RECORD STORE DAY!
Saturday, April 21st @ 10AM - 8PM
Come See Us!
1604 8th Avenue South Nashville, TN
Greetings from Grimey's!
As we prepare for Record Store Day, we made some news today. Perhaps you heard? Grimey's will move to a new location in East Nashville, at 1060 East Trinity Lane, in the Fall. We found a gorgeous mid-century church to make into our temple of music! Our future has been in question in our current locations for some time and we finally lost Grimey's Too. The building has sold and we will close Grimey's Too in May, consolidating as much of its inventory into the main Grimey's as possible. We will continue to operate at 1604 8th Ave So. until after Americana Fest in September and then we will move the whole operation to Trinity Lane. We love our new location. It's very accessible from Ellington Pkwy, I-65 and Gallatin Road. We will have better and more accessible parking and the church already has a stage! Our in-store performances will have better sight lines and will accommodate more people and we'll still be able to do big, outdoor concerts and events like Record Store Day! Check out the story in the Nashville Scene for pics and more details and join us this Saturday, April 21st, for our last Record Store Day celebration at our longtime and current home.
We announced most of our Record Store Day details last week. We still have one surprise headliner act to announce for our back lot concert and that will be revealed tomorrow. Watch Grimey's on the socials for the immediate word and I'll send out an e-blast later in the day with a handy, all-in-one guide for RSD at Grimey's.
Ashley Monroe will join our previously-announced acts for a free concert in the back parking lot of Grimey's and The Basement in celebration of Record Store Day - Saturday, April, 21st: new Infinity Cat signing Nectar, jangle-pop faves Ornament, singer (and rock culture legend) Bebe Buell, and a steel guitar tribute to The Byrds' Sweetheart Of The Rodeo led by Lloyd Green and Jay Dee Maness (who both played on the original record). Yep, double steel guitar-led band playing the entire album! Guest DJs will spin sets between the bands.
Speaking of DJs, we are very pleased to welcome our friend Megan Barry back for her 3rd straight year DJ'ing at Grimey's for Record Store Day! Also joining us this year on the ones and twos for DJ sets are renowned guitarist Richard Lloyd, formerly of seminal group Television (who will also do a meet & greet/autograph signing after his DJ set), pimpdaddysupreme and several DJs from community radio powerhouse WXNA.
Here's how the outdoor concert schedule is shaping up:
8:00 - DJ SRC will spin records on the deck at Grimey's Too for those in line
11:00 - Trevor Nikrant (WXNA DJ)
11:30 - Jason PIffier (WXNA DJ)
12noon - Ornament
12:30 - pimpdaddysupreme DJ set
1:00 - Nectar
1:30 - Brandon Spencer (WXNA DJ)
2:00 - Bebe Buell
2:30 - Richard Lloyd DJ set
3:00 - Steel Guitar Tribute to Sweetheart of the Rodeo feat LLoyd Green & Jay Dee Maness
3:30 - Megan Barry DJ set
4:00 - Ashley Monroe
4:30 - WXNA DJ
5:00 - special surprise guest to be revealed April 20th!
Also joining us on Record Store Day are some friends from the local community. The Americana Music Association will be on site (wristbands for their annual festival in September go on sale April 17) as will the fine folks from YEAH who run the Southern Girls and Tennessee Teens Rock Camps. This is the time for civic engagement and we'll have the ACLU of Tennessee and BriteHeart here. You'll be able to register to vote and get information about how you can make a difference in these important times. Since this is Record Store Day, we've invited the folks from United Record Pressing, one of the largest vinyl pressing facilities in the world, located right here in Nashville. Our longtime friends and partners Grand Palace designed the poster and t-shirts for RSD this year and will join us for the day. And mavens off all things local Do615 will join us again as well.
And we'll have 2 wonderful food trucks for tasty eats. Smoke Et Al is our favorite gourmet BBQ truck in town and we're very pleased to welcome them back. Good Ol' Sloppy Top is run by our old pal Matt Pelham of The Features. Of course The Basement will be open for all your drinking needs, alcoholic or otherwise.
As always we'll have tons of free stuff to give away, tons of prizes you can win like a pair of passes to the Forecastle Festival, more concert tickets, test pressings, etc. and our big-ass sidewalk sale with super cheap LPs and CDs and more. Grimey's will open at 10AM with the RSD exclusive releases at Grimey's Too. Line for RSD releases forms in the back parking lot behind Grimey's Too, at the steps leading up to the deck. We will allow overnight camping in the lot and we'll have a port-o-john for your convenience. Once our staff begins to arrive, we'll offer free hot coffee & donuts to all in line! And once again our friend in the music business, DJ SRC, will start the party early with a DJ set on the deck of Grimey's Too for the folks in the RSD line.
We hope to see you on Saturday, April 21st, for Record Store Day at Grimey's!
