Grimey's Says Hey! - Week of September 16

Man, I can't BELIEVE it's Americana week already! This is one of the craziest and most fun weeks of the year in Nashville, if you're a music lover that is. All the clubs will be full of stellar bills every night and a $50 wristband gets you into all the goodness. We've got 'em here at Grimey's waiting for you and here's the showcase schedule. Remember, that wristband also gets you 10% OFF all your purchases at Grimey's the whole week (Americana badges do too!). So come get yours if you haven't already and get in the game.

I'd like to take a sec and thank Yazoo Brew for hooking us up with their sweet Americana Smokey IPA all week long too! It's brewed especially for Americana week and we'll have it on tap and FREE for you at all Grimey's events this week in the store and at Howlin' Books. We just had Steelism kick things off in a righteous fashion and we've got Robyn Hitchcock playing this Friday, Sept 19 at 6pm so don't miss that. Of course our all-day Americanarama VII goes down this Saturday but before that, I'd like to point out a couple of cool events next door at Howlin' Books:

Howlin' Books will be joining the Americana Music Association to co-host three book signings.

The first signing is Wednesday, 9/17/14 at noon with Galadrielle Allman. Please Be With Me is a deeply personal, revealing, and lyrical portrait of Duane Allman, founder of the legendary Allman Brothers Band, written by his daughter.

The second of these book events is with author Holly George-Warren, Thursday, 9/18/14 at 5:30 pm. A Man Called Destruction, is the first biography of the influential musician and forebear of the indie-rock scene, Alex Chilton. Joining Holly for this signing will be musicians Jody Stephens (original member of Big Star), William Tyler and Will Kimbrough performing Big Star songs.

Friday, 9/19/14 at 12:30 pm is author Jim Rooney signing his book, In It For The Long Run, A Musical Odyssey. Inspired by the Hank Williams and Leadbelly recordings he heard as a teenager growing up outside of Boston, Jim Rooney began a musical journey that intersected with some of the biggest names in American music including Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Bill Monroe, Muddy Waters, and Alison Krauss. In It for the Long Run: A Musical Odyssey is Rooney's kaleidoscopic first-hand account of more than five decades of success as a performer, concert promoter, songwriter, music publisher, engineer, and record producer.

Ok, now back to AMERICANARAMA VII! Here's the live music schedule and don't forget to patronize our friends and partners Crankees PizzeriaMas TacosStreet Provisions, and Frothy Monkey for eats of all kinds and The Basement will have a full bar as well as a slate of local brews.
