit! There's a $5 suggested donation at the door and giveaways throughout the day. Listen to WXNA at 101.5 on the FM dial or at wxnafm.org and on the TuneIn app and support independent radio!

Forecastle Festival is right around the corner, July 15-17, in Louisville, KY. Always one of the best fests in the region, this year's lineup includes The Avett Brothers, Alabama Shakes, Death Cab For Cutie, Ryan Adams, Ben Harper, Local Natives, The Arcs, Dr. Dog, Sylvan Esso, Washed Out, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, White Denim, Bully, All Them Witches, Steve Gunn, Femi Kuti, Anderson East and tons more. We're giving away a pair of weekend passes, plus a signed vinyl copy of the Avetts' new one 'True Sadness' and a Crosley C100 turntable to play it on! Come in now and register to win. More info on Forecastle and link to buy tickets here.

Have you heard about the Nashville Record Crawl? It's this really cool bus ride for audiophiles and vinyl lovers on July 30th. Buy a ticket and you get a seat on the bus to hit the great indie record stores in town like Fond Object, The Groove and Grimey's, with additional stops on the ride like the Basement East for live music & beers, plus pizza from Two Boots, a Third Man Records gift bag, a mystery vinyl gift bag, giveaways and prizes along the way and some great live performances and discounts in all the stores. See more details here and make plans now to get on the bus before it sells out. Click here for tickets. This is a 21+ event.

With the holiday weekend, it's a scaled-down new release day tomorrow but we've got some nice new things for you from Sarah Watkins, Bat For Lashes, James Blake (CD now, vinyl is coming Aug 5), Blink 182, Maxwell, Van Zant and more; some unreleased Betty Davis sessions from '68-69, some new comps from David Bowie (his '66 Pye Records singles), Eddy Arnold, Charlie Parker and The Delfonics, vinyl from Melvins, Brett Dennen, Keith Urban, MC5, ELO, Question Mark & The Mysterians and quite a few more nice things, all detailed on the new releases page.
